MY NAME IS STAXXXTYYYYYY🤣🤣🤣🔥🔥🔥🔥 Please give me more bangers I haven’t heard because this one is already on top of my list. DONT forget to like and subscribe as well🙏🏽‼️
Man this is such a great song. Oh and It is a fake nose by the way haha. You should also check out "Hilltop Hoods" and another group "Bliss n Eso" if you get some time. Two awesome Australian hip hop groups.
I was a dedicated metal head. From Ozzy, Dio, Slayer, Maiden and Metallica to bands you've probably never heard of. I lived and breathed metal and hard rock. But EVERYONE loved "The Humpty Dance". Even if we refused to admit it. It's just a fun song that doesn't take itself too seriously. We need more of that in this world.
I still vividly remember the first time I heard it, at a house party. Don’t remember details of my high school graduation ceremony or what I wore to the homecoming dance, but I can describe the room, the lights, who all was next to me, and the dancing when I first heard this song. Certifiable Banger, for sure.
not all of us.....we got knowledge by our parents......they always keep it funky and they got me stuck on 80s and 90s hip hop......and i acknowledge all OGs to always keep it funky.......i love it whn i play a song and get OGs bumping they heads.....thts special
Tupac is a dancer in the video. If you haven't please react to Same Song by Digital Underground. They gave him his debut on that track and a legend was made!
93 till infinity got some good bars, that Hyroglyphics Del the Funky Homosapien tip. Saw a reaction even w subtitles some cat couldn't wrap his head around the lyrics. Pity.
34 years later and I can still spit every word in this track. I enjoy watching you react to the shoulders that giants stood on. Your mature outlook and positivity is inspiring in the online world we have today.
I remember back then most of the music was about partying and dancing and having a good time. Everyone was on the dance floors just dancing and being silly having a good time.
As a young white dude in high school i loved this song lol ..i can remember being in detention class and a black buddy of mine gave me a Nwa tape and i gave him Metallica....we just shared music and it was all good. Loved when Public Enemy did Bring the Noise with Anthrax
Shock G was Humpty and he is also one of the back up singers on the far right side of the stage of the video. Humpty Hump was one of his many alter egos. Sad another artist lost to the war on fentanyl RIP Shock G AKA Humpty Hump
You gotta check out Sir Mix-A-Lot, especially "Baby Got Back" or "My Hooptie". "Beepers", "Posse On Broadway" and "Buttermilk Biscuits" are bangers too.
That bass line is pretty filthy! I've never seen anything to prove otherwise, so if anyone knows, please let me know. It sounds like an actual bass guitar, maybe one with a whammy bar to get that stretch effect.
This is the why all of Hip Hop was back then. Back up dancers for most groups. You had the Kid and Play, Salt and Pepa, Big Daddy Kane etc. HIP HOP in my day had it all, and there was room for all of it. Dance, Lyrical, Social, Gangster, Underground, All of it, then the 2000- to this generation #ucked it up.
Digital had a ton of great songs! I got to meet Humpty back stage in LA and he was awesome! I got a photo with him but unfortunately my friend there in LA didn’t keep in touch and or give me a copy of the photo.
Freaks of the Industry !!!!! You will never forget it after the first listen. STAX I love and hate that you don't know this stuff but YOU get to amuse us and learn. I have been listening and scratch DJing hip hop from 1984 to 2015 and I LOVE the reactions. I am doing the same with classic rock and Hair Metal. This song destroys a party TODAY. Second use of the backwards bass drool ( Paul Revere was first )
Literally had a smile on my face through this whole thing. This was back in the day when we’d just put in music and have fun. No BS, no fights, just enjoyed being young and dumb.
SO glad you're getting into Digital Underground! You will also love their songs Doowhutchyalike" (I'm pretty sure that's where Humpty said, "just grab em in the biscuits") and "Kiss You Back". Grea group and RIP to the pioneer Shock G.(and I see your sub count climbing, mark my words, you have a week to go- you'll get that ten k).
This was such a undisputed club banger! RIP to Shock G, aka Humpty. Digital Underground was part of 2Pac's crew. If you watch 2Pac's "I Get Around", at around 1:23, you'll see Shock G (without the nose) spit a few bars. ;)
Great reaction. A lot of this groups music are samples from Parliment P-Funk. Check out more of their stuff and you can definitely hear it! Also, they were in the movie Nothing But Trouble with Dan Akroyd, John Candy, Chevy Chase, Demi Moore, and a few other peeps you might recognize!
Who here is old enough to remember when this played on Open House Party on the radio, and they’d edit the Burger King lyric to say “I once got busy in an Open House bathroom” 😅
Dude... you had me with the humpty glasses in the thumbnail. 😅 Brilliant. You are one of the few channels I enable the notification bell for. I simply cannot miss anything. This is another staple in my life that has an amazing bass line!
Hahahaaaa thank you so much. Wowww that’s amazing I’m so glad you’re enjoying our channel. I say “our” because the people who are supporting are running it I’m just posting 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 thank you so much
I’ve always dug that bass line so much. It’s so simple (just a slide up the neck), but I bugged out the first time I noticed him stop just to give the bass props.
Just a quick tidbit... Digital Underground was a major launching point for Tupac, another legend in the evolution of hip hop. For me, Tupac was one of the original artists who helped mainstream hip hop across all lines and barriers. Ironically, Biggie was another that did that with ease. If only their paths would have crossed in different ways and they still were around.
Wowww amazing. I see a lot of people saying that. He was for sure a legend and we have to all crawl before we can walk. Props to tupac for grinding his way up🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Just to put your mind at ease, it's not his real nose. It's a dollar store prop and Humpty was just one of several characters that Shock G played. According to (fictional) legend, Humpty burned his nose real bad in a deep fryer accident so he wore the fake nose to cover up the scars. This isn't true of course, it's all part of the gag. But it's also a legit disguise, since sometimes Humpty and Shock G would perform on stage together, with his brother wearing the Humpty disguise instead of him.
This is one of our old school bangers where when you heard the beat drop, everyone got to the dancefloor. And still do to this day. Another one you should also have a react to is Hip Hop Hooray, by Naughty By Nature. You'd have fun with that one as well.
Digital Underground were the first rap band to give props to George clinton and Parliament, samples used in this song mostly come from it : th-cam.com/video/D3MNS4BU1ZY/w-d-xo.html DU also named an albom named "Sons of the P" where they're also using the imagery develpped by Parliament/funkadelic. Oh, and about the nose situation you gotta check out "No nose job", while still being funny is one of the greatest songs about self-acceptance. Shock G/Humpy Hump/Piano Man was not only a fantastic musician and MC, he also was a great lyricist. th-cam.com/video/dDy4bp9nKf0/w-d-xo.html
My favorite Humpty is the end of Kiss you Back, i think it was only on the album. I would love to see you do Good Thing that were Rappin or Freaks of the Industry.
Lol, your correct, That nose is fake homie, Shock g was an absolute Genius, Humpy was just a character he created, we can also thank him for 2 Pac, . Pac started out as a backup dancer for digital underground, Shock was the first one to put him on a Track. . . you should definitely check out more of his work, . You could start with the luniz I got 5 on It remix featuring Shock G and E 40 among others. . Great reaction! . I love the music you choose.
This mfkn beat was everywhere in the 90's lol. Went to clubs in Scandinavia in it was everywhere. Digital Underground did more than most mkfs at that time!Whatever country I went to these mfks blastin out tha speakers lol
A great song by a great group. When Humpty first appeared there was all the mystery over whether he might be Shock G in disguise, but how can that be when both of them were in the same place at the same time sometimes! Another great Digital Underground song is Doowutchyalike.
Humpty was the somewhat cartoonish alter ego of Digital Underground front man Shock G . He appears as a background vocalist in the video, looking exactly like Humpty, minus the nose and furry hat. ❤️😎
It is a fake nose. He found a Groucho Marx fake nose and glasses but the skin tone was brown! He couldn’t believe it, turned to the boys and gave his Humpty line, “Just grab em in the biscuits” Humpty had one line in their first hit so they came up with a song based on the alter ego. Great piano player! RIP Shock G
When this song came out I was playing little league-ish baseball. My team wasn't very good, but whenever someone got on base they'd do the Humpty Dance.... I'm pretty sure we didn't win any games that summer, but we still had fun.
to the end my man, every time. Love the Beastie Boys reactions as they were my first album so its kinda like watching myself discover them for the first time. Still waiting on Fight for your right tot Party and Hey Ladies lol, i know you are busy, just enjoy them when you get to them.
In Seattle, they had KUBE 93 Summer Jams at the Gorge Amphitheater in George, Washington. The lineup was Digital Underground with the Lunis Naughty By Nature Outkast Kaci and Jojo Genuine T.W.D.Y. Tyrese and Bustah Rhymes.
Story time! A few weeks ago I went into the convenience store and the young gentleman behind the counter was *literally* on a stool sticking Hennessy on the top shelf. So I bust out with " I'll drink a bottle of Hennessy you've got on your shelf, so just let me introduce myself". He just stared at me and then slowly asked me if I wanted the bottle of Hennessy and I was like, um no. Just the water. Thanks and goodbye forever. 😬😄

The nose 👃🏽 is fake 😂 that’s Shock G’s alter ego Humpty Hump 💯 RIP Shock G 🙏🏽
😂😂😂 RIP SHOCK🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I used to argue both sides of the if they were same person or not.
Shock G was the person in the background with the hat on. He is third person from the left. You can see them both rapping in same song.

I read the comments of the video, and saw that, I’ll check it out
Yep. The song (and also a Digital Underground cameo) was also showcased in the movie "Nothing but Trouble"
With a back up dancer?? That’s nasty, she don’t respect herself.
Live same old song

It's an actual electric bass. The sound is simply made by sliding your finger up and down the fret board. Some nice settings on your amp et voila.
The club went insane when this joint came on, R.I.P SHOCK G/ HUMPTY HUMP TU-PAC
