    Great content! Saved me time, money, and knew exactly what I was looking to get done when talking to my machinists. Thank you!

    Nice! I worked in a engine shop growing up and when stuff like this came in we took extra good care of the customer just for caring enough. keep up the good work my dude!

      That’s exactly why I take such good care on my end. I figure if someone sees the hard work I put in, they will care too. Plus, I would rather spend money on speed parts than labor haha. 😎🚜💨

    Nice work! I own a home based machine shop. These steps are a huge step in the right direction.
    Getting the core plugs removed excess paint and debris out of the way. Bolt holes cleaned and inspected and marked ahead of time is great!
    I would advise against using any kind of easy out to remove NPT oil gallery plugs. Easy outs are generally tool steel and require carbide tooling in the case that an easy out is broken. You can’t use carbide tools in hand drills it is a milling machine operation. If an easy out is broken off in the front of the block it requires the block to be stood on end and conventional knee mills aren’t tall enough to accommodate a block stood on end. You have to hang them off the end of the mill table and the set up times can be costly. It generally means a trip to a wire EDM for removal and that’s always costly. I’ve seen too many ruined parts from broken easy outs. It can run costs out of justified repair.
    The rest of it is nice work. I think the only machine shop video I have is NPT oil gallery plug removal. Just heat the plugs up then hit them with wax or wd40 and they will easily unscrew.

    Nice job, i work at the machine shop and we build many engines i wish customers would disassemble and clean their engines, my company won't allow us to put on any accessories sometimes they are even lost i want all my parts to go back on the build Again you show the correct way 😀 😊

      Thanks! I feel that if I put in the effort to give a machine shop a clean and prepared pile of parts, they will be able to do their job easier, faster, and cheaper… which means I can buy more speed parts! 😎🚜💨

    I'm glad I found this video, I have a Samurai block and crank that I'm about to drop off at the machine shop. It's a bit smaller than a 454 though!

      Those lil 4cylinders are so tiny! lol
      I hope this video helped you! I’m doin everything I can to post a video a week while I’m doing this build. Hope you enjoy the content! 😎🚜💨

    I noticed the gen 5 and gen 6 blocks I have don’t have the notch in the bore. I assume this was because of a different head design on the later engines. Can wait to see your block machined and ready for assembly!

      That is interesting… I never payed attention to stock engines enough I guess lol. I can’t wait either! Parts are on the way!

    What are your thoughts on porting the rear main cap oil passage?

      @AllieCatCustoms  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s something I will cover in another video, and actually forgot to mention in this video. I think it’s a good idea… don’t go hawg wild with it, but cleaning up any rough spots, and smithing bends helps. Can even clean up the passages in the block as well
