    Excellent method to string my cobra pistol bow. Used the paracord.

    THANKS SO MUCH. I'm recovering from surgery and picked 2 of these up, one for me and one for a friend who's also recovering from surgery. I managed to get one strung but I snapped the limb off the other (HIS by some odd coincidence). The paracord thing makes it suddenly seem so simple. I spent half an hour getting mine strung and about 10 minutes before I destroyed his. Replacement limbs cost almost what I paid for the bows so thanks a ton, wish I'd have watched this first.

    I thank you for the great idea! I used a pair of shoe strings, some cloth to protect my fingers and my wife's helping assistance to loop the string after I pulled it back far enough to get it looped on the bow! Wow we were impressed! I love you tube. Together we can do anything we need to.

    Can you tell me how long that stringer is since it has to be longer than the permanent crossbow string ...If I used a 150 lb. crossbow string as a stringer ,,would that work...What about using a simple shoe lace as a stringer,,would something like that work..jthank you for the video

    Didn't think of that yet... i always just secure the right tip on the ground with my left foot, bend it with my right foot and my left hand and put the string on with my right hand. No extra tools.
    But your technique seems to be more elegant. Gotta try that out.

    I recently bought a 50lb mini xbow, and a 80lb mini xbox with the same style pistol, just different bow arms/strings. A long time ago I had the same style 50lb bow, and I left it strung all the time, I dry fired it all the time, I would shoot crayons,pens,pencils out of it...never broke, and I used that thing a lot over a period of a couple years.

    it is a great way, thanks, i am new and i didn't know how much push it can handle if i push it on ground , but with your way it was easy and logic because you can make sure the amount of pulling is same on each side, just like the way it suppose to work ;))
    i was nearly disappointed , thought i have to ask for help, u solved my problem
    its a great fun and so powerful, much more than i expected from a £25 toy!! it could be so dangerous for kids,,
    but the string started to tear after one day!! :((

    Hello
    Usually if the caps break it is because they were not seated all the way on the limb. When I put mine on I tap it with a hammer to make sure it is fully seated. Its is best to not dry fire the crossbow, that wouldnt have made the caps break though.

  • @Deeeaaannn
    @Deeeaaannn  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    For a test I just cocked and dry fired my bow 20 times and it had no problem with it, usually when the tips break they were not fully seated on the limb or worked loose when you were threading the string on. I know there is a lot of voodoo don't dry fire the bow stuff out there but on these cheapies I don't see the problem.

    i have a problem. i recently bought this 80 lbs mini crossbow just like the one on the video. When i finally got it strung, i cocked it, and fired without anything in the chamber, and the end caps exploded and the string went flying! Is there a reason for that??? did i mess up on something?

  • @TheMarcAPullen
    @TheMarcAPullen 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    This was way easier than how I was doing it (standing up and using a full recurve bow bender you step on and pull straight up). I thought I was going to pull my arm off standing up. I did what you did sitting down, was still difficult, but still much easier. Thanks for sharing, still useful ~6 years later!

  • @yukenni

    i don't think that bolts on this thing relieve much of anything, considering the amount of tension that the string is under. I mean how much stress does that light little bold relieve? But yeah, i'm glad it was only the tips that broke.

    Is it not necessary to twist the main string before hooking it?

  • @fuzzgutterwins3
    @fuzzgutterwins3 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You need to wax the string and than put 3 to 5 twists on the string. It lubricates adds strength and additional poundage. Just like any traditional bow.

    Deeeaaannn!!! Thanks, man! Like my dear ol' Daddy used to say, 'Ya just gotta be smarter than what you're doin!' Your vid worked like a dream, and I used 1/4" cotton rope. I thought I wasn't stout enough on the first try pulling back, but it was leverage I was missing. I shortened my pull rope by another 6" and put it on like you show in the vid. Thanks! • @wolfie498

    Please do you know the type of grub screw that goes in the end. I'm in England and I think it may be a metric/imperial problem (just guessing). I thought it was M6 size but that screws in so far and then stops. I don't want to ruin the thread. Help would be much appreciated, you seem to know your stuff :)

    • @wolfie498
      @wolfie498 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, I'm talking about the cobra.

    • @bushcraftandsurvival2395
      @bushcraftandsurvival2395 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You may be right about the screw being different then metric. Do you by chance have access to a tap and die set for a non-metric system? Even if you don't, you can use a screw from any system if you still have the grub screw handy. Just press them together side-by-side and see if the threads match. If they do and the diameter of the shaft is the same, you have what you need.

    How do I stop the tips on the limbs from shattering. It happened to me twice, and one of the times it was the first time I used it!

    • @Deeeaaannn
      @Deeeaaannn  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      IMO the reason the tips break is they are not seated properly to start with (hence the little hammer in the video)
      If you get them firmly seated before you start you should be fine, since I've posted this video my requests for more tips disappeared.

    • @44SCB
      @44SCB 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I used a rubber hammer but it didn't seem to work.

    • @bushcraftandsurvival2395
      @bushcraftandsurvival2395 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You may want to find a smaller white rubber head hammer since the rubber seems to be harder than the black headed hammers. Should be no real concern over damaging the bow ends, unless you are a 500 lb gorilla and use all your strength when pounding the hell out of the bow ends.

    I tried this method and for the life of me can't do it. I'm a big guy, 6'2" and 250# and though not some weightlifter am not a weakling, either. I got within 1" of stringing it but no further. Am I using the wrong leverage here or is there some trick?
    I ended up using the 'kneel on the ground' method and it worked perfectly instead. Still, I'd rather use the 'stringing string' method because it's not as dependent on the ground.

  • @bobf12

    Nah, the limb is fine. I already replaced the end caps and the string and it is firing just fine. But the first thing I did when I replaced them was to dry fire it...I mean, if it was going to explode in my face again I didn't want a sharp arrow sitting there in front of my face.

    is there a way u can use a boot lace or a paracord for a string itself. these strings are SHIT. I bought one on ebay the other day and put it on and shot like 20 arrows and i noticed they werent flying good so i lubed up my rail (yeah i kno it sounds funny) i put wd40 on rail and it shot excellent and with way more power but then the string started hitting the top of bolt and goin over the bolt not doin anything but abraissing itself.

    The company must be using cheaper materials now. This didn't work for me. The foot rest bent, came off the bow, and the bow flew into my stomach. Now the foot rest is bent out of shape to where I cannot put it back on the bow. I have to see if I can bend the rest close enough back to the original shape.

    You probably broke the limb too... DO NOT fire it without ammo! It called "Dry firing" and it's very bad for the bow. You need new end caps, New string and probably a new limb. And make sure the goddamn arrow sits correctly on arrow rest.
