This is great info! Someone like me who has never gone and may only get one change will now not wait my experience on a glacier I really won’t be able to see close! Thanks!
Thanks for the info. I have been on 2 Alaska cruises previously and have already seen Glacier Bay and Hubbard Glacier. I am scheduled to go to to Endicott Arm/Dawes Glacier on the NCL Bliss next May 2025. I know that I only have a 50/50 chance to see the Dawes Glacier. I picked this cruise because it goes to Sitka and Icy Strait Point which I have never been to before. I have also never been on the NCL Bliss so it will be a new ship for me.
Hi Lisa, thank you for watching! You made a great move by booking the Endicott Arm/Dawes Glacier cruise on the Bliss! You'll have a wonderful time. Fingers crossed you get to see Dawes Glacier! You'll enjoy Sitka and Icy Strait Point as well :)
Thanks John and great recommendation! Although this suggestion may limit ship and cruise line options (because of the strict limit of just 2 ships per day), it is a much more fulfilling experience than Dawes and Endicott Arm. I've done Glacier Bay on Encore and Bliss in October and May, respectively, in the last year 2022/2023. As mentioned in the video, the Endicott Arm experience (mine was on Ovation of The Seas in August 2022) required a 4:30am getup to save observation seating in order to enjoy the entry, turnaround and departure. Anyone that sleeps past 7:30am the morning of the visit will miss the glacier entirely!
What month did you visit Glacier Bay? I'm thinking of going May. Although I hear it's not the best month but I see cruise deals offering free addt'l guests which is hard to resist.
Hi Roger, I've been to Glacier Bay a few times, once in July, August, September, and October. May/June is less expensive compared to July/August which is the peak, and September/October it is the least expensive. In May you will see snow most likely along with October :)
A really good recommendation, JT, for first time cruisers like myself. You provide good evidence/video to back up your opinion. So thank you. However, I have to agree with @ABP-jy3hp. . . Please slow your delivery down a bit. I got the overall message but some words are unintelligible.
Interesting perspective, JT. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Thank you for watching! :)
