    Don't forget about the CVD's and bearings in the FCX24 axles. They have a ton of steering angle and they're strong. The bearing and axle shaft diameter is significantly larger than the SCX24.

    Hmmm... Interesting, very interesting... I've accumulated all the parts for my next SCX24 build already, but now you have me thinking. So really curious about how you accomplished the axle swap with the FCX using the funky double ball link/shock mounts. That's the one thing I don't like about the FCX design... Wish they had used the FCX style mounts and screw size to allow for tons of already available link and shock options... Can you do a video that details out how you did the swap?

    • @keldonator
      @keldonator ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a long screw to capture both shock and link... Pretty simple. I'm using scx24 links on my fcx24, just drilled out the hole a bit.

    I haven't played with the settings yet but with the furitek electronics, I think you can add a turbo function. Again, I've not played with it but from the sounds of it, at full throttle with turbo enabled, it will give you a short boost in power. I know hardware more then software so not exactly sure but probably worth looking at. For those times were you just need a bit more wheel speed to get up and over haha

    Okay so is the wheel hex of fcx24 the same size to the Scx24 7mm? And nice video content on the axle swap to Scx24 chassis

    • @2fmrc
      @2fmrc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are but a larger inner diameter to fit over the larger diameter axle. So the 7mm for the wheel is the same but the inner diameter isn’t. So to use an Scx24 hex on the fcx24 you’d have to drill it out slightly. But the wheels all work pretty well. Just gotta make sure they clear the portal covers as some sit too close and slightly touch.

  • @DFDuck55
    @DFDuck55 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a FCX24 coming, 2 sets of metal portal gears, a set of oil filled shocks, an unpainted body and all the other body parts, etc. etc. I went to ebay and bought a 3D printed SCX24 unpainted interior with driver and dog. It ended up to be twice the price I thought it was, I paid $24 for it. And that was a bit tricky since I don't have ebay or paypal accounts. Ebay is still "nagging" me to create an account. Then I went freakin' nuts and ordered about $100 worth of paint and brushes. And some other various goodies like a 1:24 scale fire extinguisher and gas can, and some fancy wheel nuts that look like manual locker hubs for the front. I want to add a boom on the back and figure how to make a servo winch for it. But I have some long stretchy hair tie like things about 12 inches long and I have a bunch of them that should work like kinetic tow ropes (like Matt's Off Road Recovery uses) till I figure out the winch. This ought to be enough to keep me busy awhile, especially since I'll be doing it one handed.
    And I just realized that my neighbor has a nice pile of volcanic rocks. I'm going to see if she'll give, or at least loan, me enough to build a nice rock crawling spot. Because all the rocks around here are all smooth river rock (I live 15 second walk from the river), which suck for rock crawling.

    • @DFDuck55
      @DFDuck55 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Now I am pondering winch options. There are no working 1:24th scale winches that I know of. There are lots of possible options of using a servo winch. But I'm thinking since I will be making this rig olive drab to look like military surplus I might be able to get away with using a 1:10th scale working winch. Since military stuff is often "over built" it might not look "clownishly" big. And if it does I can just build a box on the back of the truck to house it in and hide it. I've even found a few winch options with fairly small dedicated receiver / controllers with "fob" radios to control the winch remotely. Lots of options to ponder, but I have time to figure that stuff out as it's going to take me at least a couple months to get it painted and interior in and stuff. The interior is important to me because I refuse to video an RC that has no driver.

    Do you think it would be possible to mount the furitek SCX24 transmission on a stock FCX24 with either the stock motor or $6 upgrade motor? How would the performance of something like that be compared to stock if it could be made to work? I really like my FCX24, but don't really care about the 2 speed transmission if I could get similar performance with that furitek transmission. The uppers you could even leave the ball stud and just force the larger screw through them. Did you get the screw kit from amazon also? In my video where I showed installing these axles I mentioned it. If not here it is. You’ll need a couple screws from it as the holes in the fcx24 axles are larger than the scx24 screws. I feel like your missing the point. Multi speed trans are to get power down low. In gas motors you need gearing to get torque. Electric motors have all the torque you need. So whats really important is take a fcx24 in high gear. n see if it ever stalls from not enough power. Once you lose traction then wheel speed is what gets you up. Try a set of pitbull tires. they should crawl your course without spinning a tire

    • @2fmrc
      @2fmrc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I have the pit bulls. They are ok. Not my favorite though. I didn’t even do a vid on them because they were just ok for me honestly. I even tried swapping the foams because they just seemed stiff. My point is why do I need low and high when this setup does the same thing? It never stalls where the fms 2 speed will stall in high. So I don’t have to switch gears and still have basically the same wheel speed of high gear and torque of low gear.

      Yeah I mentioned that towards the end. Not really a comparison at all. Just showing that the scx24 can be fast also. I’m gonna put these axles on a completely stock Scx24 and compare those. Out of the box the fcx24 is much better imo though!

      Stated in the vid I wasn’t trying to compare the two because there is no comparison but that the two speed isn’t needed if you already have a decked out scx24. Scx24 trans and fcx axles are the killer combo. The goal was to show if you want to build a more comp crawler with less weight (no two speed trans or extra servo) then you can. I also wanted to address all the previous comments saying put the 2 speed trans in an Scx24. That’s just a waste imo

    When you love the SCX24 sooooo much that you put the axles from the FCX24 on an SCX24 and then try to pretend it's a modified FCX24. It is not an FCX24 and you do not actually like them. You reverted to the SCX24 nearly instantly. You should have just bought the replacement axles for $12, instead of buying the trucks. You do not even like their bodies. What a waste. Heck, you compare a $600+ item vs a $150 truck, 'cause that's fair. Just admit you're 100% SCX24 fanboi and move on.

    • @2fmrc
      @2fmrc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How about you just move on if you don’t like the video. It’s my channel I’ll do what I want. I’m just showing that the scx24 can be made fast just like the fcx24. I mention in the video if you would listen instead of bumping your gums you’d hear me say it’s not a fair comparison! Not comparing them at all. The stock fcx24 is wayyyy better than a stock Scx24 and that’s a fact I’ll stick with. So because I try to make one truck better I hate the other? Come on! I just like mixing an matching parts. That’s part of the fun for me. The fact is atm we have unlimited amounts of parts selection for the scx24 and lots of people have tons of money tied up in them. So maybe they wanna make it better. I’m showing them how! I have THOUSANDS tied up in the scx24 so it would be completely ignorant to put them to the side and never use them and that’s what had happened since I got the fcx24. I didn’t even wanna run them because they were all too slow and had that horrible lock up from the worm gears. So I made them better and more enjoyable! Why wouldn’t I? Maybe I’ll make my next video another fcx24 video and you can say I hate the scx24 again and I’m an fms fan boiiiiiiiii 😆 Get out of here with that garbage
