Funny thing about the AI in this game, in lore there's been two "AI war" note that neither of these wars were instigated or involved AI as an independent power, they were both caused because tri tachyon inc got mad at the hegemony for not letting them just go hog wild with AI use. Also AI in the colonies never betray you in anyway without you trying to pull the plug first and they are so god damned good for your economy that I personally consider using them well worth the hegemony being butthurt over my immense prosperity.

6:45 I think you may be confusing antimatter with negative mass. Antimatter is just like normal matter, except the antiprotons are negatively charged and the positrons are positively charged. Antimatter is just something that releases a lot of energy when it annihilates with regular matter.

the in-universe explanation of antimatter fuel is: the anti-atoms are generated by using huge quantities of 'volatiles' (probably hygrogen/helium in massive fusion reactors to power the synchrotron?) and 'trapped' inside fullerene shells which are then processed into a 'semi-stable foam' so they don't need constant magnetic containment. Described as 'somewhat safe'.
Sounds like something they would use as fuel. Same energy as “eh, I’m sure it won’t explode just don’t hold anything like lighters, any type of spark, or so much as any type of laser near it or it might detonate with the force of a nuclear bomb”
The 30% trading tariffs are insane, which really forces you to exclusively buy and sell on the black market in the early game. Also, it is very difficult to make money in the early game, so even without having to pay tariffs you might not survive long. You have to be really careful about what you buy, and always make sure your fleet has enough supplies to keep it going. Though in my game, which I haven't played for some time, I own my own planet and it makes me more than enough credits to keep my fleet afloat.
Well, it's a unique mechanic here. For an early game. the black market is indeed a cheap way of life. But after starting to explore further and fight harder, a small amount in the black market can't keep our demand. So paying some Tariffs are a must here. And force us to build our own colony for the mass amounts of supplies.
Nexerelin has the decency todrop it to 18%. Way more manageable. With that I can finally do trading on the open market and raise my relationship with factions by supplying for demands I might have caused.
AI tech is banned because Tri-Tachyon made heavy use of unregulated AI war machines in their multiple sector-wide wars with the Hegemony - wars that the Hegemony won. Rogue surviving specimens remain in many outer star systems as a constant reminder of the threat posed, and the Hegemony sends heavy flotillas against those who try for a repeat. There was a WH40K story which featured an ancient titan from the dark age of technology which still had a functional AI and a much more advanced design over all. It's body proportions were more like those of a Gundam or other typical mecha from anime rather than the titans of the Imperium. It also remembered a time before the Emperor had revealed himself and had some very interesting things to say about the humans of the ancient past. did you end up buying Starsector? it got a massive update like a year ago that fixed the only problem Sseth mentioned. as for why its not on Steam or GOG - the developer said he doesnt want to put it on the store until he feels like its finished, so thats why you can only buy a key from their own website but its worth it at only 15 bucks. bought this game after Sseths review and i play it for a few months every year. the updates are great and make the vanilla game better all the time. its a really good game and if you dont get discouraged by how steep the learning curve for the combat is, eventually youll figure out the flow of combat and get better at it.
It's very unfortunate and sad I've been wishing for a randy return since he went away But if it's dangerous he shouldn't come back and it's understandable Wish the best for him❤

by the way, i use seth cd key in early 2022 and it's still works
That some Age of Wonders I'm hearing at the end there?
did you end up buying Starsector? it got a massive update like a year ago that fixed the only problem Sseth mentioned. as for why its not on Steam or GOG - the developer said he doesnt want to put it on the store until he feels like its finished, so thats why you can only buy a key from their own website but its worth it at only 15 bucks.
bought this game after Sseths review and i play it for a few months every year. the updates are great and make the vanilla game better all the time. its a really good game and if you dont get discouraged by how steep the learning curve for the combat is, eventually youll figure out the flow of combat and get better at it.
It's very unfortunate and sad
I've been wishing for a randy return since he went away
But if it's dangerous he shouldn't come back and it's understandable
Wish the best for him❤
A 10/10 from Sseth is probably the single best endorsement a game can get in my eyes.
Man breaks into a talk about instellar shit and has 40k Mechanicus playing in the background
Its like mount n blade but in SPAAAAAACE!... and in 2D
"Made out of antiproton and Jesus Christ" .... wait are we discussing space Templars tech?
Please react to Five(ish) minute lore - Rylanor - Sigismund and - Lotara Sarrin by Old Man
This game I amazing. I haven’t played in a while cause last time a checked half the mods I use weren’t up to date
The Nechanicus soundtrack. Hmm yes.
"good indies" my brother in Christ starsector is the best indie game I've play since hollow knight
also just realized that hyperspace is like the warp but we have much better geler fields so zero demonic incursions
U should watch ck2 from seth its one of his best videos(all his vuds are the best but still)
What does cd key do??
Play this game. For the love of god. Please! I'd love to watch you play some of these games. Especially this one.
If you're interested in space game vids, martincitopants has a Kerbal trilogy.
Game good, game got fun updates, play fun game.
Great review. He convinced me to buy it ...but I wonder if he had permission to give out his CD key? If not, that'd be a shady thing to do to a small dev team who doesn't get much mainstream attention. Piracy can tank small devs who barely scrape by as it is.
The website the dev uses for payment crashed right after SSeth uploaded the video because of the increased traffic.
I bought the game as well because of his vid. They'll be fine.
Jangala delenda est
deus valt?
DEUUSSSSSSS VUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULT
are you serious...?
So you are posting someone elses video and slapping 'REACTION!' onto it and uploading it like your own content? Really sad.
