David Mason. Black Ops 2. The disappearance of Alex Mason. Why exactly didn’t we get a sequel to this game? Considering the canon ending has Menendez captured they could have brought him back to do a direct sequel. A true Black Ops 3. A man can only hope.

@@kopanitis Black Ops 3 implied that the Cordis Die revolution (as shown in Black Ops 2 if Menendez get killed) never took place. It was said in Black Ops 3 the revolution never took place because of internal fighting among the members of Cordis Die.

So just a few things for those wondering:
The canon ending is a strange mixture of things. First Menendez survives, and his anarchists spark mass protests in the US, which eventually stops after a long period of time.
Woods dies just over a year later from old age, so any ending with Menendez killing woods isn't cannon. For no reason Menendez is still alive in BO4 like 25 years later.
I BELIEVE that Mason surviving IS cannon although im not sure. Seems pretty fan-servicy though the way its shot. What i dont get is where WAS mason for 30 years?

Pretty sure he was hiding to protect David. Once menendez was captured or killed he came back. I was hoping with Cold War to see some Alex and David...I guess we need a new black ops for David.
@@JohnKiller I'm pretty sure BO2 to 4 is non-canon now due to Cold War and how it seems that they are trying to combine MW (2019) with the first BO and Cold War. I'm guessing the next Cod will be MW2 (2021)? In that case, I hope they do show David Mason, and maybe he'll work alongside the others in the new TF141.

Menendez doesn't survive for 25 years after the events of Black Ops 2. He dies and is brought back as an Archetype for Project Blackout in BO4.

I like the parallel with mason saying about David’s scar, on the surface it’s about the incident with the tree, but on a deeper level it’s David’s trauma about Mendez ruining his life.
Yet despite all he went through David did the right thing and saved everyone. Alex giving him closure Is perfect.

Anyone else wonder why Masons 30 year absence wasnt explained in cold war? I mean we were supposed to get questions answered about where he was for 30 years. And cold war does nothing to push the mason woods story forward. In fact it feels like woods and Mason were pinched into the game to make it a black ops game that fans will buy. Them dudes were not the focus, Adler and bell were...what a complete let down. Did treyarc forget what they set up in blops 2. Smh

Actually the canon ending is the one where you kill Menendez. If you read about Menendez on the computer in the safehouse in BO3, it says that he was killed by David. Also the violent riots sparked by his death are part of the reasons why the world state is so bleak in BO3.
I don't know, can we even consider Bo3 canon? It really doesn't tie in a sequel to BO2 at all. Hell for all we know it could be a sequel to a non-canon ending. I do like the games campaign because it makes you find the twist yourself, but doesn't really connect to anything else.
@@StableDruid130 You can read various articles about the game's world on the computer in the safehouse in BO3. The one about Menendez mentions he was killed by David in BO2, so at least as far as the BO3 universe is concerned, the "Kill Menendez" ending is what happened there.

The canon ending is that Menendez is killed and shot by David while trying to escape disguised as a soldier Navy Seal in the mission Judgment Day, Haïti in 19th June 2025. Also, there is in BO3 terminal an info about it.

Isn't Menendez alive in BO3 tho? And BO4 was kinda where woods (and mason) were revived to their original youth and woods was evil or something and controlled Mason idk its confusing in BO4. Also I think it is Canon that Mason survives, as they put a lot of work into that small scene[s] so..

Black ops 1 and 2 the best campaign, the mest multiplayer, and the best zombies. Cold war was alright, nothing amazing compared to these older games.

I always disliked multiple ending in most games, especially cod. How many of you guys just looked up the best ending and how to get it before finishing?
i usually get the game on launch so I got the bad ending for Cold War and BO2
NateGamer 918 yea, it ends leaving a sour taste in my mouth if I get the bad ending, so I end up looking it up, which is impossible to do spoiler free. Kinda ruins it either way right?
Also what sucks even more is that most endings end up being bad with one that’s actually positive, for most games.
I got black ops 2 on release and genuinely got the best ending first try, I remember thinking to myself something wasn’t right when using the sniper with woods and shot mason in the leg only to find out it was mason and be like I KNEW SOMETHING WAS UP!

Are you to tell me a 70 year old man can hack all them drones and technology, start a global uprising and know the ins and outs of a us carrier. Keep in mind what you said “drug kingpin”. Scar face is a good villain but I wouldn’t even dream him doing what menendez does. He has very generic dialogue and his motives make no sense. There’s a reason why people forgot this villain

You got the ending where Menendez broke out of prison (and killed Woods) is because you either failed to rescue Karma or she died (either she was killed by Salazar or DeFalco if you choose to save Harper instead of killing him as Farid) and you choose to spare Menendez.
And celerium broke Menendez out

@@jarredjdh If you save Karma by killing DeFalco, she can still die if you choose to save Harper by shooting Menendez as Farid. Karma will then be killed by Salazar. Alternatively, if she survived, she can still die if you kill Admiral Briggs as Raul Menendez and/or failed to complete Strike Force missions where she will die when the US aircraft carrier (where she was in) was destroyed.

You mean Karma? In the mission Karma if you catch up to DeFalco, you can save Chloe early, if not an extra strike force mission will appear for rescuing her. After that you need to kill Harper in Achilles Veil so Karma doesn 't get kill in the later mission.
In short, Karma lives, Harper dies
I loved the campaigns of bo2, but I still hated those strike missions as it was tedious to do them all

@@King.Saint999 Not confirmed. Harper dead or alive and the other choices in BO2 were not mentioned and don't even matter in BO3. Those choices are decided by the players.
The only confirmed canon in BO2 is David Mason killed Menendez.

How to get this ending
Dont shoot kravchenko and let woods shoot him on old wounds. Get the cia memo on menendez compound on time and fate. Complete all strike force mission. Get all intel on fallen angel and dont get harpers face burned. Shoot harper instead of menendez. Shoot the bagged person that you thought is menendez in the leg 2-3 times on suffer with me. kill defalco on the level 'karma' if u failed, do second chance, if u failed again, then u cant save karma anymore. Shoot briggs in the leg. Finish cordis die, capture menendez instead of killing him.

I still think the best ending is when Woods and Section visit Alex’s grave. It’s sucks that he died, but with Section learning the lesson of how war effected him and Woods it becomes a bitter-sweet ending. I do like Alex being alive, although it’s a bit cheesy. They are both good though. (Still like the other one)
