But I especially applaud your selection of Clear. I am biased as a resident of Edinburgh, but see this as a beautiful, quiet masterpiece. I'm currently reading THE ROAD TO THE COUNTRY and looking forward to THE COAST ROAD. I anticipated IAMES would be nominated for several literary prizes but while I think he is a clever writer. I don't feel this is his best. Thank you for your enthusiastic descriptions and wide reading.❤📚
This is a very good longlist, not just well balanced within the Booker formula, but with something for everybody. I've seen surprisingly few people predict Garth Greenwell, I don't think would be a surprise if he were to be longlisted at all.
I find your racial and gender breakdown exceedingly insulting, regardless of past patterns, because it diminishes their merit. You often make disparaging racial remarks as though it’s not your belief but just the way things are as though things aren’t that way because individuals perpetuate it. Just my opinion.
Catton is a Kiwi/Canadian author not an Aussie...however, being a Kiwi, we could very well claim her 🙂 However, however....Praiseworthy by Australian Indigenous author, Alexis Wright for the win this year 😄
