    One phrase that helped me more than anything... when the plane is facing you push the stick to the low wing.

    • @richard1472
      @richard1472 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I've heard of this method before.
      I've never used it, nor do I recommend it.
      You have to train yourself to not think of your left or your right, but the airplanes left and the airplanes right.
      Once you do that, it becomes second nature.
      Happy landings!

      Yep. That is the best feeling ever. This vid brought me right back to my first RC flight about 30 years ago. The pure joy and excitement, and relief of getting that thing back to Earth in one piece after the total stress of the flight. I was jumping up and down in excitement. My next 10 flights weren’t as successful though. This was back in the day before “safe” technology to help you, and it was a gas powered plane of course. My first plane was a Sturdy Bird which was (almost) indestructible even though I managed to destroy a couple of them. I’m still flying all there years later.
      What a feeling, and it made me so proud and excited for him. What a day!!!!!

    I know I'm late to this party but wow our hobby has come a long way. When I learned to fly we had to build our own plane from wood. There was no "safe" or gyro or electric power. My first trainer was Goldberg Falcon 56 on 3 channel with a Veco .29 engine. I still have that old Falcon. Don't fly it any more but I still use the engine and still having more fun than a 75 year old deserves.

    It seems like you started flying around the same time I did. The difference between us is you had someone teaching you like I wish i could find someone to reach me. I go weeks without flying because I don’t trust my skills enough to fly in any wind. There are no flying fields close to me or clubs so I still make a lot of mistakes. I have about 10 planes and with about6 of them have never been maidened because I don’t want to crash them I have some nice 800 mm warbirds from FMS and the never been flown because I don’t have a place to takeoff from.
    Good luck 👍👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦

      Hi @vincestapleton703 I'm new to the hobby, with a Carbon Cub S2 as well, what mode (Beginner, Int, Adv) do you use when landing? when landing in Beg or Int my plane would not nose down unless I apply throttle, are you experiencing this? thanks

    • @vincestapleton703
      @vincestapleton703 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@juankaramirez
      Hi, nice to hear from you!
      I always use advanced mode for landing, that way, if things don’t look right, I’ve got plenty of control if for any reason I need to go around.
      I use full Flaps for some landings and the airplane goes into beginner mode (which I really dislike).
      As soon as I touch down, I retract the flaps and advanced mode comes back but it takes about 5 seconds for full maneuvering to return.
      Full flaps really slows the airplane down and sometimes I use full down elevator or the thing just floats and floats, doesn’t want to come down!
      Do you have a flight simulator?

    • @juankaramirez
      @juankaramirez 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @vincestapleton703 Thanks for your reply! Makes sense. it seems like final and landing needs to be done in advance mode. I don't have a simulator, I'm getting training and help at my local rc park, and the instructor had the same issues with beginner and intermediate mode. Thank you, and happy flying.

    I've got one of those little Carbon Cub's, it's a nice fun easy to fly little plane. Based on how you are doing as a first timer I assume you spent some time on the Real Flight simulator. That's definitely a good way to start. Back when I started flying RC in the mid 1970's, we didn't have simulators. In those days it wasn't a matter of how long does it take to fly but rather a matter of how many airplanes.

    I have that same plane, but with the GPS. When they first came out, you could get them RTF with the GPS already installed. One of the biggest issues with new pilots is they get too far away. You proved that with Safe on, you can teach someone to fly. I learned with the Delta Ray using Safe technology. Good job buddy. Just know, if you take it out of Safe before you get the hang of it, you will crash it. It's a much different animal out of Safe. You did a Great job for your first flight.

      GPS will protect against losing orientation. Allows you to setup a virtual fence. Cost about $50 at Horizon Hobby. Of course, having all these safeguards can delay the full learning experience. Then again, "real" experience is probably more expensive 😉

    I used to fly RC planes in college a VERY long time ago and now my son wants to get into it. I've bought him this airplane and now the 2 of us are going to try to learn together as we have no one to teach us. I heard you mention extra dihedral, did you add more than what the plane is designed with?

      No. Not really. My friend bent the wings up slightly but I dont think it did anything. It's easy to fly. This is one of the best beginner aircraft.

      I bet that with the wing struts, you could secure the attaching screws at the outer most position of the slots, which might exert a modest bit of upward pressure on the wings. Probably not much, but more than nothing I would guess.

    Great video! I bought one of these along with the Real Flight Trainer Edition simulator, looking forward to my first flight. Were you using the DXs transmitter that comes with the RTF version?
