I just did this fish with fillets. I cut in smaller 3 piece size 2lbs, and it is AMAZING. The flavor is an explosion in your mouth. My gosh, Maangchi, you are the greatest teacher. 🙏 🙏- My daughter is going to be very happy 😊

Dear Maangchi, i just made this for me and my 5 years old son and he LOVE IT!!!! He is a very good eater and is always willing to try new flavors but fish is the one thing that he is difficult with... he likes salmon and tuna but white fish usually he wont eat. So i made this with honey and since he loves honey he gave it a try... and eat 3 of 5 fillets!!! Thank you so much for sharing your recipes!!!! Every time i cook something that you vlog he always enjoy, i like so much being able to show him new flavors since in the city were live there are no koreans restaurants.... so thank you thank you thank you for the hard work you put on the videos and in cooking for us!!! Lots of hugs from Brazil!!

Made this yesterday and I I used cod filets. The starch didn't stick to the fish when I fried it. It kinda stuck to the pan. Wrong cut of fish maybe? I also forgot to add sesame oil to the sauce, BUT besides that it still came out pretty damn good! The fam dug it. A lot. I'll make it again next week. Tomorrow I'm going with honey butter chicken.

    • @auliareski

KiloCharlieOne i hope it may help: try to cover it first with stirred egg yolk, then cover it with potato starch (or you can use rice flour, it'll sticky stronger than potato starch) then leave for 10 minutes in refrigerator. It will stick to the fish and when you fry them, it will be more crunchy. :)

That looks amazingly tasty. I might make this later today if I can get the ingredients later.
The crispness of the fish looks interesting especially. Never worked with potato starch or even flour much, actually. The closest I've come to crisping things up is with bread or cheese.
That itself is quite odd since I do like some crispy coatings on fish. Can't beat nicely crisp battered fish when it is done right.
It will be something new to try at least.
Whenever I am usually making fish, I make a small sauce of paprika, garlic, curry and some olive oil butter, maybe sometimes with some finely grated carrot and the ends of green onions. Then a little water, in a container, mix it all around then heat it up.
Then I will put the green onions and rest of the carrot chopped up in with the fish, pour the sauce on, then steam for 20-30mins.
I like having that with some pilau rice and quinoa for breakfast, some times I will also lightly toast bread and finely grated cheese on top so it crisps up a bit.
Sometimes I will also add 1/6th of 3 peppers diced and thrown in with the rice and quinoa.

This gave me good memories of my dad removing the fish bones for me and my brother. We always used to fight over the tails and fins because they're so crispy😂 My mom always had a big jar with a spice mix that she would use to season the pan-fried fish. I should ask her now about what they are so that I can try making it myself. She would make lots of varieties, but my favourite is called safi in Arabic and I really miss it because it's only found in a few places in the world. The taste is similar to tilapia, but they're very small and have a bit more fat.
