While the movie wasn't quite as good as the original, the soundtrack for Blues Brothers 2000 is every bit as good as the original. I love to watch it time and time again and listen to the soundtrack in the car when I go on trips.
This movie entered into Guiness Book of Records for featuring the biggest car pile-up in history. The previous record stood for 18 years - since the original movie which held previous record. When Elwood tells others "Don't look back" and they all, naturally turn around to see, you can clearly count 63 cars.
You doing the most and could have just been you and actually liked your (only) job and not fight it,now you stuck, and stupid, thinking yourselves to know men you became a very bad representative of the females Interpretation of what a man wants, leaving you (those who aren't happy with what God made them, even want to buck and fight against nature/God himself..get it together
You could've gotten away with doing the least,he uses your track record of the little thing you had govern over to gauge what you'd do in the kingdom Jamesy, you got a whole book with your name on it but you, your name and personality and your bad leadership will be a perpetual shame to all who aided you in the destruction or near destruction 😊if God's property,no more letting the good guy die and the bad guys win and live for centuries to lie about a whole saviors life..😅we saw the trap.. Haman you set a trap for Mordecai that you fell into..it ain't my fault...you couldn't fall into a trap you made if you hadn't made a trap, now could you 😮😮😮
Junior Wells appeared in this ending and credits. Sadly, he did not live to see the finished movie as he died a month before it was released. The movie was eventually dedicated to Wells, and to the three original movie cast members who passed aways since 1980 - Cab Callaway, John Candy, and, of course, John Belushi. A further tribute to Callaway is that brand new character Cab was named after him. As of December, of the credited guest musicians 21 are still alive - Erykah Badu, all five members of Blues Traveler, Eddie Floyd, Jonny Lang, Sam Moore, Skunk Baxter, Gary U.S. Bonds, Eric Clapton, Jack DeJohnette, Jon Faddis, Charlie Musslewhite, Joshua Redman, Paul Shaffer, Travis Tritt, Jimmie Vaughan, Willie Weeks and Steve Winwood.
This movie does specifically aknowledge that Jake (John Belushi) and Curtis (Cab Calloway) passed away in the meantime, but John Candy's character Burtom Mercer was never mentioned.
I know the plot may sound dull, some of the acting performances are mediocre, some elements of the plot are out of place and some of the scenes can be cringy, but let's face it, the musical numbers and the whole score are the saint grial of this movie and this is the proof of it, such an underrated treasure
Out of all the people on the stage, I love how BB King chooses to ask Eric Clapton for "Permission" if the group should Jam. BB King: "What do you think Eric ? Eric: "No, I don't want to Jam, let's just all go home" Then everyone there would have just gone home, if Eric Clapton said "No", So that would have changed the whole movie right there. And the Movie would have just ended. It's a good thing Eric said "Why Not? "
Jim Belushi was origiinally supposed to reprise his role of Brother Zee. However, his contract with ABC for drama Total Security prevented hiim from appearing. Therefore, characters of Mighty Mack and Cab were created as his replacements.
Paul Shaffer was member of Blues Brothers band back in 1980, but he was the only member who could not appear in original movie due to scheduling conflicts with his television work. This time he managed to reschedule his TV duties so he could make appearance in this movie.
First of all, I think this could possibly(as a music fan) be the greatest scene in the industry of film. But as important, and maybe more important, Nia Peeples is the cutest and hottest woman ever.😍
One thing you have to remember when The Blues Brothers first came on the scene the great Paul Shaffer was director of the Saturday Night Live band And you can also see very clearly on both of these great songs during the jam what Paul definitely brings to the table as far as organizing this and making sure it all went down so well with all the guest players
Paul Shaffer was the original keyboardist of the original Blues Brothers band, but couldn't appear in original movie due to scheduling problems with TV career. He was replaced by Murphy Dunne. In this movie, both Shaffer and Dunne appear.
It's a shame that his career didn't take off until after the first movie was released. He could have made a cameo somewhere in the first one instead of the sequel.
John Goodman's birthday is June 20. Coincidence or not, June 20, 1980 was the date of release of the original movie. It came out on John's 28th birthday.
16 years too late, despite the cameos. The work the BBs did in-concert well prior (1978-79) to the original film carries more weight than any film, including the original. Hacking out 90-minute concerts in real-time a long time before the "fame" kicked in in 1980. A real blood-and-guts concert experience each time in the 70s - did you hear "Soul Man" in either flick? Case closed.
It's been 25 years since this film came out, & here's a list of all of the cast members who have died since its release: Junior Wells, 1998. Grover Washington Jr., 1999. Kathleen Freeman, 2001. Jeff Morris, 2004. Lou Rawls, 2006. Wilson Pickett, 2006. Billy Preston, 2006. James Brown, 2006. Bo Diddley, 2008. Isaac Hayes, 2008. Koko Taylor, 2009. Alan "Mr. Fabulous" Rubin, 2011. Clearance Clemmons, 2011. Donald "Duck" Dunn, 2012. B.B. King, 2014. Lonnie Brooks, 2017. Matt "Guitar" Murphy, 2018. Aretha Franklin, 2018. Dr. John, 2019.
Talk about a stacked and racked super group. Freaking Who's Who here. I heard that when Dan Akroyd said it was time to make this movie he "asked" a few people if they would be interested in doing a big finish at the end. The response was IMMENSE, it was so big, that they ended up writing in or changing some of the story in order to get all the people they could in. Was BB 2000 as good as the original? Oh heck no...but this song here...the entire movie is worth this one ending. Granted, ALL the musical numbers were awesome in this movie...that's for sure!
4:21 Junior Wells died one month before the release of Blues Brothers 2000 (1998). I wish this film was dedicated to him just like Belushi, Calloway, and Candy.
From all the player out there with BB. BB choose to ask Eric for the permission (yes, I know it's a movie, it could've been scripted or BB Improvise on the spot)
Only Dan Aakroyd, Kathleen Freeman, Frank Oz, Steve Lawrence and Jeff Morris reprised their roles from the original movies. Unlike Aakroyd, who was main character, all others appeared in cameos and their roles are significantly smaller than in the original movie.
I'm gutted that the part where the actors who appear earlier in the film are singing, not to mention the banging intstrumental break, isn't in the soundtrack. So good.
Thats was damn good flick if candy and John could been there it would still be a no. One box office hit movie I'd love to see all the greats when I get to heaven and shake thank him for given this Ole sinner all the blessings I could stand grab a Ole 6 string start me a rocking hillbilly blues band ain't the afterlife grand
😂😂😂 oh yes. The master dresses head to toe in black, with some 18 year old Romanian hanging off his arm. That would have made this scene so much better 😂
While the movie wasn't quite as good as the original, the soundtrack for Blues Brothers 2000 is every bit as good as the original. I love to watch it time and time again and listen to the soundtrack in the car when I go on trips.
yeah, the music was absolutely great.
@@johnthomas-km2bfThis movie did not get enough attention. I think maybe some dumb action movie must have been coming out at the same time.
The blues brothers kick ass everytime💥💥💥
Especially this line up at the end, so many legends
90% yes, just on the music. If it wasn't for that awful section for 634-5789, I would agree more.

RIP Isac Hays you were truly one of the great ones
And BB King!
There will never be a collection of multiple generational musicians gathered in one film or location and never ever again

Ironically, this was Wells' only movie appearance.

Jajajaja!! Long life Eric and Mr Blablabla Who knows what Elwood says :))))
This song makes my soul on fire
That's a good question, actually. Why does Clapton get the deciding vote? LOL
@@enriquejesusmorillaalcanta9855 Mr Gasperon is what Elwood said
Look at all the great talent Rock ‘n’ roll country Jazz Hall of Fame wow think about it
They were all probably lining up to be in this movie.
You got it all with the blues brothers-Country, Jazz, Rockabilly, Blues, and Soul!

Erykah Badu is a close second...
Much sauce, little fish.
The range of musical talent in both movies is phenomenal but obviously the 1st movie is so much better
Best part is it’s a live performance they kept in
Yes!! Such greats will not grace the stage again.
One thing you have to remember when The Blues Brothers first came on the scene the great Paul Shaffer was director of the Saturday Night Live band
And you can also see very clearly on both of these great songs during the jam what Paul definitely brings to the table as far as organizing this and making sure it all went down so well with all the guest players

Koko Taylor still had it love her voice. I could listen to this all day.

Also billy Preston 😊
I love how this was back when celebrities didn’t just cameo as themselves but actual characters
I don't think a movie like this will ever come out again.
Imagine if Stevie Ray Vaughn was still alive when this came out. He would have been there with his brother jaming.
It's a shame that his career didn't take off until after the first movie was released. He could have made a cameo somewhere in the first one instead of the sequel.
I so wish Stevie Ray Vaughan survived the Helicopter crash never injured or anything, same with Jimi Hendrix and every other classic musicians band!
Absolutely Fantastic!!!
Yes, it is.
yeah absoluty! very nice
John Goodman's birthday is June 20. Coincidence or not, June 20, 1980 was the date of release of the original movie. It came out on John's 28th birthday.
Sub standard movie. Fucking AMAZING soundtrack that makes up for it.

Overall I wasn’t a big fan of this movie (compared to the original), but the music is keeps me coming back to watch.
If you are feeling down, watch this !
Nobody watches BB2K for the movie, they watch it’s for the damn cast. Goddamn nobody appreciates the cast in this movie.
Preach. It’s for the music
Absolutely
Blues Brothers 2000 is almost as good as the original yes the music and cast is incredible but it's also a very funny movie
Wonderful song 🎉
So cool they got the compete Blue Brothers band with Paul

While the original had legends in the band this movie went over the top and i wish we could doone more session before the are all gone.
Crazy how a couple of The Louisiana Gator Boys did voices on Arthur
❤
Lol i would've turned to my whole band and asked permission...though lets be honest musicians gonna wanna perform and collaborate with each other.

I was wondering how could they do this without George Thorogood or Bruce Willis? They're both blues rockers.
Far better than the closing number of the original.
