You can tell Judge Judy felt bad for the defendants she was unusually nice when the daughter interrupted and told her she doesn't have to answer things the mom said/asked. And Judge Judy usually tells off non working single moms yelling at them to get a job which she did not do in this case. As a matter of fact she told the plaintiff that the daughter has no working history just like the plaintiff has no working history yet called out the mother and not the daughter. So glad that Judge Judy saw the pain in the daughter.

I like the way Judge Mathis runs his court a little better because he lets both sides talk occasionally whereas Judy stays on one side for too long which makes the other person so nervous that they don't think they're going to get a chance to speak so they talk when they shouldn't.
She could go back and forth a little more and give each a chance to speak. I really felt for this young girl. The mother is getting $1300.00 a month and is living with her brother so she probably doesn't even pay any rent if he's a welder he's making good money, I'd like to strangle the old hag.

Judge Mathis had a similar case where mom was suing son for not paying her back for legal fees. Mom had a crack addiction for like 30 years and had only been clean for 3 years. Then she gets up decides I'm gonna sue that low life for not paying me back. You cost him way more than he owes you. I don't know why these parents don't have more grace toward their children who's lives they altered and destroyed and just call it even. Don't help them anymore. Money doesn't grow on trees for anyone but don't sue your own children who you essentially abandoned. Shameful.

Judge Mathis had another case of a father who'd been abusive and in jail for most of his son's childhood suing the son for failure to pay back some money they son had borrowed for the medical costs of delivering the son's child. It always pisses me off to see deadbeat parents take their kids to court when the parent knows that they were absent and inactive during the child's most important years. Whatever little money you think your offspring owes you should just slide as a gift. That's the LEAST a parent could do if the parent knows damn well that they didn't properly care for their child in the early years. Here's a thought: If they'd been great, nurturing parents, their kids probably wouldn't NEED so much financial assistance as adults.

Often times,, it’s just them being children and burning the energy that they’re loaded with. What this was, is the plaintiff was tired of being a mother. While you can still see the pain in the daughter’s face, you can still see the disconnect of motherly love for her daughter. Pathetic excuse for a mother.

There are people out there who outright neglect their kids and fail to protect them from harm. That has consequences. Children that young can't tell you what's wrong so they will show you. It sounds like mom could hardly care for herself let alone two children. Only Lord knows what she did to those kids. She's clearly still lying to herself.

Doesn't matter what her childhood was like, once she became an adult, she's responsible for herself and for the children she choose to have. She can't continue to blame mommy anymore once she's grown. It's called self responsibility/self accountability.
If she doesn't start to take responsibility for her life, who will??
And once her kids are grown and _they_ start to blame her (just like how she blames her mommy) then the cycle will just repeat itself, generation after generation. So she needs to be the one to stop the cycle and start taking self responsibility for her life choices.

I can’t say I went through the same thing as the daughter, but I feel for her regardless. I stopped talking to my mother for good two years ago, because after 20 freaking years of dealing with her and deluding myself, I just had enough. She was an absolutely horrible and narcissistic person, always gaslighting me, emotionally, physically and mentally abusing me, and taking advantage of beating me and any of my younger siblings all because of the youngest one (her golden child). Things have changed, we no longer blame our youngest brother for what we dealt with decades ago, but we’ve all come to the realization that she was and continues to be a TOXIC person.
This lady is even LUCKY her daughter makes eye contact with her at all, because how evil of a person do you have to be to just throw your daughter into the system over “normal” things kids do? Judge Judy was right to tell her to keep quiet, because she could see through that mother’s BS.

That woman is a lousy mother. When a 3 year old toddler displays that kind of behavior it’s because she’s being abused or witnessing abuse. You don’t abandon you baby to live with strangers so you don’t have to get your stuff in order. You fix the problems in the home and protect your child. I feel really bad for the defendant. As irresponsible as she is financially, she came from a bad childhood and at least she keeps her kids.

The daughter was arguing that she did not agree to pay it back, that her mother offered the help. The mother couldn't prove it was a loan, and JJ wasn't going to help her prove it was a loan because she's a POS and a terrible mother. As soon as she said she abandoned her child at ten years old due to behavioural difficulties, the case was lost unless she had airtight proof in the form of legal paperwork to force a decision.
Obviously 4 kids, no job, the daughter's in a shitty position in her life but perhaps if she'd been given a better start it wouldn't have been like that. She seems mentally defeated and in a lot of pain, probably depressed. The damage that her mother done by abandoning her, far outweighs those electrical bills.
