And also while they made a close-up shot on John Nolan’s weapon you could clearly see that’s it’s a prop. I also love the occasional holster hoods being down for no reason, creating a huge risk for the officers. Even Tim Bradford does it later in the show.

After working for years and after an accident not being able to do so anymore, I want back to school to earn my school certificate and go further to university. I was no cop like Nolan, but I was the old one, noone believed in. After I got my certificate my class teacher apologized for thinking that I was just an obstacle for the rest of the class. She never thought, I might end up as the best of the class, but so I did, only one with the perfect grade at the end. This show feels the same way. Noone believes in Nolan at the start but he becomes one of the best.
This was such an intense scene. Heck I don't blame West for freezing in the moment. For a rookie to face a shootout like this, I'd probably freeze too.
This whole sequence is mastery of writing and acting. It's absolutely clear that if Nolan hadn't run, the gangster would have taken the shot to Bradford and Chin. TO was rigid, too slow. Grey was in bullshit. Nolans speach is the mastery of dialogue writing.
