I knew Jim was awesome crazy but he did not changed. And he may never change and that's the best. No zillions notes but just the necessary ones. He has them! Believe me..
How often do you hear somebody who knows how to get the sounds out of a Les Paul like that. I remember the Rockets at Captain Ahab's and Pier 500 back in the 70s and he's only improved,
I was at this show and they were incredible!! I think it was around November(ish) in maybe 2012 or 13. I never got to see them when Dave was alive, back in the day, but this singer was excellent too. Then I saw them open for Night Ranger a couple of years ago at the Rockin' On The Riverfront, and it was all new people, except the singer. It was like watching a bad cover band. :-(
I can't help about the shape I'm in I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin But don't ask me what I think of you I might not give the answer that you want me to Oh well Now, when I talked to God I knew he'd understand He said, "Stick by my side and I'll be your guiding hand But don't ask me what I think of you I might not give the answer that you want me to" Oh well I can't help about the shape I'm in I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin But don't ask me what I think of you I might not give the answer that you want me to Oh well
So excited to see the rockets Saturday July 19 DTE Ted Nugent and another band will also be playing so if you're going , get there early Rockets go on first!!
No Ballads, Jimmy McCarty one fine blues man, saw the first time at the Trading post east, their hit was freckles on her butt. I was huge into em, then they were gone. Why the new lead singer? Did the original guy OD? Always wanted to see Jim and Steven Hunter jam.
Yea, my thoughts exactly, and the date and the fact that I saw smart phones in the audience I would have to say too small a venue for Cobo Hall and way too late for the Grande Ball Room or the East Town Theater.
No No, they went for Cost effectiveness, they moved the Fillmore...EAST!!! hahaha Originally, this was the Palms Theatre, then The State, and now The Fillmore. The Fillmore East is gone, but the West is still kickin'!!! Today, they make a travesty of anything and everything!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your Mother is correct. History lesson: Bill Graham started the Fillmore East(N.Y.) and the Fillmore West(San Fran.). The East was originally a vaudeville theatre and the West is a Very old car Dealership, with a second floor converted to a concert hall. When Bill (R.i.P) Graham died , so did the Fillmore's. Actually, it was way before his passing that they folded. The East was Partially demolished, but the West still throws random concerts. Now, for the Fillmore in Detroit. This is just a Name Change, it never was a Fillmore. Like i stated above, originally it was built(30's?) and named the 'Palms Theatre' and then the 'State Theatre' and now...Fillmore. Only reason it's called the Fillmore just recently, is because it changed names like the previous owners/renters name changes. If i'm not mistaken, some of Bill Graham's family are involved in the ownership/rental of the Detroit Fillmore. If you research Bill Graham, make sure it's Bill, Not Billy---the evangelist. Thanx, C'Ya.
Fillmore is nothing but a corporate trademark now, owned by Live Nation. There were only two, East and West, there is now only one REAL Fillmore, the West. This was recorded at the STATE Theater in Detroit which is marketed by LN as "Fillmore". There are "Fillmores" all over the country. BS I say.
OH WELL..... IF IT WAS ONLY DONE WITH DAVE GILBERT HEY THE BAND IS TIGHT BUT NO DAVE GILBERT BUT IT IS GREAT TO HERE THEM PLAY AGAIN I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THIS COVE ALWAYS BLOWS AWAY THE FLEETWOOD MAC VERSION
+Robert Scott Check out the version of TH-cam with Bob Welch playing the lead for FleetwoodMac. I am a huge McCarty Fan... he has that super tone with that Ampeg Scrambler. Nice the way, they inserted the Zep break.
Little hard to do it with Dave these days, considering... If you can find the Rockets Live album or CD, Dave is simply stunning on that recording from the Royal oak Music Theater.
great, great guitar by jim mccarty, but this definitely profits from twin guitar leads, as in the `79 version...and as for the vocalist, well frankly, dunno...
As many a times I seen them, they just never had the stage. Always bored with them and that my friends is why they never made it big. Thumbs down me, but its the truth
He's off writing country songs, making a gazillion dollars a pop. lol Seriously, he writes country music and has written some HUGE hits for other people
The Rockets had a following here in California as well. Great music has no borders.
Damn!! I grew up listening to these guys on Detroit radio stations (101.1 the WRIF) and they sound as fantastic here as they did in the early 80's :)
Same. That guitar solo rocks, throws in a splash of Zep like it suppose to be there
Just browsing covers of this tune in memory of Peter Green. May he rest in peace.
doing the same. Seen the cover by Haim?
ivpaul42 their live version was pretty hot.
@@genebryant3333 I did not think so. Like most Detroit rockers, they lacked finesse and tried to compensate with volume and showmanship.
Same here!
Great band... Another example of Deeeeetroit rock 'n' roll at it's best....
Saw them at Jaggers in the early to mid 1980s. Those were the days.
Jimmy Mc your a tone master you bad ass you thanks for the music
Nothing beats Detroit Rock and Roll!
Yeah Buddy ! Was at that 19th annual Motor City Music Awards !👍
I remember seeing them every Wednesday night at the 24 Karat Club on Telegraph Road
@paulross1889 • I was there a few times when the Rockets played !
He was spanking that Les Paul! A little BRING IT ON HOME spilled out!
Detroit guitar players know how to bend strings better than most. I learned a lot from Jim McCarty and Ted Nugent when it comes to bends.
RIP David Gilbert
The great Detroit Rocket s
I knew Jim was awesome crazy but he did not changed. And he may never change and that's the best. No zillions notes but just the necessary ones. He has them! Believe me..
Great live band. Really knew how to get the crowd going.
Great version 👌👌🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
One of the best bands i have ever had the pleasure to see live !
made in the motor city...great stuff!
Great jam from summer of '79.
How often do you hear somebody who knows how to get the sounds out of a Les Paul like that. I remember the Rockets at Captain Ahab's and Pier 500 back in the 70s and he's only improved,
Jim Edwards was so great with this band. Wish they were still around!
I always thought their version of this track was by far the best most rocking version by far
I thought they wrote it.
+Smokey298 It's a Fleetwood Mac song from the Peter Green era.
Its good but no where near Peter Green's
Can't help it about the shape I'm. Can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin. But I know a good guitar player when I hear one. J.M
@@bozboz133 or even Tom Petty's

Love the Detroit Sound!
I believe Frijid Pink was also from Detroit, Again the Detroit Sound!!❤️

Badass Detroit Rock n Roll. Actually saw them at the Jackson County Fair way back. I've got two Albums. Not sure how many they put out.

I saw them open for Rush at the Saginaw Civic Center back in the day. Great show!

I remember watching them open for KISS.

They also TORE UP the Royal Oak Music Theater!
Saw them in 1978 open for UFO at the Hammond Civic Center.
Ufo can wail love the tune anyday, the guitar solos are. killer

😂😂😬🤯
💀..hosted them worms myself, time or 2..😵💫.hee hee..
Is this the famous Ampeg Scrambler pedal?
P.S. Love Transfusion came out in the later 70s and there was a earlier "tax write off" LP.
kinda slick the way he slipped that Zeppelin in there...
Just like all the other copies I have heard of Peter Green songs. NO FEELING!!! That's what he was all about; the blues, man! RIP
If you aren't going to throw your own into it, then what's the point? That song, their style . . .
Curious though..... Filmore had a Venue in Detroit ? Would be nice to know the Date of this Show !
Filmore was the old State theater on the same block as the Fox Theater
It was downloaded in Feb. 2011, so probably around then.
Jimmy McCarty amazing ! Remember Cactus?
Big Jim McCarthy, two twin reverb blackfaces, great !!!!!! Legend...dime em out baby
Greasy Carlisi my homie on bass. Rips on guitar as well!
Is that Greasy Carlisi on bass??

Their cover of this song was hands down better than the original.
I'm hearing the versions to compare it with the original fleetwood mac
