I dont know why as soon as she started playing this it hit me right in the feels. A traditional Irish song played on a traditional Japanese instrument. This song sounds so warm and familiar. Like a time when things were simple yet so beautiful. Goosebumps.
These instruments showcases you’ve been doing are awesome. Its been really interesting to not only listen to them but to learn about them, their history, and about the people who play them
I love that this is an Irish tune on a Japanese instrument-Is like to hear a Japanese tune with traditional Irish instruments now! Beautiful song performed wonderfully on a magnificent instrument.
Have you ever listened to Zelda: Breath of The Wild's soundtrack? It's a video game, but some of the music is really quite gorgeous. One of my personal favorites is the music for Hateno Village; it's like a Japanese take on a Scottish Highlands village. Give it a go.
Same. It reminds me of a time I don't know of, but wish to see. Like if I were to journey into the woods, I might find a memory of this song singing throughout the trees.
Anyone else thinking that this is what it sounds like, when the sun is setting after a nice warm summer day? When the sky is coloured light pink and a warm breeze is flowing over a green field? No one?
Midori is known for her performance of the same piece on violin. It's a testament to the power of music that two Japanese women can create such lovely interpretations of an Irish song.
This played in Rudy. The feels. Such a. Beautiful tune and rather beautiful to see the different cultures appreciating each other. This is truly the quality content the world needs.
I just keep listening to this, going through a difficult time right now and this piece just sounds so reassuring, like eventually everything will be ok and you'll be able to move on from the things that hurt you. Like the hand of someone you trust on your shoulder
I could really feel and picture this period of summer. I just imagined my youth as one filled with sunshine and popsicle sticks pilling in the bin and long walks outside. Then the climax hit and the end gave me such a deep feeling of nostalgia that I nearly cried
I'm so glad you put this as a separate video on the 2nd channel Rob. Was watching the full video with a friend and we were analyzing this song in particular. It's instantly recognizable as Irish, but at the same time it gives you this little bit of a confused feeling because the Koto is so recognizable as a Japanese sound. But even with that, it's such an amazing fusion of sounds and gives me goosebumps.
The lyrics in this masterpiece is actually a bittersweet story about a person watching the people they love die, then dying themselves to join their loved ones.
This song on the Koto has become my happy place music. I have this video downloaded and whenever I listen to it, it feels like every bad thing goes away for a few moments. I love this.
This song has lyrics! 'Tis the last rose of summer Left blooming alone All her lovely companions Are faded and gone No flow'are of her kindred No rosebud is nigh To reflect back her blushes Or give sigh for sigh I'll not leave thee thou lone one To pine on the stern Since the lovely are sleeping Go sleep thou with them Thus kindly I'll scatter Thy leaves o'er the bed Where thy mates of the garden Lie scentless and dead So soon may I follow When friendships decay And from love's shining circle The gems drop away When true hearts lie wither'd And fond ones are flow'n Oh! who would inhabit This bleak world alone?
I've ever accidentally play this melody on guitar before. not exactly the same, but really close to this. that time i still haven't heard this song. but, i it give me a massive nostalgia. i played that right after i wake up from afternoon sleep. it's feel so weird yet very comforting. now that i heard the song, the feeling is amazing. never knew this song but wow.. the fact that I've accidentally play the melody makes me fell really great.
It's going to sound so lame but in all of robs vids with the unique instruments, where they play an entire song, I tear up every fucking time. It's so beautiful.
I really appreciate you posting this performance excerpt on your second channel. Amazing performance, from an amazing koto player. You did mighty excellent as well for a beginner.
This piece always gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it. But this bring the tears out of me..just the love the way she plays it..the best I've heard so far on a Koto
Her smile at the end tells me everything I need to know about life. In a world of fast-paced changes in technology, and all the horrible shit going on, it's awesome that old traditional instruments are being kept alive. With anyone being able to make music on a computer, the talent of actually learning an instrument is slowly dying out.
It's been 8 months now but it doesn't matter how long it's been since I've last watched it in between but I cry every single time. Her smile at the end just sells this. Thank you
Are these tears flowing from my eyes? Her playing is just beautiful.🤍 Been listening to koto performances after watching Kono Oto Tomare and now I WANNA LEARN IT.
I can almost imagine a story from this song... after a serious tragedy, the first bit of hope pokes its head out. the rain has stopped, and the warmth is here. the hope that showed turned into joy and happiness and something worth cherishing. The past still haunts but is less of a burden because of the beautiful joy warmth and happiness that came around. it sounds like that kinda story and it's absolutely beautiful .... almost brings a tear to my eye.
Such a beautiful instrument; something about stringed instruments. 😎 I love percussion as well but man that Koto sounds and looks good, bonus is; it's antique.
Okay there is something about this instrument and song that make me feel really... "warm" I don't know! I'm the cold, moody type of person so this isn't something that has ever actually happened to me (as far as I remember). Very very cool
I was surprised at how much tension is on the strings when the bridges are in place also the the strings have a texture to them. Just had one given to me as a gift a couple weeks ago and still haven't gotten the hang of it.
I don’t know if it’s just the melody of this song or the key of the instrument, but I couldn’t help but feel that at any moment she was going to bridge into “The Shire” theme from LOTR haha beautiful instrument 🎵 Just saw that this was a traditional Irish song, probably partially why it sounds like that of LOTR

It makes me feel like I'm toasting an old friend farewell with a glass of whiskey while sakura petals fall around me.

Aki Tenebricus For me, it's the soundtrack for absolute contentment.
Honestly I do and being one to love the summer I'm going to save this song to play for watching the sun set
Sun setting sky pink/ warm breeze granting us comfort/ green field dancing slow
I didn't think of this but it's beautiful. What a nice scene!
Yes!
As an irishman, this moved me to tears. Stunning. Just stunning. Had a knot on my throat all the way through listening.
Right around :20 I knew this was something incredibly special, just a beautiful sound on those familiar notes.
Release the knot and cry your feels away man, it's amazing! Even stubborn Irishmen needs it! :)
@PjesmeByArttoniosPapamufulos you look about 60 and using "bro" in a sentence. That's horrific.
I was hoping you’d post this
God, that smile at the end is so precious! She knows she did a really good job

I have always loved the sound of the Koto! Such beautiful expression.
The koto makes guzheng feel like childs play
This song has lyrics!
'Tis the last rose of summer
Left blooming alone
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone
No flow'are of her kindred
No rosebud is nigh
To reflect back her blushes
Or give sigh for sigh
I'll not leave thee thou lone one
To pine on the stern
Since the lovely are sleeping
Go sleep thou with them
Thus kindly I'll scatter
Thy leaves o'er the bed
Where thy mates of the garden
Lie scentless and dead
So soon may I follow
When friendships decay
And from love's shining circle
The gems drop away
When true hearts lie wither'd
And fond ones are flow'n
Oh! who would inhabit
This bleak world alone?
