    I read somewhere that she actually (and) unfortunately overheard that the competition was rigged so that she could never have become first place... she overheard this moments before performing this piece. The audience loved her, the jury did not. So when she was invited on stage to perform an encore she was still feeling this emotion and "didn't really care" at the time that she was playing music for her audience. This is why she heavily leans on the piano at 10:56 and ends up in tears....
    It's politics vs. what the audience loves.
    I don't even care to look up the name of the person who got first place.
    In my eyes and ears, Clara-Jumi Kang won the competition.

      Right? I thought she was going to ajust the bow, or tune the strings. But no. Just bam!!. And she hardly ever seems to look at the violin. Awesome performance. I've always liked Midori's performance of the piece in Carnegie Hall better, but this is very good.

    She is one of very few violinists today that I think we still can see the "old school style" playing. I do not know why some how I can hear Heifetz's sound in her interpretation. It is just my opinion

      @viktorseifert9494 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree! This doesn’t apply to Heifetz specifically because he used arm vibrato, but Clara uses wrist vibrato which was much more common in the past than it is now, and many greats like Oistrach used wrist vibrato.

    What she is better than other violinists is her emtional or passion given to the piece of music that she actually has made her own style n brand。In 2015 competition, there was no first prize。 The first runner up was a young man from Taiwan, Yu Chien Tseng。 This young guy is known to have perfect pitch as discovered at the age of 3-4。 His accuracy in pitch n tempo or rhythm was perfect during the competition。 Clara did make a few off pitch during that competition。 Stress could be the reason。

    • @russellbaston974

      Vrfvfd Cdvgtre It’s an Etude, study, based upon the song. Really a fiendishly difficult exercise, for the most advanced violinists, indeed many think this to be THE most technically difficult piece, ever written for the instrument. Etudes, like this are sometimes hard to listen to as ‘entertainment’ they aren’t really intended for that, they are esoteric, the music is written by a violinist, for violinists.

      @@russellbaston974 Still, there is the poem by Thomas Moore, and, apparently, even the aria by Friedrich von Flotow is "theme and variations" of a traditional melody. A great artist like Kang is at her most appealing when singing, because great instrumentalists are singers. Therefore, I would rather hear sing with her violin, as does Norma Burrowes, soprano: th-cam.com/video/afBrivvgBlE/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=NEBurrowes

      @@russellbaston974 Still, it is a pity the song is lost in translation. The most appealing parts of it are singing. The Flotow`s aria form "Letze Rose" (by Erna Berger, or by Norma Burrowes in English) is most simple. Perhaps it would not offer much violinistic challenges - technically. Artisticly, it would. Such style is evident in Kang`s interpretation of Kreisler`s Liebesleid.
