@sincor skateboarding ect As long as they've been public, their first obligation is to their shareholders. Get away from that, you can get sued or voted off the board (meaning no more board pay or comped expenses). The illusion that most of these companies were generally moral comes from their conduct of most profitable behavior aligning with what looks good to the market of buyers.
They've had generous benefits for a long time, but that's probably due to a combination of two things:
      * wage price controls in the past where employers weren't allowed to increase cash pay, so they offered other things
      * being cash poor at least in a current sense and offering future benefits to employees to get through negotiations
Those are both things that arise out of needing to make money, not give it away.

as far as i understand, keyless ignition fobs are CONSTANTLY sending a weak signal regardless of if you're pressing the LOCK or UNLOCK buttons, which is how the car knows if the key is in the car or not.. thieves use a device to AMPLIFY the signal (even outside your home) to allow unlocking and STARTING of the vehicle. a faraday cage can be useful

Great advice Scotty. When we bought my daughter a car for going to college we only received 1 electronic key. I bought another one from the dealer for $275 and bought a valet key for another $90. We hide the valet key on the car in case she loses her key while away from home. I know it is old school and a risk but that is what I do on all my cars - and it has come in handy a couple of times. It is tough to find a good metal surface now days with all the plastic in cars.

Fun video. I lectured my wife of the importance of always having a 2nd key.
Additional observation he missed: For battery keyfobs, always have a spare BATTERY around. For newer cars that won't start without a charge, and if you're in the middle of nowhere then there's a problem. For some cars that include a built in backup door opener (old fashioned key), you can keep the spare battery in the glove compartment and then load it up and start the car if needed.

@@pt109che That’s interesting,I just retired as a Audi/VW tech and even if you lose all your keys you can order up to 5 keys only through the dealership by serial number and in person with id and ownership and all will be coded one at a time.another example is if you have 2 keys and want a third you need to bring the 2 keys to be coded with the new one,but if you forgot to bring both keys and only brought one then the new one would be coded to the one and the one at home would now not work. Then you have to come back with all the keys and recode again.

We have always bought a third key for our cars and trucks after having to have a used car that only had one. It cost almost $200. many years ago. So we pay up front now for a third key even for the one keyless van we have. My children don't and one has only one key for one of their cars !!! Looking forward to the new channel.

I bought my Taco used from a Yota dealership, and they were gonna let me just drive right off the lot with only 1 set of the Immobilizer keys. I told them, "Nuh uh, these things come with 2 new, so I want 2." I held off for 5 more days on actually taking custody of the vehicle until THEY programmed me a new set of keys.
