    That key fob is a good concept ✊🏾 However, it’s too big not to include an auto-start feature, a locator feature connected to your phone, a feature to lock out anyone from using it without you knowing or even a feature to stop anyone from changing the settings. What do you think, Alex? Have you been able to find a key fob like that in your search.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  3 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      Hi Michael! it's size is almost identical to the BMW LCD key you get with the 7 series, it actually looks like a straight copy of it lol but I also think the size is mostly limited by the need for the new key fob to fit your old key circuit board inside and the size of the touchscreen itself. But man I do really like the ideas you propose, I can see them adding a pin code or some other locking way via the next firmware update, that definitely could be done. Even the autostart (it's no fun to install, it was so frustrating when I installed one I swore I would never done one again lol) could be done like an add on for those that want the additional option. I think if enough people request this from FitcamX it could happen. Thanks for watching and commenting bud!

      Hi Stille! LOL! Yes LCD touchscreen remotes are definitely not for everyone. When BMW introduced this one with their 7 Series, many people really loved it while others choose to get the standard key fob. So it's been interesting to see how now exotic car manufacturers are including them as an option now but also offer the normal key option for those than want to keep things simple. Really cool fob but it seems a bit bulky for my taste ; my '18 Honda has remote start, smart entry with the fob in my pocket, and auto-locking too so I don't really see a benefit for my case. Really cool video nonetheless!

      Thanks Hellfire SPMA! yeah I think the biggest benefit is for the folks with keys that don't have those features already. • @rueben44
      @rueben44 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rueben44 Hi RayJ-HT! if you use the included Bluetooth adapter, you can enable the comfort feature which is when the key fob locks and unlocks the doors automatically for you (without having to press the unlock or lock button on the fob). An app on my smartphone could do all this and more, will be crossing the mind of every buyer of this device after they've used it for a day or so.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mark ! An App would be neat! the main issue would be that the transmitter on key fobs operates in a different frequency that a smartphone can't produce. Some cars like Tesla and the new Mustang Mach-E got smart, they use Bluetooth in combination with NFC instead of the normal frequency used by key fobs to operate the car. On those cars you can use your phone as the key to operate the car, which I think is pretty awesome! Hope this helps, Cheers!

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@christopherhowson7383 Hi Christopher! if they sell a kit to autostart fire trucks remotely then yes this smart key fob could potentially take that remote (assuming it fits inside the case) and active the remote start switch for you. That being said, based on what I saw in the mfg industry of fire related devices, I probably would not recommend it for life critical applications where on demand performance is required, typical devices used in this application have several redundancies and require long development times to ensure they always function (cost goes up as well). Now if it's a Fire Truck used for parades and other non emergency services, yeah but go for it, that would probably make a really cool video too, seeing a Fire Truck start remotely! Hi G S! This key fob does not come with a hard key (the inside contains the battery and the electronics of your old key fob). For those cases you can enable the comfort feature so the fob opens and locks the doors for you, your key would only be used for the car's ignition. However you could eliminate the key completely by adding a push start using a kit like this one amzn.to/2Z12Xsr The contents of the remote start key would then be transferred to the LCD key fob that way you won't have to carry two key fobs. • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi TheBadBone23! Unfortunately nope. Remember the doors locks are controlled by the smart remote not the Bluetooth adapter (the adapter is just to let the keyfob know how far away you are from the car, it does not control the car directly). However I do think an App would be neat! but the main issue would be that the transmitter on key fobs operates in a different frequency that a smartphone can't produce. Some cars like Tesla and the new Mustang Mach-E got smart, they use Bluetooth in combination with RFID instead of the normal frequency used by key fobs to operate the car. On those cars you can use your phone as the key to operate the car, which I think is pretty awesome! Hope that makes sense and thanks for watching!

      Did this affect the car battery or anything else negatively?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're welcome Ahmed! The OBD2 adapter is a low power consumption device. But even low power draw devices can eventually drain a car battery. Now how long will it take for it to happen will depend on the car's battery, size, age, health condition and state of charge. In addition to that you also want to take in consideration any parasitic draw from other items on the vehicle that use power when the car is off. This is specially common on newer vehicles. For example I have an older Jeep that can sits for months a time with little to no battery draw, then I have a 2017 car that will almost completely drain my battery in a few weeks if the car is not used (mind you that car does not have any aftermarket devices connected to it). And here is the battery tester I use th-cam.com/video/kCNrfa8RUKU/w-d-xo.html if you want to test your battery for capacity and health, it can also perform a parasitic draw test if needed. Cheers!@@AhmedKalei

    • @AlexAutoFun

      Hi Mitch! Correct, if the comfort function is enabled (locking and unlocking automatically) the car will unlock as you approach it as shown on the video and if leaving the car, it will lock as shown on the video. And here is the X-900 th-cam.com/video/m94fFgXrJEY/w-d-xo.html where they have added additional controls such as sensitivity for how close you want the be to the car before the comfort system kicks in. Can you program Keyless start? Similar to spamming the lock button to start it up?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tesla Bot! There is no programming required, the smart LCD remote just presses the button for you (electronically) regardless of the button function (the smart remote doesn't know what the button activates, it just knows that it has to activate whatever button you have pressed on the touchscreen or on it's physical buttons) So if your current remote supports keyless start by pressing a button then that functionality will transfer over to the LCD key fob. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

      Hi SMART ASSIST! Yes there are two ways this can be tested, one would be using this amzn.to/3nAHJxZ to test the remote control to see if it works. The second way is to check the actual car with a scanner like this one th-cam.com/video/TiLQYqwKq6A/w-d-xo.html or this one th-cam.com/video/Yy21TsscA_c/w-d-xo.html to see if the issue is on the car's side. Hi A! The Key fob does not add remote start unless your car already has it. However remote start can be added to the car using a kit like this one amzn.to/2Z12Xsr or similar. The contents of the remote start key would then be transferred to the LCD key fob that way you won't have to carry two key fobs. And here is the advanced the version of this key fob where they added more options for automating remote start th-cam.com/video/m94fFgXrJEY/w-d-xo.html Cheers!

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alexdev5809 Hi Alex! no you don't need to carry around two key fobs, the LCD key fob works with turn key cars. What I meant to say is that you can always add push start later (those systems come with their own remote which at that point can be combined into a single remote) but you don't have to worry about this if you are not looking to add push start. The LCD key fob will replace your existing car key remote, so you only will carry one remote. Hope this makes sense. Cheers!

      Hi Roman! Correct, unfortunately if your BMW needs you to insert your original key fob into the dash for the car to work, then the LCD Key Fob won't likely work for you since it probably won't fit in the dash correctly like the old one did. Hope this helps, Cheers!
