    I’ve had six kids (all by c-sections) and my main issue was how tired I was as the momma, even on a very clean diet.

    Thank you so much.💗 My children are 13, 10, barely 5 and 1! Oh my word this transition us tough and I've been homeschooling 7 years! It's harder than ever! I thought I had a great plan but it's not working. I think I need to go back to having the big kids take turns with the littles while I work with the other. I have tried everything and this seems to be the only thing that works. My pregnancy and birth was very difficult so for the last 2 years school had been very basic with only math and grammar and I have been ready for something fresh and different to add so I am sure the kids have felt that way too. Adding things like history and science has been a challenge. I am praying that the Lord show me and lead me in what will work. Thank you for the encouragement.

    Our babies will only be babies but for so long. Try hard to enjoy this precious yet hectic time cuz it passes so fast and u won’t get it back. Much love to everyone trying to homeschool and raise the next generation of independent thinkers ❤️

    This is so helpful. I’m just starting homeschooling my son, and I have my 2 year old and another 2 year old I’m watching. I’m planning on using nap time to do most of my sons homeschooling. I know it will get to crazy!

    I had to laugh as we just had our 5th baby in August, the same week that we started school! It has been crazy for sure, but we are part of a charter homeschool system and couldn't really stop schooling. But we did try to simplify as much as possible. Great tips, thank you!

    This was SO helpful Erica! I have an almost 4 year old and am planning on beginning your LOTW curriculum this fall. I was a bit nervous about how to occupy my 1.5 year old, but I think your tips about providing them with their own workspace & using nap time wisely were great ideas! Thank you!

    Best advice ever. My kiddos are 8, 6, 4, and 2 and I can vouch for this all being solid advice! Our two-year old is a sweet tornado! :P I would love to get your advice on how to keep the toddler out of the oldest child's special things... we have tried putting his things in a gated area, putting it all up on a loft bed with a gate on the door (so toddler can't climb up there and fall off) but our toddler can open all baby gates even the tall ones! He finds something to stand on!

    I was just on your website, can you add books like To kill a Mockingbird, I Know Why the Cage Bird Sings, and other African American literature in your unit studies? Thank you.

    So I have a 7, 4 and 19 month old. We also are living with my inlaws right now so we are schooling out of their dining room and my 19 month old can't really be in there b/c there are small things that she can't get into. so she usually plays in the living room which is kind of far from the dining room. we've been doing more read aloud type school and calendar notebooks when she is awake in the living room and then i have been trying to alternate the big kids to play with her while i work with the other one. but my 4 yr old is a little rough and not quite old enough just to play with her. by nap time i'm so exhausted i can't think straight. how do you homeschool during nap time when you yourself needs a time out? :/

    • @erica_arndt
      @erica_arndt  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, been there too! I would try to get to bed early if you can because I'm not sure about you, but I haven't had a nap since I had kids 13 years ago LOL! I'm not sure how long your little one naps, but you might be able to institute a 15 min. quiet time where everyone can read quietly or just chill, then try to hit school after everyone has had a break from the chaos of the morning?

    I have an almost 2 yr old who is a sponge... She learns so quickly but is your typical hyper, destructive toddler lol any tips with how i can get her to settle down for story time without her wanting to tear up the books?

    • @erica_arndt
      @erica_arndt  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! You might want to try having her sit and watch while you read to her, you turn pages and show her the pictures like at a story time at a library where the kids sit and listen. I also suggest mixing that "sitting still" time with allowing her to participate in the story telling as well. I would start with board books that are a bit more durable and tactile for her. That way she can touch them and be involved. The rest will come as she grows up a little, it just takes time and consistency and telling her to be "gentle" with books. Allow her to carefully touch the pages with your help, show her how to turn them, etc. Even though she's two you don't want to allow her to "destroy" toys or books etc. She does need to learn that she needs to be careful with things. But like I said, as you teach her that, I would also make sure to have more durable things around until she learns how to be more respectful of things :)

    I know this is an older video, but my 8th grader is doing distance learning and needs constant direction, help and guidance and I have 19 month old twins and a 3 year old. Do you have any suggestions on how I can manage this chaos? I would really appreciate any help I can get!

    • @erica_arndt
      @erica_arndt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sabrina, If your younger kiddos are too much of a distraction you may consider doing school while they're napping. That way you can be there to help your 8th grader get through their work. Hopefully with a little bit of practice your 8th grader will soon be able to navigate through the distance learning once they get used to it, and they'll start to need you a little less. At that point you can move back to them doing school in the mornings or whenever works for them. If that's not an option because you're doing school where they have to be logged on at certain times, I would suggest finding an activity you can set your younger kids up with while your 8th grader is doing school. For example put everyone in the kitchen and give the littles an activity like play-doh or painting, something they can do independently. Then you can also be close to your 8th grader while they do their school.
