In regards to why Steelix is lighter than Mudsdale, I always thought it was because Steelix's body was actually made of Titanium. One of the lightest and strongest metals around

Because like with many things with Gamefreak they like to remove features that should have been staple ever since they were introduced. Like the Pokemon following mechanic from HGSS or the Pokeball throwing mechanic from Legends Arceus.

Solgaleo's typing is based on the fact that ancient alchemists believed that the sun is a giant ball of red-hot iron.
That and the fact that the sun isn’t actually made of fire but of nuclear energy.

The weird part is that they weren't wrong. The CORE is a massive body of superheated iron, you just can't see it past the layer of NUCLEAR EXPLOSIONS occupying the space immediately surrounding it. One of those insane physics anomalies we still don't quite understand WHY continues to happen, but we do understand WHAT is happening and HOW it works.
That alchemist was truly ahead of his time...

The reason why alolan raichu is a psychic type is because it’s in a more relaxing ecosystem, awakening it’s latent psychic abilities. This can be seen in the original series, where in the surfing episode, there wqs a super old pikachu who had psychic abilities and was just… really chill when surfing.
I think it actually has something to do with gluten affecting the brain. Causing headaches and eventually getting used to it because pancakes were probably fed to them as treats from people or just flat out stealing said pancakes. I remember watching a video about that, but I can't remember from who.

Fun fact: solgaleo does accurately represent the sun because for some reason, for the Hawaiian region they decided to go with GREEK MYTHOLOGY AND ALCHEMY, each of the starters have the symbols for earth, mercury and brimstone and they believe the sun was a ball of molten iron and the symbol for it was a lion holding the sun in its mouth...though with that logic it should have been fire steel but I guess that might have been too busted of a combo

Space and other dimensions is represented by the psychic type, cosmic power, and most Pokémon from space being psychic types, Beheeyem, Deoxys, and Starmie being prominent examples of that. So steel/psychic for an alchemical sun lion from another dimension, who can also open wormholes is perfect.
The sun can become iron eventually...

I bet that the person making fun of Solgaleo never learned its origins, nor what a star can be made of.
For those who still wouldn't know (not that I would blame you of course), a star, at some point during its life cycle, has a part made of metals, hence the Steel type. A second reason for the steel type is that Solgaleo doesn't represent the Sun itself directly but the lion that eats the Sun from alchemy, which represents (if I'm not mistaken) the purity of metals or something like that.
so basically they were both wrong but one of them was petty enough to murder over it and justify her crimes with the dispute being over a kid's game... which makes her reaction EVEN WORSE

When you put it like that, yeah you're right, she's wrong, because of the game not being a kids game, because of all the inspirations and origins of the mons and other things among other reasons making it also for adults.
Both are tied to eating the sun. When a star gets too much iron in its core it becomes unable to perform fusion, meaning it runs out of energy and dies off. Or collapses into a black hole.
Solgaleo is actually a skroll version of pokemon.
Still, shouldn't that make it the Sun Eater pokemon rather than the Sun pokemon?
Fun fact: Mudsdale is about the same size as a real world Clydesdale horse. So they just copy and pasted the real animal and didn’t realize how small they had made other pokemon comparatively to real animals. Another example a lion in the pokemon world, Pyroar, is 180 lbs while a real life African lion weighs well over 500lbs

Ok I actually have an idea as to why ghosts can be hit by Steel type attacks: according to some legends and culture, steel is often used to cast magic and some metals such as Mythril and Orichalcum are rumored to have magic properties. Silver is said to be a repellent for dark magic or kill momsters (like the Werewolf)

Rhyperior's case is because rhydon can learn surf, since he likes to ride on a surfboard, and since the preevo learns it, the evo does as well

I always thought it was a throwback to the psychic surfing Pikachu in the anime. There was a Pikachu that could psychically detect the next good wave, and with his Surfer trainer go surfing on it.
Solgaleo is based on the alchemy term for the sun that eats the sun, hence why it is more on the side of being Sun based design rather than typing and moves

The "Dragonite Attracted" comic was probably made before gen-6 since Marill's Fairy typing would've let it void Outrage in gens 6 and up.
