I'd like to think he does. He did love sailing and had built a lovely clinker dinghy Out of Red Cedar before I was born in 1943, but due to a few factors including the fact of having a new family to provide for (as most of us do at that stage of life), poor health, and probably lack of funds for quality finishes and a lack of a dry storage area, the dinghy simply rotted away. He always regretted that, and how I would have loved for him to teach me to sail in that georgous little boat when I was a kid------
Nice one. Great that you were able to have that quality time with your Dad. I still haven't taken anyone out on Joylian since the first outing when I capsized and tipped my son into the 'drink'. Interesting to see the jolting of the beachside line. I used my new anchor and anchor buddy for the first time today too. Out in the bay so only bow anchor. I could see the buddy stretching in the gusts.
Fabulous you got out! Still working out anchoring rope lengths but it was successful in being able to pull the boat to shore and releasing it out to deeper water. Hope you get a crew soon!
Another lovely video :) kingfisher is beautiful! She sure was bobbing around. Can you do a video showing your lazy jacks please? I need to install some on Courageous :) I will have to check out what an anchor buddy is!
I’ve just picked up a similar heron to try my hand at sailing here on Pitwater (once I understand how to rig it) curious to what hp outboard you are using?
Hi Alberto. That’s a 3.3hp. A 2hp is plenty. Btw join Raid Sydney on Facebook- its a dinghy cruising group, and we have several members with herons. Even if you are beginning, lots of advice on that group.
@@DinghyCruisingTrim thanks, I need to do a little tidy up on it first so hopefully in the water soon. Will check out raid, sure to have lots of questions.
Hi Dad ! Papa J up in Washington State waving 👋 at ya.
MY dad passed in 2000 and how I'd love to take him out for a sail these days. Cherish yours, he had that little smile of contentment.
Sorry to hear about your dad Peter. I am sure he sails with you every time you go out.

Many thanks Holly. I will try to get you that info one way or another.
