  • During a short trip to Breede River we met with some of the worst weather, with winds up to 30knts and heavy rains, but we found gaps in between to have some fun in the freezing conditions.
Targeting Spotted Grunter and enjoying all the species that the Breede has to offer. All of the fish caught were released.
Even the smallest fish provide some entertainment, but I was very fortunate to catch a monster Grunter. It's a new personal best that will be tough to beat.
    Massive Grunter time stamp: 04:35
    Tackle Used:
Land More Beasts: Orka 8'8ft Spinning rod
    Rod: Berkley Cherry wood 7tt
    Reel: Penn Spin Fisher 2500
    Line: 15lb braid
    Hooks: Gamakatsu size 4 circle
All tackle from Fising Republic in Strand: / fishingrepublicstore

😂😂 that grunter looks exactly the same as the one Zander "zoo life fishing" caught on the other side of the river with the nip on the tail. Keep releasing and maybe I will catch and release him soon

Nice fish, well done for releasing. I'd bet that you would have caught less fish if the weather was nice the whole trip...

Great catches and that grunter was a monster!! Curious to know what tackle setup and bait you were using on that light tackle? May try for some Gunters on light tackle too 🤣

That Grunter 33 secs into your video which I just computed is the same grunter 9 mins 11 secs at the end of your video ,
could easily be considered fake it is so large .
It is realistically the size of serious enough silver cob .
I saw a Grunter so large once that I myself still can't believe what I saw ,
And yours measures up to massive .
Are such Grunters common in your experience ?

Hey, yeah I think the Go-Pro definitely makes the size look massive. - It was an absolute monster Grunter, definitely not common to be that big and fat :)

I caught one in around 1992 that was very large and thick ,
One side of the fish was enough for six portions .
      Incredible .
Such a fish is as you rightly say ...
      A MASSIVE , MONSTER GRUNTER !
