Massive Grunter, Fishing Breede River, friends, fun and foul weather
During a short trip to Breede River we met with some of the worst weather, with winds up to 30knts and heavy rains, but we found gaps in between to have some fun in the freezing conditions.
Targeting Spotted Grunter and enjoying all the species that the Breede has to offer. All of the fish caught were released.
Even the smallest fish provide some entertainment, but I was very fortunate to catch a monster Grunter. It's a new personal best that will be tough to beat.

Rod: Berkley Cherry wood 7tt

Light tackle Scratching for edible fish, Winning a competition, fishing from the rocks

Being stuck indoors is a reminder that even catching the smallest fish can be enjoyable. This was filmed walking between Hartenbos and Klein Brak, fishing the holes in the reefs and catching loads of small fish. A few days before our National Lockdown, I entered an open area edibles competition. With the water being crystal clear and the conditions not favorable for fishing, I decided to do a l...

Fishing for BlackTail in Hartenbos, (light tackle fishing)

During our holiday in Hartenbos (MosselBay), with the ocean being flat and clean, we decided to take out the ultra light tackle and target some Black Tail. By drifting little chokka and sardine baits around the ledges, my father and I ended up catching - 20 fish in the space of an hour. Well the baitfish such as sardine, maasbanker, mackerel etc you find out in the open deeper water in big schools. Fish like mullet you get in the surf on banks as well as in the rocks. But the fish such as Blacktail etc are thick between the rocks

    That Grunter 33 secs into your video which I just computed is the same grunter 9 mins 11 secs at the end of your video , could easily be considered fake it is so large . It is realistically the size of serious enough silver cob . I saw a Grunter so large once that I myself still can't believe what I saw , And yours measures up to massive . Are such Grunters common in your experience ?

    • @michaelparris3585

      They have the ability to regurgitate what they have eaten. Shad often do it when hooked. Cob don't take small bites they swallow the bait.

    • @michaelparris3585
      @michaelparris3585 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, I love my Archipelago, caught a number of fish on it now and it really throws a mile. The setup is great but I find it a bit stiff for throwing lighter lures. Its great for heavy lures and long distance spinning but for smaller fish and smaller lures such as Bucktails I prefer a slightly smaller rod. The Archipelago is rated up to 4oz so really has proper backbone.
