My Westie is 16 1/2 years old. His name is Elmer and he is so playful and happy. He’s slowed down some, but still has lots of spunk. He is so loved in our home. ❤️
My wonderful Westie Kobi passed away two years ago at 17years old. He had all of the characteristics you described which made him so special. I miss him daily. He was my second west highland terrier!
You nailed what having a Westie is all about! Buster is 13, has slowed down some, but is still healthy, loves his walks, loves having his family close!
Truly sorry to hear that. I lost mine “number 1” 5 years ago and I still think about him daily and often dream about him. He only lived to 11. I had to let him go due to cancer. He was like a confident human in dog form. My best friend. It was an honor and privilege to share his little big life. I will love Wesley for ever. I understand the pain and loss. He left a huge void in my life. I love my current Westie, Chip, but Wesley will always be my number one.
This my 2nd 1 & they have the best personality of any dog I ever saw & mine are so good with small children & play with them but are gentle. They train you more than I train them. They are so smart & know how to work you. You never had a dog till you get a Westie they are so cute ,smart, good natured & lovable. I have to show mine videos of Westies every night on You Tube.
My Westie Wilson is 13. I adopted him after his first owner passed away. He is Westitude inside and out. I’m amazed at how smart he is and I swear he’s almost talking. Right now he’s annoyed because he wants to go to bed now and he won’t until I go with him. He had a tumor removed from under his tongue a few months ago. It was malignant. I’m giving him his best life for as long as I can.
I have 2 and I love them both ones always. In the kitchen, you can't open a cupboard without Him be in there he does not want to miss a crumb. My oldest one puts me to bed and lets me know if i fall asleep in my chair to get up and is real persistant I have a large fenced in yard and during the years th tjank yoy for sharingey have kept it clear of varmits.
We have an 8 year old Westie, Macintosh, or Mac for short. He is our second Westie. Our first Westie was a female, Molly MacGregor. She lived to be almost 14 and died of cancer. Both of our Westies shared the best traits of Westies and some of the worst, stubborness being at the top of that list. Mac is larger, more active and seriously a one person dog! He listens best to my husband but that is because that is who feeds and walks him most days. Mac is a Canine Good Citizen, passing that rigorous test at 1 year. Since then he has been certified as a therapy dog, visiting two different hospitals weekly and a service dog, certified to fly regularly with me. He is a sass talker and an avid TV watcher, though he barks at all animals on TV. He never barks at animals, even cats while on a walk. He is well-known in his neighborhood and loves to stop and greet his “friends”. He lives with two rescue pups who annoy him regularly. He will play with them to a point of annoyance and then let them know he is done by herding one of us to let him inside for a break. He is a picky eater who only eats if you stand over him. His warm and enthusiastic greeting when I have been away makes my day!
So wonderful to see this endearing video as I lost my darling Bertie in June this year ...he was a month off 17. I hope to find another Westie soon as I miss him so much. Your video reminds me why. 🙏🙏💕💕
My Westie, Katie is atkleast 17, I found her 17 years ago and she had another family before me. She is the best girl ever. She’s losing her hearing and vision, but still has spunk and personality. She is my family. I love her to pieces!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love that! ❤ May you two have many more wonderful moments together 🤗🐾 I can't imagine having your dog for 17 years! We've only had Sami for less than 4 years and it already feels like forever, I can barely remember how life felt without him 🥰
You described the Westie personality perfectly. I've had 3 Westies and their personalities touch me like no other breed. They are happy, friendly, nosy, extreme hunters and smart. They are a joy to watch every single day. I had to laugh when you said they let you know if they don't like what they were told. My Westie always talks back to me. She has learned so many tricks. She's a delight to train because she learns so fast. And yes, I also call her my nosy neighbor as well. They are the love of my life!! I really enjoyed your video! Thanks for sharing.
Our Kika lived 13 1/2 years, passed 7 months ago due to chronic kidney failure. She was always a happy dog, nosy, hungry, playful, and she was a true hunter. Everything you said in this video is true. Her personality was so strong, we even called her the princess of the house. We miss those stares and the way she communicated her needs. And as you said, she became vocal many times expressing discontent, especially once we left her at a pet hotel for couple days and when we picked her up she started making voices that sounded like a quarreling human asking “why have you left me?”! Westies are truly the best companions, and not a single hour passes with her being in the back of our minds! Thank you for the video ❤
Our Westie, Scotty, is 9 mos and we have a 6 year old Aussie who has helped us raise our Scotty. Our Westie before these two had been taught to stop barking when given the command to stop. She taught the Aussie this command and he has taught Scottie. Most of the time they listen. What the Aussie does Scotty does too, but other wise his Westietude is loud and clear.
I've had three westies in my life. The dog love of my life, Duke, will be 14 this year! No matter how old he gets, he will always be my baby boy. 🥰🥰🥰 I can't wait to be a crazy westie lady when I'm older 😆
Hi Miruna and Sami, You described everything about a Westie perfectly! We always have described Cricket as "A Nosey Neighbor!" She must tell us about every thing that goes on, inside and outside! She will sit at the Living room window and tell us about the birds she sees, the rain coming down and that the neighbor is mowing his lawn. She has 4 cat sisters and treats each one according to their personalty differences. She knows if they are interested in cuddling or not and she knows if they are getting into mischief and puts a stop to it! We bring the cats in at night for their safety and she has learned that right before dark, we open the door and tell her to "Bring them in!" She will sniff out each one and herd them into the open door. If one does not co-operate, she will literally push and drag the errant sister by their neck into the house. (it doesn't hurt the cat and they let her do it.) She won't stop until they are all inside. She will run into the house, count noses and if one is still missing, go back out to find it. It is so funny to watch. I have to mention that we live on 2 acres of land, so it is not like she is herding them out of a small yard! We also have two small brass bells at each end of the house for her to ring if she needs to go out. She also will ring it if a cat is at the door and wants to come inside. We can't see the cat, but SHE knows that it is there. She also taught all the cats to ring the bell as well if they want out!! There is nothing smarter, loving, playful or more stubborn than a Westie, and we would never want it any other way! Thanks for all you do! We love your videos of Sami, you do an absolutely great job! Jodie and Cricket
Hi Jodie! 😍 Cricket sounds like the absolute sidekick! 😂She is so smart and funny! I love how she helps you gather the cats. These doggies thrive when they have something to work on. I am glad that she is being productive and putting her mind to work 😅❤ Thank you so much for sharing that with us and for your kind words!
I have my second Westie, Lily. She is just 9 months old and has such a full personality. Our first Westie Duncan opened our eyes to the wonderful world of Westies. Lily keeps the house on schedule. She tells us when it is time for her walks, and she is true to time every day. Announces when it is time to go to bed and we will never forget meal times. She engages in conversation and LOVES TO MEET PEOPLE! She especially loves children, easier to kiss❤
I think my favorite thing about Westies is how smart and intuitive they are. My Bodhi looks at me and I just know he’s trying to communicate something with me. They are so stubborn which is usually funny. But they are also so very loving. I’ve been sick over a week and as I write this Bodhi is laying in between my legs keeping a close eye on me. Bodhi is my second Westie, he is 2, my first Westie, Mikey, lived to almost 15, and I still miss him everyday. These dogs have really saved my life, I love them so much! 🤍
Great video and you have done a superb job on your social media channels. My dog - Sky Leia Malaika is a beauty, so intelligent but very feisty and stubborn!! What a personality.
My Westie Charlie past away in September aged 17 and a half, he was my best mate, so full of fun up to the day he past away in his sleep, I miss him so much he was a great friend to everyone. I said never again, then but know the hole in my life needs to be filled,
I love how you can't tell how old they are because they never look old because of the white fur. My sweet Sparky, up until about 8 months ago, always acted like a puppy. Then he got very sick and things were a little bit different. I'm so glad you put out your content. Helps me a lot in managing his loss.
I have 2 Female westies. They are from the same litter. Maggie and Molly are going on 11 years old this April. They still rough house with each other, play race track, and are insanely jealous of each other. They do have big personalities, and stubborn to a fault, but... I love them so much. They have me and my husband wrapped around their little paws.
My Westie Murphy passed in October at nearly 13 yo. I miss him. Trying to decide on getting another one. They are full of personality. I enjoyed this video...nailed it.
I have a 9 year old westie and u nailed his personality in this video. He is so nosy and goes room to room with me. He is the sweetest boy with lots of energy. Right now I’m having to keep him on leash even in the fenced backyard because he runs the fence line barking at my neighbors 4 dogs until he strains his leg that requires a vet visit. But I love love love him.
You’ve said it all about this wonderful breed! I have my second westie who I adopted 6 years ago as a sickly 9 1/2 year old. She’s recovered nicely and is the epitome of westitude and westie love. I can hardly imagine a life without her. It’s hard to tell people how special westies are, but you have detailed everything I feel about them. Thanks!
Westies are by far the best dogs. My Patty was smart and adaptable . He learned how to ride on my motor scooter from a young pup. Everyone enjoyed seeing him and I cruise by in town.
Thanks for making this video about Westies - because they are so cute people think they’re lap dogs and we know that is not true. They can be quite fierce. Sammy is wonderful and a little stubborn just like my boy Mac- everything you said is correct - especially the big dog in the small body! I am on my third Westie- it’s like an addiction.❤
Hi Jennifer, thanks for your comment! Oh yes, very strong willed and independent! 😅💛 I think I will be just like you, haha! Westies are never boring and always compensate somehow to make us forget about their mischiefs 😂
Coca, my husband and I had a was the for 17 years and she finally pasted last fall , we miss her dearly. Your right they are the best little dogs ever. I still miss her .
I have a westipoo (Westie crossed with a toy poodle) but a lot of these traits are familiar! He is so friendly with everyone on walks and has such a silly personality. My parents joke that he’s my burglar alarm too 😂
Louie's favorite trait is the determination and the purposeful walk he has when we go out. My lease favorite trait is his stubbornness. It's his way or nothing!!! You hit the nail on the head.
I live in Arizona and he will chase rabbits in our back yard which is fenced. My westie clicks his teeth at me to get my attention. His favorite thing is chasing a ball and bring it back to me
You are spot on about the Westie!!! They are precious and yours is no exception!!! We had one for 16 years!! Toots Tia Maria!! She was a real character and a joy!!!! Very devoted little doggie!!! Never off the leash! Extremely smart!! And quick!
we lost our Snowy two years ago aged ten due to cancer but I agree with all of these points! He was a very good Westie boy and is probably barking at something or the other up in doggy heaven :)
Thank you for your videos. Our Westie was 17 1/2 years old when she passed this past Nov. 2022. It really is very comforting to see videos, thank you ! Westies are the best !!
My daughter has had 3 Westies. Two passed away and the third is 12 now. They are the best dogs ever. We loved all of them and spent time with them whenever we could. They are just awesome and beautiful dogs.
I love all the westie traits. Mine is also very intelligent and I have found out that you should never underestimate them. They are best dogs in the world. I meet a lady who has a westie and she told me that the dog trainer at the doggy classes threw her and her westie out as she could not get her dog to do anything she asked, not one thing……..apparently just ran around the room doing what he wanted…………….we just both burst into laughter. 😃.
I had pedigree westies. My last was put down in 2012 for a brain tumor. Broke my heart. My current is half Westie half Chihuahua born at the local Westie Rescue. My Lucy is 11 and is about 99.9% Westie except for her size and color. She's cream on top and her underside is snow white. She's beautiful! She has the Westie face and body, bullet body and prick ears. She definitely has Westie-tude and... that .01% that isn't Westie is the Chihuahua dominance/bossiness that goes hand in hard with her stubbornness. But I ❤ her.
We lost our westie Robbie Last year he was 12yrs old. We were devastated but we New he had a happy fulfilled Life He was a real character. 7 months later we got a New westie puppy Murphy He is coming up to a year Next month he is beautiful Just like Sami also very Clever and funny l like when Yo said stubborn that's a Westie !!! Love your videos Best wishes from SCOTLAND.xx from John Ann & Murphy.x
I am so sorry for your loss. I know no one will ever replace him but I am glad you got another puppy ❤ I love the name Murphy! Happy 1st birthday next month! Thanks so much for your comment guys 🥰
I’m so very sorry you lost your baby. We just had to put down our Sophie, who was also 12. She was fine, then she wasn’t. It was cancer. Losing your treasured family member is heartwrenching. I’m so happy you’re finding love again.
Congratulations on getting Murphy. I am so glad you got another Westie. I get my baby girl on Saturday the 24 Sept. I have never had a puppy before, always over 1 aged dogs. So it will be quite a experience for me. How did you do the first year with Murphy? What did you do when you brought him home and where was he living in the beginning? I am planning to use our twin grandson's double playpen for her during the day and at night her crate in our bedroom near our bed so she doesn't get scared. You are suppose to feed them every 4 hours as a puppy right? When did you start in the morning feeding your puppy? I have to learn all of this now. I am going to the opposite spectrum now. I went from a Senior dog now to a Puppy.
Winston Bentley McNab, will be 14 on December 4,2022. He has had diabetes for 5 year’s but my wife takes great care of him. I don’t know what I will do when that day comes! He loves being on our boat at Bear Lake and everyone in the Marina loves him. JohnBoyUtah, Sammie is adorable! I just love these dogs🇺🇸🚤😎⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️🚤🚤🚤🚤
Love this! All of it is true. Sugar played like a puppy until she was about 13 1/2, passed at14 1/2. My girl loved big dogs also. It was so cute to see. The independence was cute. Ahh the snuggles 😊again thanks for the videos. Yes, Westies are THE BEST 🐾❤️
Aww, so good to hear! 😍 They love big dogs, right? Sami always picks the big dogs to play with, it's so funny how in his mind he is big also. Thank you! 💛
A big dog in a little body is my westie Izzy! We were walking the other day and this huge dog came galloping along and Izzy went off! She was ready to attack. Me on the other hand scooped her up into my arms terrified the dog would attack her! Luckily the owners came by and said their big dog was just playful. I love your channel. It is good to know that other westies are the same as Izzy. I love that westies are people dogs. I take mine shopping and she loves meeting people. I've even had a mother and little daughter follow me and Izzy up the street just so the little girl could meet Izzy. That is the one thing that I adore about westies! Thank you for your videos!
Everything you said has been spot-on with my experience as a westie owner :] Kody just turned 16 and he's still a sweet, tenacious little fella who likes to chase his cat and dog sisters around the house. He's also always been stubborn and loves playing with big dogs. And he always wants to be with us (just at a distance) Thank you for this video, Sammy is sucha cutie
My little westie, tuffy brooks passed on just 2 months ago and I am heart broken he was 15 and a half. He had pancreatitus. I was wondering , if I got another westie , would I be able to shake this feeling that I am betrayal of my tuffy. Is there anyone else out there feeling like this ?
YESSS!! I'm biased towards Terriers (my Pikín was a different breed of Terrier), and all of these traits are absolutely true! My love goes to all dogs, but my heart will always be with these tough, playful and smart little guys ❤
I lost baby boy (Mojo, Yorkie) to cancer on November 14, 2022. I was devastated along with my other dog (German Spitz) Daphne. Daphne and Mojo were inseparable. Daphne is down in dumps since we lost Mojo. Yorkies originated in Scotland which leads me to a Westie. I am hoping for a Yorkie or a Westie. Your video helped. Thank you greatly
I am so sorry for your loss. And I'm sorry for Daphne's loss too. I hope a new puppy will lift her spirits up ❤️ I never met a Yorkie but I heard they are funny and smart. Westies are absolute characters. Whichever dog you will get, I'm sure they will be perfect!
Oh my it’s so true about being stubborn and curious! Taz is never left off the leash unless we are going for a ride and he is so excited about going that nothing would distract him to run after it. I know so many neighbors because he thinks if someone is outside and we are walking by we have to stop for him to say hello! Westies are the best. All of your 10 points are spot on!❤❤
How does he go for a ride? Running after the bike? Oh, Sami is the same with neighbors too! 🤦🏻♀ Everywhere we go he needs to stop to greet people, lol. He is so outgoing 😅 Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it 🧡
@@WestieVibesTaz hates bikes he would rather chase them so I have to be careful around someone riding by. He loves riding in the car! Before my husband passed away he took Taz for rides in his truck regularly so now I have to take him in my car! He will pester me, staring at me till I pay attention to him and he runs to his leash, like “lets go!”😍
I was laughing at everything thing you said and nodding my head! my folks westie was that and more! He made it to 15, he got cataracts and hard of hearing and VERY demanding in his last few years. They lived in the country and the squirrels would tease him to no end. They knew exactly how long his rope and leash were when he came out to go potty and lay on the steps. They would stand just out of his reach and drive him crazy! I have a ton of stories about him. but he's been gone since 1994. He was my "Brother" and I cried harder over him than some of my relatives when we had to put him down with cancer.
Hi everybody! My name is Amy, I'm almost 16 and I live in Trieste, Italy. I became deaf one year ago, but I still see well and I like to play with four-legs of every size and genre! ♥
We rescued our Westie, Salt. He was bonded with a brindle Chihuahua. They are both 2 years old. Right now, Salt is sleeping soundly between my legs. The two of them as so much fun and give tons of love. Although they are no longer hunting dogs, that trait remains in them. I was on our patio and found a mouse that apparently, my Salt took out. Good boy!
I think nosiness is their cutest trait. Nothing happens in our house without Max the Westie investigating! If I go shopping and put the bag on the floor, he will have his head inside the bag immediately to see what I have 'hunted'! Westies are definitely the besties! 🤍🤍
Ziggy my westie is, a bit over brave, but so far has not created a problem, when I got him at eight weeks, I has a Kuvazs at the time 140 lb. His name was Azamat, and little Ziggy ran right up to him wanting to play, as soon as he seen him. Ziggy was quite the pest, Azamat would put up with him for a hour or so then just put his paw on Ziggy holding him still, then they would nap together. Azamat has passed on, but did get a Australian shepherd and they played together all the time but, Jamal ( the Australian ) would out last Ziggy. Now Jamal is 60 lb. but Ziggy is still the boss. Now comes Penelope a Australian, Lab, German shepherd mix. So now Ziggy can get a break, but he is still the boss. I have a dog run 96' x 72' with lots of shad trees. There is also a raven that will come and play with them, it flies from one tree to the other back and forth, some time up to an hour, giving all three dogs a good work out. Such I joy having three dogs and two cats, ( Peter and Pan.) They love to tees Ziggy and the other two. Will get Ziggy to chase them then get up high and when Ziggy walks away they jump down and run over top of him and the chase in on. All five will take turns mostly two or three at a time, sleep together on the day bed, leaving no space for me. So many stories about my dogs, over the years, I am 75 now and do not think I could be with my dogs. Thanks for the video, like to watch videos while I eat, or when to tired to do much more and have to wait for the dogs to come in. They are all lovers of the night, if I bring them in at 10pm they will be up and wanting out again at 1 or 2 am for another hour or two, or when ever a fox or coyote or other animal comes around. I do have a 6' fence around the run with large stones and logs around the bottom to keep Ziggy from getting out and going after them. But what is ever out there takes off pretty soon after the three dogs are out barking, Glad I do not have any close neighbors.
Zoey will be 15 in May. Oldest dog in the neighborhood. She oves kids, she loves most other dogs (she has her few chosen favorites, including boyfriend Tucker and partner in crime Hewey). She sleeps a lot now in her old age and has developed cataracts, but is still super energetic. She still barges in on us in the bathroom (you can not ever go to the toilet in peace) and is just as stubborn as ever. She still fights us to get a bath, she still hates car rides outside the neighborhood, she still gets extremely jealous when some other dog is getting attention from her favorite humans.
I have a 10 year old Westie named Skipper. He is a rescue. 6 yrs ago his owner died inside the home with Skipper and his brother Angus in the home with him. It was a week before this was found out. I don’t know anymore details. We tried to get Angus too but someone had already claimed him. He is rather skittish. He doesn’t like quick movements or loud sounds. He also doesn’t like to be picked up and is very particular about when and where you can pet him. He didn’t bark or make a single sound for the first 4 months that we had him. We took him to the vet who said give him time, due to his history he was most likely traumatized. When he did become vocal he made sure everyone heard him! Our problem is that we can not completely house break him. He uses the doggy door but also urinates in the house. Not just marking but big puddles in different areas. He does have favorite spots like the end of the couch or on the legs of the furniture, but he has urinated in the middle of the floor too. We would appreciate any suggestions from people who may have experienced this problem. He’s a very good little dog, and on the rare occasions that he gets caught hiking his leg in the house we clap our hands and tell him no! He stops but his expression shows him being very bewildered, as if he doesn’t know he’s done anything wrong! Please help!!!
Hi Deborah, when we adopted our Westie at 6 yrs old, her family said she was crate trained and potty trained. I found out she was neither. It was due to her being mentally and verbally abused. Get into your kennel ! I found out that when we said the word kennel, it hurt her and she would tuck her head down and scamper off some where else. So no more Kennel for her, I even started to groom her myself because of the Kennel problem. I had to find her safe place in my house. I also found out that she had separation anxiety very bad. This was what was causing her to pee and poop every where in the house. So I started to notice that she loved being with me in my bed and so I decided that would be her safe place in my bedroom on my bed, with her blankie and a Dreambone to munch on, with soft music playing and the light on and door shut. It was like Night and Day when I did this for her. She was less stressed out, no more accidents in the house. I don't work, so the time that I went out would be 3 hrs the most usually. She was a different doggie. You might want to try this instead of letting them have the run of the whole house. They are like children, they are sweet and get scared when you leave and miss you. See if this works and let me know how he is doing. God Bless!
@@elainehoffman7709 we have had our Sam for seven years since a puppy! He settled in straight away, and didn't take long to house train him! I worked for a couple of days a week and would leave him! And he was fine! But after a couple of years we noticed on my first day back at work, we would come home and he had pooped everywhere! Eventually we contacted the vet and she explained he was suffering separation anxiety! It broke my heart to think we had caused this, never having had a pet before we were ignorant to the fact our little westie just like other animals have personalities and feelings just like us! We invested in a lovely doggy day care for when we weren't there, an he loved it, and he seemed to love us more for understanding his issue! Now we never leave him more than a couple of hours ,and only for Dr or hospital appointments he is our best friend! The one thing he is absolutely petrified of loud bangs and fireworks, his safe place is the middle of the stairs or on the settee with his blankie and I kneel down and talk to him, we have learnt so much from him, we give him the best life possible and he gives us so much love back! Westies are the best 👌
@@suegroizard415 Most dogs you will find hate the loud noises and fireworks. My dog Lilly use to shake and not eat or sleep or go to the bathroom outside when fireworks were around. I got her the Thundershirt and it helped a little bit. It is suppose to mimmick a hug from us to your dog.
My Westie piper, without a doubt, is the pack leader when we meet up with her friends even though she’s the smallest. Everyone knows piper but don’t know me. She know what and who she likes but don’t dare get on her bad side, then that Westie fighting spirit shows in full force. Saying that she does love puppies and has loads of patience with them but let’s them know when it’s time to behave. She’s the best wee dog on the planet, no question
My Buddy is the stubborn trait. Take him out for a walk and he has almost pulled my arm out of socket when he has found something HE wants to investigate. He will not move he stays put. Buddy is 12 years old and acts the same way as the day he came 11 years ago. But he loves his nap times which is more often now.
Haha, sounds like a true spunky, driven Westie! 😂 I am glad to hear he is active and motivated 😍😅 Sami also loves naps, he could sleep all day if he could and probably is active only about 5 hours/day. He always loved naps!
My Westie died in 1971. She was 11. She loved to play and bark at the mailman. Bonnie liked to go for walks but once she got tired she sat down and wanted to be carried the rest of the way. Back in the day there were cowl windows on cars where she liked to stick her nose to get all the smells.
This is the most accurate westie description I've ever seen!! The wee white ones are very NOSY, STUBBORN and vey SMUG! But they have so many good traits too, and very cute. I just started taking my westie off the leash and she's 3 1/2 now. If she sees a critter there's NOTHING I can say or do to stop her!!
Thanks!! 🥰 Haha, true, they are smug!! Yeah, I noticed with Sami that even when his recall is good, it's never 100%. He ran away from me twice on walks in the forest, because he saw a rabbit or squirrel, and I was out of breath trying to catch up with him. After that I got him a 10m leash and I don't let him run free. Except on smaller beaches, or fenced areas 😄
@@WestieVibes yeah the only reason I let daisy off leash is because we have fenced property... speaking of running off, I have to go get her because she JUST TOOK OFF after my neighbors cat! She's such a little monster!!!
My wife and I got her mom's 1/2 Westie Carin. Sadly Mollie has moved on but now we have Maddie. 100 percent Carin. But all you described is so true. Too smart, too stubborn and way too willful. And your right I learned quickly to make sure I have the leash with me. If she sees one of her friends you cannot stop her. I would love to have both.

I am so happy to hear that!! 😍 May Elmer live many more happy times with you! ❤
Elmer is an absolutely perfect name for a Westie :)
Are they going to let you sleep in especially on the weekend? 🤔😅😅
He really is funny 😂😂
My wonderful Westie Kobi passed away two years ago at 17years old. He had all of the characteristics you described which made him so special. I miss him daily. He was my second west highland terrier!
We had three at one time. Best dogs ever had. Sad all three has passed but thinking of getting another
You nailed what having a Westie is all about! Buster is 13, has slowed down some, but is still healthy, loves his walks, loves having his family close!
He is a lucky little guy and I'm glad that he has such a great life! ❤I hope Sami will be the same.
I had a Westie, Little Dog, who passed away a couple of months ago. He was almost 14. I miss him every single day. Thank you for your video.
I'm so sorry for your loss 💔 Thank you!
I adore my Westie Bobby :)
Used to have a westie. I totally agree they love to argue with you.
Thank you for all your videos I too have a Westie. Best dogs ever!!
Poppy says hello from the UK. 🇬🇧
Missing my Westies Gem & Meg & Skye. They are all the sames traits that you point out!
My westie was 18yrs miss alot waiting for anorher
My Westie Wilson is 13. I adopted him after his first owner passed away. He is Westitude inside and out. I’m amazed at how smart he is and I swear he’s almost talking. Right now he’s annoyed because he wants to go to bed now and he won’t until I go with him. He had a tumor removed from under his tongue a few months ago. It was malignant. I’m giving him his best life for as long as I can.
Sami you are the best❤❤❤🐾🐾🐾
Aww, thank youuu 🤗
I have 2 and I love them both ones always. In the kitchen, you can't open a cupboard without Him be in there he does not want to miss a crumb. My oldest one puts me to bed and lets me know if i fall asleep in my chair to get up and is real persistant
I have a large fenced in yard and during the years th tjank yoy for sharingey have kept it clear of varmits.
So wonderful to see this endearing video as I lost my darling Bertie in June this year
...he was a month off 17. I hope to find another Westie soon as I miss him so much. Your video reminds me why. 🙏🙏💕💕
I am so sorry for your loss 💔 Thanks so much for your kind comment! I hope you do get another Westie soon!
What did you feed him? That's an amazing age!
@@ilovedogs938 I kept him off all cereals and gluten and red meat. He loved Skippers fish kibbles. 👍👍
What a cute pup. I have had MANY dogs in my life, mixed breeds and purebreds. They were ALL wonderful!
My Westie called Duke is amazing. He watches Tv and enjoys playing and going to walk. He is the king at home!
I like how you remove his collar at home. It keeps him more comfortable! Thank you.
You nailed it 😂 As you describe exactly my Casper❤
Adorable 100℅!!! 💖💖💖
I have two Westie, all I can say is it was worth waiting 30 years for. Love love love them. Xx
Definitely! Enjoy your pups!
She sounds like a real character. I like that she gets on so well with your cats I wish my two westiepoo's were so good with my one cat .
It's true, they are very intuitive. Loyal and they care, despite them claiming their independence 😅 I hope you are feeling better!
we are on our 4 th westie and you tell it exactly how they are...
This video basically described my boy Chip. He is a Cairn Terrier....cousin to the Westie....just as stubborn but just as fun.
We have had 3 Westies and this is RIGHT ON !!!! We have boy twins and they are fabulous. I have loved all my boys, Huck, Gus and Ollie.
I said never again, then but know the hole in my life needs to be filled,
100% true...my westie ,Pooky, is a people dog and he LOVES to talk and tell me all about myself!
I love how you can't tell how old they are because they never look old because of the white fur. My sweet Sparky, up until about 8 months ago, always acted like a puppy. Then he got very sick and things were a little bit different. I'm so glad you put out your content. Helps me a lot in managing his loss.
I am so sorry for your loss! I am sending you a big hug.
Thank you for your comment, it means a lot to me to know that my videos help ❤
I did have a westie mine died a month ago I miss him dearly still heartbroken to this day 😢
Oh how I miss my westie we had snowy for 18 wonderful years!
I'm 78 and bought my last Westie in January, she is my sixth Westie since 1980. Clearly I love the breed.
You are a true Westie lover!! 🧡 I love that!
I have a Westie her name is Bella and is now 7 yrs old very active and friendly gets along well with my Siamese kitten his name is Fergus age 6 months
My westie Andre was 18 when he past. Best dog I ever had. He stayed active up to the end.
Sounds like he had a long, happy life! 🥰
Thanks!
I love your videos! I have a 3 year old Maltipoo or Westiepoo. I adopted him without really knowing but mine sounds just like yours.
I am so sorry for your loss 💔 She lived a long, loving life, which is great to hear 🥰
I have a westipoo (Westie crossed with a toy poodle) but a lot of these traits are familiar! He is so friendly with everyone on walks and has such a silly personality. My parents joke that he’s my burglar alarm too 😂
All true!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 my Westie’s exactly like this!
I have 5 westies . My oldest(15) is an agility grand champion . My wife trains them.
The BEST dog breed! 🫶🫶
Louie's favorite trait is the determination and the purposeful walk he has when we go out. My lease favorite trait is his stubbornness. It's his way or nothing!!! You hit the nail on the head.
Our Rocky is 100% the same, exactly same traits as yours. Especially being curious, wanting to know everything and taking on dogs 10x his size. 😂
Westies are my favourites dog
The one comment you overlooked is, “A Westie will NOT be ignored” - quote from a dog show. Truth.
I am so sorry for your loss ❤ I am sure he is having the best time up there!
My almost 16 year old westie has every single westie trait you mention…and I love it!! She’s the second westie I’ve had and the joy of my life.
Just got my 3rd Westie... I guess u can tell how much my family and I love this breed.
I am so happy for you! I will be the same! 😅🥰
I have my 1st one. Got him about 4 months ago age 5 1/2 yrs old. I have noticed all these behaviors in him already. Love him to pieces ❤
We just adopted a Westie, everything you say is the absolute truth!.
I'm so happy for you! 🥰 Boy or girl?
I had pedigree westies. My last was put down in 2012 for a brain tumor. Broke my heart. My current is half Westie half Chihuahua born at the local Westie Rescue. My Lucy is 11 and is about 99.9% Westie except for her size and color. She's cream on top and her underside is snow white. She's beautiful! She has the Westie face and body, bullet body and prick ears. She definitely has Westie-tude and... that .01% that isn't Westie is the Chihuahua dominance/bossiness that goes hand in hard with her stubbornness. But I ❤ her.
My westie made it 18 yrs best dog ever ❤and you nailed all ten 😂
We lost our westie Robbie
Last year he was 12yrs old.
We were devastated but we
New he had a happy fulfilled
Life He was a real character.
7 months later we got a
New westie puppy Murphy
He is coming up to a year
Next month he is beautiful
Just like Sami also very
Clever and funny l like when
Yo said stubborn that's a
Westie !!! Love your videos
Best wishes from SCOTLAND.xx from John Ann & Murphy.x
We have all the bandannas!
And he always wants to be with us (just at a distance)
Thank you for this video, Sammy is sucha cutie
My little westie, tuffy brooks passed on just 2 months ago and I am heart broken he was 15 and a half. He had pancreatitus. I was wondering , if I got another westie , would I be able to shake this feeling that I am betrayal of my tuffy. Is there anyone else out there feeling like this ?
6:20
Have four!
You described our Louie perfectly. Best dogs ever!
We have raised 5 Westies. Everything Miruna says about Westies is 100% true.
He is so outgoing 😅
Thank you!
Good boy!
We have had 4 westies, and you have absolutely nailed it.
4, so lucky! 😍 Thanks so much, I'm happy to hear that!
I’m a Westie!
All of this is true. We have our second Westie. Once a westie, always a westie.
We will be the same! Not planning on a puppy anytime soon, but the next one will without a doubt be a Westie girl 😍
your dog is SO CUTE
😂 I am glad to hear he is active and motivated 😍😅
Sami also loves naps, he could sleep all day if he could and probably is active only about 5 hours/day. He always loved naps!
Hi Miruna and sweetest Sami🐾😍love to see U 2 here on TH-cam💖 have a nice Thursday.😍🐾👋😚
Hey Astrid! 👋Good to see you here too!❤ Sami sends kisses!
@@mitchgillilan Oh nooo, cats always make Westies do crazy things 😂😂 Go get your girl back ❤
Hi from all you from Mexico
Westie it's amazing and so cute
My wife and I got her mom's 1/2 Westie Carin. Sadly Mollie has moved on but now we have Maddie. 100 percent Carin. But all you described is so true. Too smart, too stubborn and way too willful. And your right I learned quickly to make sure I have the leash with me. If she sees one of her friends you cannot stop her. I would love to have both.
