    You are my hero! I was beyond nervous about backing up the Aliner, because previous experience with a smaller teardrop was always impossible. With your help, and the mirror trick, was able to back it up with fairly good precision the first time I tried it. Thank you!!!

      Wow! That’s amazing!!! Good job! It’s not easy but if you stick with it you’ll get better at it too! So exciting 😊 Thanks for watching, I’m glad you found it helpful 🙏🏻

    I’m an old man and find your videos very helpful. In my younger days, I backed my boat in some tight places. I’ve found that this skill fades over time and takes practice. I wish I had your patience and lack of frustration. Keep the videos coming.

      Oh my, it didn’t come easy or quickly and I didn’t have patience in the first few days hahaha! As you know, it takes practice on both accounts. Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I’m sure it’s like riding a bike, no, scratch that, I wouldn’t want to get hurt trying to ride, but I’m sure YOU could still back it in with a little refresher!

    Another way of explaining it that I was told was to put my hand on the bottom of the wheel and turn it in which ever direction I want the trailer to go. Just another way of doing it ❤

      Thank you. It’s funny but in my head I can never make that work! I tried!!! Maybe because I’m left handed? Born breach? Lol, it just doesn’t set right for me but the mirror trick does.. go figure?!!!

    I just had to come on here to tell you THANK YOU!!! This video was in my head when I backed up my Aliner for the first time. I did GET OUT AND LOOK like 20 times but was constantly and consistently on the right track the whole time. I inched and inched and backed in. I was so proud! Thank you for your tips. We need MORE videos!!!

    My husband and I have motor homed for years from class a's to bumper Is pulls. He passed away last June. I am just sitting in my house, the kids are doing their things I hardly ever see them. And I wanted to go out camping again. So I found this A Liner an I am going to go pick it up in a few weeks , driving from Utah to Mesa Arizona. I'm not good at backing up, My husband always told me to put my hand at the bottom of the steering wheel and turn it the way I wanted the back to go or like you do put it on the top and turn it the opposite way. I am a little nervous about going by myself, but I'm sure after the 1st or 2nd time, I will be fine. I have subscribed to your TH-cam videos, so if I have any questions, I will try and find one with the answer to my question.
    I do need to find a video on watching a girl put it up & down, because I went out to our locall RV dealer and tried to put up one of theirs up and I couldn't lift it all the way up he did tell me mine would be smaller because his was the larger A liner. I did see a video and lost it somewhere on my phone where they had struts that helped the bottom top go up, so I am going to look into that. Also, find the best port a potty to go inside of it in case I'm not by facilities or it's the middle of the night.
    Thank you for doing your videos,
    Sheila

      I hope you made it Sheila!!!
      I’m sorry for your loss…
      Keep practicing and it gets a lot easier.
      The size of your Aliner makes a huge difference on the ease of setup. Mine is small and easy to set up for me. I’m 5’5””.

    Thank you for this. I just got an A Liner and just backing it into my driveway was hard. I eventually will store it in the garage, I need a lot of practice. Think I'll take some cones for markers and practice in an entry parking lot.

    • @ruthtrips7391

      Angela it was hard for me too. So frustrating until one day it just got easier 😊 Keep doing it, it gets easier I promise!

    I hold the steering wheel at the bottom. If I want the trailer to go left, I pull the bottom of the wheel left. If I want it to go right, I pull the wheel right. Easy pesy

    I go alone with my A frame too. I practiced once in a big parking lot but ended up jack-knifing it. It freaked me out. I sweat like a......whatever sweats.....when I try to back up. I've done it more successfully at the campground a couple of times. I'll keep on trying! Thanks for the video!!!

    • @ruthtrips7391
      @ruthtrips7391  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Donna it’s pretty difficult and lots of people won’t even try. Good for YOU! It takes a lot of courage and determination to do something that makes you sweat like a… sweat hog? Hahaha? I am finally able to back up without be afraid but I still sweat it because it’s always frustrating 😊 Happy camping!

    Oh boy, I live on a busy road with traffic going 55 mph . I’ll need a flag man to reroute traffic for a half hour. Lol Thanks for the helpful video

      Loretta, I also drove down to city hall on a Sunday and practiced in the empty parking lot lol. People drove by and gawked but I didn’t care. I kept on practicing! Go for it!

    Practice backing every chance you get! LOL I make a practice when pulling out of a site to back up so I can look over the site to see if I left anything behind. Checking the site and practice backing up at the same time. 😊

    Oh.. a tip I watched. Instead of turning towards the mirror you want it to disappear from. Instead.. grip the wheel at the bottom.. and steer towards the mirror you want it to show up in or the side you want the trailer to move towards. Maybe a little more natural?

    • @ruthtrips7391
      @ruthtrips7391  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Darrell, I’ve tried all the tips, you must use the one that fits YOU. Maybe because I’m left handed, or maybe because my steering wheel doesn’t have a space large enough for my hand to fit into and grasp comfortably at the bottom, but the mirror tip was the only tip that I could use easily 🤷‍♀️ Thanks for the feedback Darrell! Best of luck to you and your wife. If you get one, just keep practicing, it really helps 🙏🏻

    I was so anxious watching this.. Argh.. I'm naturally anxious and have little patience and can't drive worth a crap. God help me when I get my aliner. Maybe my wife can back it up !!

    I could not figure how to Not jackknife it. No matter what I did it just kept jackknifing it. Ugh.

      I did the same thing, it was hard but I kept trying. I pull forward and back over and over until I found the spot where she wouldn’t turn in!
      Don’t give up 😊

    Would a sway bar back it easier?

    • @ruthtrips7391
      @ruthtrips7391  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t know, I don’t think so. These trailers are so light we don’t need sway bars. If they did make backing up easier someone would have told us lo!
