In this regard I think Lebo chocked her by claiming to know other Afrikaaners who are open minded. No matter how Lebo can interact with whites, she can't match her. There's always something Lebo won't get from these people because of her being a public figure. On the other hand, Kasi is one of them and has experience of what she be saying. This woman speaks so boldly about being the space to be herself ( whatever that means) ...BLACK people afforded her that. lets remember that. Also the space to be herself ...its such a confusing statement...you can not be a part of a culture and not understand the experience of that culture. I dont fall for these weak narratives.

Bathong, I'll never see KFC the same again 🤣💀☠️ The peace of knowing your identity and what you identify with, without feeling bad or ashamed about it is hella important. I wish as country we could accept this of each other. That will be the beginning of healing as a country and we'll learn things from each other openly as different races.
This was a great interview and discussion between two intelligent women, both the interviewee and the interviewer. I wish both of them well, and their positive mindsets are dearly needed in the still problematic and racially divided post-Apartheid society of South Africa.
The fact that this is a 'thing'. That there's an interview like this in *South Africa* just baffles me completely. Relebogile, your interviewing skills though🔥🔥🔥
What I've picked up from this conversation is that dating outside one's race is deemed as either an "upgrade" or a "downgrade" in terms of social class, and/or creed. Separation from family, based on the ethnicity of one's romantic partner suggests that racism is so deeply entrenched in certain families that it is actually part of their culture. Once something becomes part of one's culture, it is almost impossible to dismantle or remove. I don't think racism will ever end, so long as those that benefit from it, economically and otherwise, fail to remove it from their belief system altogether.
Its just basic human psychology. In order to survive in ancient times, people needed to stick very tightly together with their group to survive. To know who is your group means to know who is NOT your group; and this is an aspect of human psychology that will never change, just like our need to gossip, socialize, compete, or have sex. Its instinct to separate yourself and ur family from the others; wether its based on race, tribe, class, whatever, people will always find a way to group themselves together and others apart. U cant have the good of humanity without the ugly, because its only in contrast to the ugly that we know what beauty is.
Wuuuuu this channel is fantastic. Love your interviewing skill. You listen and give time to your interviewee to speak. You ask leading questions that then make it easier for people phrase their answers. How did youtube hide this gem from me?? Thank goodness a video was recommended today and i guess i'm binge watching.
She's dated a black guy but has never experienced white privilege. My hubby who is white is greeted by Sir at the checkout. They just say: Plastic to me. He calls them out all the time. If you don't educate yourself, speak the language then it's cultural expropriation. Go deep or don't at all
So true. I became very conscious of White privilege when I dated a white man, it is unsettling that she is not aware of it. With her words she explained that according to society dating black is downgrading and dating white is upgrading and yet she hasnt connected the dots. She still needs to do a lot of Reflection.
When it comes to race, the world is a sad place. God created all men equal yet some groups think they are better, how very empty and sad. It's melanin or the lack thereof that has become such a devastating deal. I love the fact that I have alot of melanin as part of the human race
Loved the interview. Thank you. Very important topic. Something I've experienced myself and still very much struggling with (esp finding the balance between lovingly trying to educate people/ keeping my own peace). Relebogile, I admire your insane interview skills. Sharp questions, even helping your guest to bring out her view, but always leaving her feeling respected and heard. Respect sis! DJ Kasi, I admire your strength and power to fight for what you believe in. And by doing so, creating a hopefully more tolerant society for your daughter to live in. Keep that open mind, learn more about privileges but above all, thank you for showing everyone how to live with an open heart. Much love to you, your husband and gorgeous girl.
I think she is the ambassador of transformation. She has been annointed to bring different races and cultures together. God bless her, protect her and continue giving her peace.
I feel like this one is different from Marie.. This one as much as she identifies as black and is fully vested in the "kasi culture", she still acknowledges her white upbringing and still associates with parts of that culture. Marie does not want anything to do with blackness and there is so much self hate from her.

My husband lost ALL of his friends when he started dating me and my friends were admiring me for dating him. I really hated this backward slave thinking! What a tremendously courageous woman, like the Zulu warriors of old at the battle of Isandlwana who courageously stood their ground against the British rifles and the cannons, she stood her ground against the rifles of racism and the cannons of prejudice. She endured abuse at the hands of those who loved her conditionally, yet Inspite of the treacherous conditions she was subjected to.. she endured and prevailed in her persuit for justice and inner peace. I think being yourself is always gonna be difficult as the society will expect some explanation of why you do things a certain way, but sometimes you need not go to deep in explanation but say "I am being myself". Some of the questions she was asked are hard, you have to admit, but most deserve the same answer of "I am being myself"
Well, unfortunately, she is totally unaware of how some Black women see themselves. Their idea of beauty is influenced by white concepts of beauty? ( a lot). Skin bleaching, straightening hair with chemicals and / or wearing straight weaves and wigs. ( even some surgically alter their bodies too). Everyone wants to look like the fashion model.
I'm really glad I came across this channel. Maybe a future topic would be how to race mixed race kids... something in those lines. I'm african, married to a European and I have mixed race children. It wasn't a big deal for me when we lived in Africa. I somehow thought I could just bring them up. We moved to Europe, and I realised there's certain conversations we need to have with our children. I'm not sure how to navigate this topic with my husband as well, who does not even need to think about this, not realising, we are, will be, treated different from him. How do we give our kids the tools to navigate this life and bring them up confident and comfortable in their skin.. its frustrating

@@amandamakhoba1314 there is nothing wrong with that i have worked in all white towns with no issues but so elated if i saw a black man or person got pretty happy with the usual nods of heads for approval you do not even have to talk, there is nothing wrong i believe in feeling your crowd or herd but everything wrong by being labelled racist just because you identify with your race despite you how you choose to interact, She is confident in her position and there is no need to push to have a strong position, I clearly get what she means when she says in not a thing... its a loaded statement to anyone with a keen ear, and we cant deny what her experience is and how she sees her world what she chooses to say or not say, she has also pointed its an issue she has never discussed with family.... probably sometimes some things are better left alone if no one has confronted you or left you alone as long as you are happy to live your life. i wish her the best too its never going to be easy taking flake from both sides
Lebo has to broaden her horizons too.
“ Ifeel for her. Afrikaans people are really toxic and a danger to themselves””
OH REALLY,????
Thinking or saying that is the problem
If you do not have anything nice to say about someone rather don’t say anything..
Thank you Relebogile for explaining white privilige to someone who did not understand it! Hopefully many more will learn while watching!
Am I the only one who thinks Relebogile's voice sounds like that of Anele Mdoda? I love them both. Powerful phenomenal women
Wow.. I never realised that until now.. So true. If she spoke on radio I would definitely think it's Anele

Very interesting interview. I am similar but not from South Africa, I've been here since 2015, but have still experienced and still am experiencing some of these same things. As someone who was raised in the black and indian community and have had very few white friends, we are all equal..... As long as we choose to see it that way. Relebogile, I would love to have a chat with you sometime about all this and hear your side as well.
What's your Instagram?
👏really eye opening
We all equal? That’s factually not true.
@@realteawithsandy1366 Like I said, we have to choose to see it that way. Unfortunately some think we aren't the same and a lot of the time (not all) that is why they will always be fighting
@@lifeofdtw9694 we cant just ignore the black experience just because white people want us to so they can feel better about the way they have treated us and still do. white people have taken NO accountability for what they have done and how they still benefit and its actually insulting to keep asking black people to turn a blind eye while they continue to be oppressive. these imaginary grey areas that white people want us to live in ...or rather the farce they want us to buy into is just so disrespectful. This woman speaks so boldly about being the space to be herself ( whatever that means) ...BLACK people afforded her that. lets remember that. Also the space to be herself ...its such a confusing statement...you can not be a part of a culture and not understand the experience of that culture. I dont fall for these weak narratives.

Sesi Relebogile re leboga channel ya gago ngwanagesho. This interview was insightful, I’m also having issues of tribalism and homophobia in KZN because I’m a coloured looking Pedi man dating an Indian man. The things we go through as South Africans in this day and age are appalling.
Relebogile realeboga for making her feel comfortable to share her story and I also like that you still asked the necessary questions that allowed you to probe deeper.... wow the kfc phrase is such an eye opener
Bathong, I'll never see KFC the same again 🤣💀☠️
The peace of knowing your identity and what you identify with, without feeling bad or ashamed about it is hella important.

Rele's interviewing skills👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Good work Relebogile
The fact that this is a 'thing'. That there's an interview like this in *South Africa* just baffles me completely.
Relebogile, your interviewing skills though🔥🔥🔥
Loved how she said "Huisegenoot Cover" hahahaha ooooooh bethuna! These conversations are eye opening.

Oh my word it is you! Hey girl, great topics love ur show. Thanks for the awesome reminder of our choir days lol!
@@Algimantaz lol racist rationalizing bullshit as "human psychology"

You ask leading questions that then make it easier for people phrase their answers. How did youtube hide this gem from me?? This is amazing, I really enjoyed this interview!!
We all human after all, I love you gal. Thanks ausi Relebogile.🥰💥
She is so honest, n fact that she is content with who she is and unapologetic about it is so beautiful 💯😊
She's dated a black guy but has never experienced white privilege. My hubby who is white is greeted by Sir at the checkout. They just say: Plastic to me. He calls them out all the time. If you don't educate yourself, speak the language then it's cultural expropriation. Go deep or don't at all
It is in the nuances
It is in the nuances
So true. I became very conscious of White privilege when I dated a white man, it is unsettling that she is not aware of it. With her words she explained that according to society dating black is downgrading and dating white is upgrading and yet she hasnt connected the dots. She still needs to do a lot of Reflection.
Thanks for such a great conversation. Your questions were well throughout and meaningful. Thanks to both of you!!!
When it comes to race, the world is a sad place. God created all men equal yet some groups think they are better, how very empty and sad. It's melanin or the lack thereof that has become such a devastating deal. I love the fact that I have alot of melanin as part of the human race
I like your mentality girl . You are building a world for all humans to live as people and to appreciate each other.

My husband lost ALL of his friends when he started dating me and my friends were admiring me for dating him. I really hated this backward slave thinking! Even going to shops the tellers would ask if I could hook them up with a white man 🙄. I think we as black people need to start loving ourselves and each other and know who we actually are we used to be Kings and Queens!!

Relebogile Mabotja, the best interviewer. Very flexible, wonderful and exceptional questioning.

Interview so nice, it is as if it was rehearsed. Wow!! 🤙🏽
Very interesting conversation. Loved it
I'm really glad I came across this channel.
