This video has unironically improved my fire safety awareness. Every time I see a fire extinguisher I get a mental tick of "bring me a fire extinguisher, a good one, with the foam"
Lol, yep. I learned for my job in a warehouse that there are different types of fire extinguishers with different uses against different kinds of fires. - Water fire extinguishers are a good choice when an organic material such as wood has caught fire (a "Class A" fire), because they can soak the material with moisture and act as effective cooling and mildly block some of the oxygen that the fire needs. However, they're worse than nothing at all against electrical fires (Known as "Class C" fires) due to short circuits or against fluid fires (Class B) because you'll just scatter the fluid as it burns, spreading the fire. - Foam fire extinguishers are good against Class A and B fires. Their effectiveness against Class C depends on the exact type of foam used, but it usually isn't very good. Foam is better because it can block airflow to the fuel source, starving out the fire. They leave behind foam that you need to clean up later. - Dry and Wet powder/chemical extinguishers work by adhering to a burning material and starving it of air. It's good against Class B and Class D (burning metals like sodium or lithium) fires, and sometimes Class C fires. These may leave behind a powder, chemical, or residue. - Carbon Dioxide fire extinguishers literally work by putting out a dense but short range cloud of CO2, the same kind that we exhale when we breathe. This will starve a fire of oxygen, and it doesn't leave behind a mess to clean up or spread any contaminates either. However, they're ineffective outside because the wind can blow all the CO2 away easily, and they're very dangerous to use in confined spaces because you can asphixiate yourself. Also, if the CO2 does fan out or go away too early (such as while the material is still hot), the material can re-ignite. Ultimately, CO2 extinguishers are by far the best option against Class C fires (electrical fires), especially since we can design around them by putting things like electrical junction boxes in confined spaces whenever we build a warehouse or factory. That way, if there's a fire, we can easily deploy CO2 and smother it long before things get out of hand. Foam fire extinguishers are "better" than water extinguishers because they can put out the same kinds of fires as a water extinguisher and more, whereas a water extinguisher can't handle every kind of fire that a foam extinguisher can. However, water is unlikely to leave behind strong chemicals or residue and are cheaper. Either way, neither extinguisher is the best option against burning metal or electrical fires (class D and C respectively). Mr. Fujiwara was right to ask for a foam extinguisher because he used oil to set the plant on fire. Water would have spread it and made the fire worse. Powder and Chemical extinguishers would have worked well too though, and Carbon Dioxide would have had the potential to work provided that it doesn't just fan out too quickly or asphixiate Mr. Fujiwara or the pink-slip employee of the month. (if you want to learn more about fire extinguishers from the experts, look up the National Fire Protection Association, or NFPA).

My guess is that each new frame is a scaled/perspective-corrected old one, which is then edited to fit the new surroundings. It would explain quite a few of the artifacts present. It reminds me of this trick some people do in Processing where you scale the image slightly and change the pixel in the center, and it creates really cool patterns as you stretch the image.
@@Selicre that's what i was guessing. you can see the stretching uses no filtering too, it kinda gives it away. I'm curious about what are you referring to with Processing, can you point me out to some link?
@@Selicre no problem! thanks anyway! I was just wondering if you reckon this animation is all manually done in like Photoshop each frame or there's some special Processing trickery going on? On a side note, as a 3d artist, i would love to reproduce these weird effects with shaders. Can you imagine a game looking like this? That would be amazing.
@@eternalreturnal I think this is all manual, save for some trickery for walk cycles. As for shaders, what you will have to do is store the last frame, and compare it to the next one; only update the pixels that are sufficiently far away from the old ones. You can also transform the old frame in various ways as you move the camera.
This is the closest thing I've seen to what dreaming feels like. The lack of object permanence, the way that movement is just the slurring of distance as far becomes near and near becomes far, the oddness of conversation, the feeling of being out of place. If you could use AI to randomly generate sequences like this, it would be essentially the same as dreaming

Yes. There's static buzzing around the words. "You have *bzz*exe*zz*rci*zzz*zed utmos*zzz*t discernment. [try] beyond that of the layman." Not to mention that words like "discernment" and "layman" aren't very common words.

I haven't a clue how you even begin to animate something this way
My guess is that each new frame is a scaled/perspective-corrected old one, which is then edited to fit the new surroundings.
@@eternalreturnal Sorry, unfortunately I can't find literally anything about it. Doesn't help that I don't know what this technique is called.
This comment is satisfying to see. I was looking for a good comment that accurately explained how these videos feel, and you explained this perfectly. Thank you.
the hallway scene oddly feels claustrophobic to me, or akin to drowning.
@@gemstonegynoid7475 I like it, oddly comforting
Also the way the halls seem to stretch and distort, and how he passes by a bunch of extinguishers, I feel like I do stuff like that a lot in dreams where I know I am about to do something but do another thing and it’s never questioned, just normal.
