    Great video, I am glad to took the time to address this topic. There are a lot of things I would comment on that would probably be more suitable for a conversation than a comment. For the sake of the algorithm which would promote your video if you have more comments, I would just touch point on 2 aspects. First, be careful when you say affordable to any prices. If you think about British income, that’s probably true. However, if you think about Romanian income, things change. The cost of living has increased in the past years and the pandemic made things worse.
    The other thing I would comment on is the private medical services. Some specialists are harder to find than others. On the other hand, I don’t know how things are in UK, but most doctors in the private clinics won’t follow up on you after a consultation. They will prescribe some medication and give some advice but won’t follow up to see if they really solved your issue. Sometimes you have to wait for weeks to find a free slot for a follow up consultation or just to have some blood tests results looked into. I don’t mean they should call to see if you’ re ok, you just don’t get any way of contacting them again unless you find another free slot for a consultation, which can prove difficult and time consuming at times.
    Look forward to more videos and seeing your perspective on things.

      Interesting and insightful comments Domn. Mircea. Thank you for them. Things are really bad at the moment in the UK, which is why I could be so positive about my experience of health care in Ro. But I agree, no system is without its faults.

      It isn't, it's a way of mutual help. Same as in the villages people use to come to the neighbours building a new house and so on as to build a house take a few days instead of months.

    Great video Mr. David, hope the'll be more soon :) i have some question for another Q&A when you have the time!
    - Why Romania?
    - In what other countries have you travelled?
    - Did you find any cool places that you weren't expecting? (In Romania)
    - Have you met any other british persons that lives in Romania?
    That's all :)

    • @livinginromania
      @livinginromania  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you for your comment. 1 I am married to a Romanian lady, so I chose to retire here. 2 Yes I have travelled extensively in Africa, South America, USA, India and most of Europe. 3 Many, which I hope to feature in future vlogs. Ocnele mari and Baile Herculane were very interesting. 4 There are 1000 Brits living in Romania. I have only met 2 in Craiova. Most Brits live in the capital or in Brasov or Sibiu. Will address you questions in a future vlog at greater length.

    The subtitles are good not only to learn other languages, but also to let the original actors to do their thing(good or bad). How is any good a voice-over translation on good actors, how would it sound "are you talking to me?!" voiced over by a random romanian actor. So we did good on this situation, not like some other countries where Al Pacino, Arnold, Robert de Niro have the same voice over, sounds really bad! As the worlds evolves maybe the same voice(male one) will be for Jane Fonda, Megan Fox too. I hope I will never live that day! Best regards from Pitești!

    red in the South, blue in the North ... more like the reds have a slight advantage in the South and the blues have a slight advantage in the North
    Nepotism is mostly an illusion: in Romania we count relatives up to 4th degree cousins, that is you have a common ancestors 5 generations in the past, so in the town where your family comes from almost everybody is a cousin :-) and you'll be hard pressed to find somebody who is not related ... the other side of the coin is marriage is banned between people who have common ancestors 5 generations in the past so moving away from home to find a mate is very common, which explains why Romanians took so well to moving around Europe.
    Drinking out/in: in UK I think serving drinks was a privilege/manor monopoly which was sold to entrepreneurs, in Romania making your own alcohol is regarded as a human right, and would be placed below life and liberty but very likely it is regarded as more important that the pursuit of happiness.
