This is what it looks like when some of the best in the world do their thing. You will not find a better Captain and crew or better anglers than you are seeing here-hats off-I can’t get enough of watching Sarah kick butt on big fish

Is the boat in gear when the fly is presented?

looks like it but no--Chris Sheeder was a stickler --we were using 20 pound tippet as well. That boat is narrow and had almost no glide pattern ---so he gun it before he pulled it out of gear

I refuse to believe that a little fly rod like that can haul in a 500-700 lb blue marlin

We were using IGFA 20 pound tippets--the fly rods were Sage 16 wts. The biggest was around 350 pounds. It is all about team work

@@OBXFLATOUTFLYGIRL we’re going to be moving to Honolulu within next 3-5 yrs, and we were watching 2nd NG episode about in the wild about Hawaii… it showcased Tern Island, part of Midway Atoll islands, whereby tiger sharks come for about 3 weeks a year to eat young albatrosses?! The island is mostly a 3,000 ft airstrip, so I really wanted to try catching a Tiger on a fly?! What reel/rod do you think could handle that??? Obviously stronger tippet with piano wire leader?!

As a FlyFisherman i can say that THIS is far away from flyfishing

Do you like fishing in that way ? Good on you !
I’m not talking about like it or not , I’m
saying,as a FlyFisherman, this is far away from flyfishing teqnique.
This is forcing a fish to eat sometimg after it has follow anorher bait or lure swapping it in 20 meter from the boat without casting and stripping.
If you like to have fun like that who can complain ? Enjoy

M_K so you aren’t really a flyfisherman as you imply, you seem to be confusing flycasting with flyfishing?! The World, Country, State records, which I’ve had fortune of having one in Texas, has very specified rules, casting, stripping or presentation stylisms are NOT in the rules whatsoever?! I’ve stuck my flyrod, through tree branches, and lowered my olive woolly bugger to a tailing carp, I enticed them purely with my fly, then fight was on for 12 minutes?! You’d seem to indicate I wasn’t flyfishing by your narcissistic comments?! But record book rules say you’re wrong?! Furthermore, chumming for sharks for world records would seem to invalidate those WRs if YOU were in charge?! People ask me if I like fishing? I say not so much, I like fishcatching LOL :D anyway, the connection of flyfishing is through the rod into your soul as you’re at one with the fish?! That’s the payoff?! How you get there is purely on the individual?! Also, 350 lbs fish with 20# tippet?! Amazingly sporting if you ask me?! Ps did you know, there’s records attained using a flyrod, line and fly as a bow and arrow??? WHOA?! I need to start leaving disparaging comments to those people as well, I’ll help your crusade!!! NOT
