Velvet Jones is not a pimp. He's a mentor for open-minded, independent young women seeking guidance on becoming financially independent.

Velvet Jones was a character that Eddie Murphy played when he was a cast member on SNL back in the early 80's. He made an infomercial presentation for his book entitled, " I wanna be a ho!" Basically mocking the trend of infomercials that were on YV back then.

Velvet is a reprisal of one of Eddie's characters from 1982 on SNL when he guest hosted last year. Velvet, Mr. Robinson's neighborhood, Gumby Dammit, Buckwheat, and James Brown were all recurring bits on the show. Velvet was just a new late night "informercial" like they were in the 80s especially on public access television.

Bringing Buckwheat back was odd to me cause I had the "Best of Eddie Murphy SNL" VHS, and in that one, Buckwheat dies by end after getting shot, lol.

You should catch some of the SNL skits from Eddie's era (early to mid 80s). A good one was their spoof of President Reagan's shooting where they replaced the people involved with the cast of Little Rascals. Eddie played Buckwheat and he was playing Reagan's part.

It’s too early because in the TV timeline, the hours between eight and 10 pm are considered the best hour to have your television show put on because it’s considered “prime time” , especially towards the end of the week from Thursday to Sunday! Well, at least, before social media came around. What that means is it’s the hour of television when you get the most viewers and l most eyes watching the TV show! Which means you can charge the most expensive rates for the TV ads and advertisers would have to pay the highest rates if they wanted to advertise on that show. It was a win-win for both the show and the advertisers, because they actually did a time where what was advertised people bought! The networks would put their best shows in that timeslot, or they would put a new show they wanted to be successful or a show that might have fallen in the ratings. They would put on right after the primetime show at 9 o’clock and most of the time that low rated show will automatically just jump right back up because the most eyes would be watching it . That 9 o’clock spot was sometimes referred to as the prime Time follow up or playing time leading swap! An example, show that they put in this prime time slot to be successful was Friends and that started a cultural phenomenon! After that 9 o’clock p.m. is the next timeslot that has the most eyes of adults watching! So it’s considered early for TV hours for prime time hour! Late night programming on TV does not start until midnight! Everything before midnight is considered early! You have to remember the entertainment industry is on a different time than when you’re human time! So eight to 9 o’clock might seem right to you watch the TV it’s just getting started so it’s early! Do you understand that right? You said you worked in Casting didn’t you? You know what I mean, you just probably forgot! So that’s why it’s considered early and not late
