    I love how everybody's motivations in this movie makes sense, I can understand both sides. Cap trusts himself enough to make sure the Avengers wouldn't cross any lines they shouldn't, at least not intentionally and he knows that governmental control could lead to them being used for the wrong things or kept away from doing the right things. Tony obviously does not trust anyone including himself after Ultron and he feels responsible for everything that goes wrong, that the Avengers could need somebody to officially keep an eye on things makes perfect sense.
    Cap is a soldier, he probably has an easier time viewing certain things as collateral damage or is able to see that the damage they caused is necessary as the damage their enemies would have caused would have been way worse, while Tony is just a civilian, he does have some experience at this point but he was never trained for it and we keep seeing him struggling with guilt or his mental health, he has since the first Iron Man movie been all about taking responsibility, imagine feeling responsible for all the damage his weapons has caused in the past on top of what happened with Ultron or any other thing that went wrong.

    • @Sigart
      @Sigart 3 ปีที่แล้ว +98

      Additionally, Cap's entire filmography has been a lesson on how he just can't trust the government: First Avenger, he was told they would abandon Bucky's regiment to Hydra, Avengers: Shield is using the Cube to build weapons, Winter Soldier; Hydra infiltrated Shield and Fury (and the government it must be assumed) thought death helicarriers was somehow a good idea.
      Tony, though, has had the complete opposite lessons made. Several times, he's been caught up by problems and enemies of his own making or caused by his own hubris. So, yeah, he feels responsible. And probably at least a little wants to put that responsibility onto someone else.

    • @TheIcemanthomas
      @TheIcemanthomas 3 ปีที่แล้ว +65

      And that’s the one flaw in caps mindset that people always skip over when they choose his side over Tony. Tony is well aware of his past being the war monger that he was. He has to live with all the lives of the innocent that he was responsible for ruining or ending. He is an alcoholic, and constantly deals with anxiety throughout these movies because of this. Cap while very affectionate to his people, and a great leader. He’s always gonna be a soldier. So losing people in the name of good is never a problem for him if he knows he can’t prevent it. He’s fine with collateral damage as long as he can save as many people as possible. That may be great for the greater good. But that’s a hard thing for the actual victims to deem acceptable. He’s the one person in the group who death and destruction seems to effect the least. Thus the reason why zemo thinks the way he thinks about supersoldiers. And I’ll not say anything else as to not spoil anything zemo related.

      Finally! I found someone who actually understand both sides.
      For people it's easy to choose team but for me it didn't.
      I think and think again. None of the sides are wrong, and none of the sides are right. They came with real reason. And for who think about it, all the reasons was just make sense.
      Cap is a hero, warrior, soldier, who understand politics. He know all stuff about war and also what it's risks. He know what to do. He's the type of great friend and great captain. He think the way soldiers think. Don't let any people snuck behind and control you right? That's why he's right.
      Tony was one of those civilians who got his destiny to be a hero, and the way he think, is the way civilians think. We as the civilians, wanted a peace right? And that's what Tony's thinking. He undertand his power could kill more and more people, so he just giving up his freedom for this people. And that's why he's right too.
      Some people think cap is wrong bcuz he doesn't obey the rules, and some people think Tony is wrong bcuz he giving away his freedom into bad people. But they don't truly understand why is they (Cap and Tony) doing that.

    • @Sigart
      @Sigart 3 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      @@TheIcemanthomas Hmm... I think it's wrong to word it that Cap is "fine" with collateral damage. He accepts that collateral damage happens, but saying he's fine with it implies that it doesn't move him at all. If it didn't move him, he wouldn't try to prevent it. But you're right, he doesn't let it weigh on him like Tony does.

    Rationally speaking it'd be easy to side with Cap but I'm sure a lot of us have trauma regarding our family.
    Not only did Tony see his parents get killed, it was also the friend of that one person his father seemed to care about more than him. It was difficult for him to make up with Cap from the start because of that and his trust got absolutely trampled on.
    Yes, we know that it isn't Bucky's fault at all but I don't think you can act rationally after watching your parents get brutally murdered.
    On the other hand Bucky is also a victim and we know that. We don't want him to get blamed.
    And on behalf of the contract you can totally understand why Tony feels guilty and wants to sign it while Steve saw what Hydra did and definitely doesn't trust the government anymore.
    This movie did absolutely everything right. Not only did the characters divided but the audience as well. I mean it's been years and most of us still can't pick a side because there's no right and wrong.

Not trying to take away from anything you said, nor trying to say that Cap is automatically right, but from the point of view we are given in the film, Cap didn't sign because he knows that the world is safer without the intervention of the people that tried to nuke new York, and Tony signed because he didn't want the next "Charlie Spencer" incident to be blamed on him.

    Spiderman usually can't make webs himself, that's always been true in the comics, it's only Sam Raimi's spiderman that could do that. Personally I prefer the web shooters because they can do more things than just shoot webs, and the formula can be altered for use on special enemies, also running out of ammo sometimes plays a part in his fights, it's just more interesting. Plus I don't even want to think about the logistics of Peter producing webbing in his body.

      I like that they kind of nodded to the Raimi Spider-Man a bit though with Falcon's line about "Is this stuff coming out of you?" but yeah I definitely prefer the web shooters! It also demonstrates how skilled Peter is with creating tech which is an important part of his character.

    To help your confusion, in most media, Spider-Man gains only specific powers from the spider bite : superhuman strength and agility, ability to stick to things and heightened reflexes (spider sense) among other things. He always uses custom web shooters that he makes himself even though he is usually around 15 when he gets his powers (because he is also a genius). The raimi movies changed this and made the webbing organic, making it come out of his body but those movies are pretty much the only media where the webbing is like this. In almost every other iteration he uses web shooters

    22:17 Spider-Man has traditionally ALWAYS had to make wristbands that shoot fake webbing. When James Cameron wrote his script (which is available to read online in full) in the mid 90's, he changed it so that the webbing was part of his natural abilities. Sam Raimi kept that idea in the 2002 film. But all comic books and cartoons have always had Peter manually making his wrist shooters.

    Spider-Man has always had mechanical homemade web shooters. Alfre Woodard, who played the mother who was upset with Tony/Iron Man, did another movie with Robert Downey Jr in 1993 called Heart & Souls. In it, she was one of four people who were killed in a bus accident on the night that Robert's character was born (his parents had been driving to the hospital when the accident occurred) and their souls became attached to him. It's a good movie which also stars Kyra Sedgewick, Charles Grodin, & Tom Sizemore as the other three also linked to Thomas. He could see them as he grew up, until Milo's (Tom) actions get Thomas in trouble by convincing the kid to bet on horse races for him & they decide it's best to make it so that he can no longer see or hear them until they need his help as an adult to finish their unfinished business. Robert sings in the movie a couple of times.

    I highly recommend you to watch the next movies in cronological order, so you don't miss out anything. Plus, the MCU experience is far more satisfying when you leave "Infinity War" and "Endgame" for last, one right after the other. That being said, your next reaction should be to "Black Widow" (starts right after the events of Civil War in 2015), followed by "Spider-Man: Homecoming" (around the same time as BW); "Doctor Strange" (takes place in 2016); "Black Panther" (takes place in 2017); "Thor: Ragnarok"; and "Ant-Man and The Wasp" (just make sure you DONT watch the post-credit scenes).
    Finally, but also before infinity war and endgame, you should catch up with "Captain Marvel" (which takes place in 1995) and "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2".

    Just watched this movie last night for the first time. My boyfriend finally convinced me to watch all MCU movies and I do not regret it one bit.
    Oh and I was pleasently surprised at Zemo's casting - the actor, Daniel Brühl, is actually German, so for once I didn't shudder at bad German dialogue in an American movie. Although the rest of the German dialogue in this film isn't perfect - really, how hard is it to get someone who actually speaks German as a writer?
