I'm looking for a certain feature, where you can select a part of a pixel and rotate it to any angle you like. Not just 90 degrees or flipped. Any suggestions? I've been looking at inkscape but I want a program that's relatively easy to use, sorta like this.
Damn, already replied and accidentally deleted when I wanted to edit it. GrafX2 has this feature, you can find it in the brush effects dialog, by left clicking the brush effects/factory button, it's in the middle section of the toolbar below the brush grab/selection tool and to the left of the text tool. Inside this dialog there are several actions you can take, such flipping, 90º rotation, ANY ANGLE ROTATION, stretching, etc. "Any angle" works by nearest neighbor, it doesn't antialias or anything so you'll have to clean up the results, but it does show its usefulness from time to time. Btw, I also love Scott Pilgrim :3
Thank you so much for replying! I ended up getting Aseprite & the select tool on there lets you rotate art to any angle and didn't require any cleaning up after rotation so thats a plus! Super convenient! Still testing it out some to see how it works with me, so far so good! Hope you have a nice day, glad to hear you like Scott Pilgram, that's rad!! :)
And another failure to get someone into GrafX2! Good thing it's not a job, or I'd be already fired and sued! :D I do have Aseprite around too, I just haven't found anything I prefer to use it for over GrafX2. I do use GraphicsGale sometimes, when I want to use the extra animation features it has over GrafX2. Hey, at least you're not using photoshop for pixels... now are you? (o:
hey guy, thanks for your tutorials, i make my videogames with this program, and i desesperate for explote all potential from this program, i gone suscribe for you channel, hi from latinamerican
+leonardo andre uribe aiesi Would you believe that the homepage has been kind of... wiped? The maintainer appears to have repurposed it entirely and the GrafX2 sections are no longer there... You can grab version 2.4 here, apparently: www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Graphic/Graphic-Editors/Grafx2.shtml
Yes it can. IIRC, you did it by first selecting that color with the RMB click, then RMB click again on the little checkered button next to the "LAYERS" label. This should let GrafX2 know that you want to use for BG a color index different from the default color index 0. This will also make the new color act as the transparent color for layers if you're using them.
Hey man, hope you're still using this account, can you select sprites and move them? Lets say I made 2 guys and they're a bit too far away from each other, how can I move them closer if they're on the same layer?
With the select/brush grab tools - they're the discontinuous line icons next to the two FX buttons. One of the button halves selects as a rectangle, the other one as polyline or freehand. Once you have selected the tool, if you use it with the RMB, it's CUT mode - removes selection from the original layer; if you use it with the LMB, it's COPY mode - nothing is removed, but you can use the brush you just grabbed to erase the original with RMB. If this wasn't clear enough, just hit F1 while your mouse pointer is over any of those two icons and the help page for that feature will come.
Well shit I kinda forgot for nearly a week. Sorry, weekends sometimes do that. Here you go, a whole bunch of download links for more platforms that you can shake a stick at: pulkomandy.tk/projects/GrafX2/downloads I recommend you to stick to version 2.4. 2.5 apparently still has a few kinks that are being ironed out.
I'm not dead! I've got a lot of pixel art work to do, and I've been going through some life stuff. When I've got all my shit together I'll make another tutorial, I just don't have the time or energy to do it.
thank you!
You're welcome!
finally going to start making my own games and this software looks perfect thanks mate
Which program would you make your games in?
unreal engine 4, believe it or not.

Btw, I'm assuming you meant a part of a pixelart piece, because part of a _literal_ pixel well... *head asplode*

Psiweapon yes!! haha I meant pixel art. Normally I just call them pixels for short, it's a habit 😂

OHHHHHHHH FUCK!!!!!
Do you know if the black background color can be changed?
Yes it can. IIRC, you did it by first selecting that color with the RMB click, then RMB click again on the little checkered button next to the "LAYERS" label. This should let GrafX2 know that you want to use for BG a color index different from the default color index 0.

WoomyDraws I can't right now, but I'll do ASAP along the weekend. 2.5 was released a short ago, and a new version of Dawnbringer's Toolbox too!
