    I have the gen 1 MC2C and for the budget-minded like me, it's hard to justify buying another carry gun at this point. thin, light, higher capacity mag than many, a slightly longer barrel, and a grip I can get all my fingers on but not too tall to fight concealment. and I'm not on the red dot bandwagon yet. for me, it's the ideal carry piece, until it isn't :-D. I bought mine before the prices went down to the low $300's on some sites, which is a heck of a value.

      It is my favorite 9. Especially with the MCARBO trigger spring kit.

    Kudos to you for recommending the MCARBO spring kit. They have a unique system for smoothing out the trigger pull on several pistols. I have always been very impressed not only with their products but also with the detailed installation videos of their products.
    Have you tried using the G-Sight laser training tool to see which pistol is best? Love their product since you can see where you are hitting the target.

    • @AmbGun
      @AmbGun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, their installation video for the MC2c kit was awesome...hence why I didn't bother to do my own version.
      G-Sight training laser and app is similar to the Mantis Laser Training Academy. However, while I always use a training laser, I rarely setup the app for scoring since just shoot light switches and rely on the MantisX to tell me what I'm doing wrong.

    Excellent and thorough review. I'm picking my mc2c up tomorrow. This is the 2nd one I've had. My first MC2C kept jettisoning the magazine when the gun would recoil. I sold it to one of my female clients and ordered the optics ready model when it came out. The magazine release definitely needs a fence or guard to prevent accidental activation.

    Very thorough video, much appreciated. I can't figure why the MC2c optics ready hasn't gained more popularity. I will need to upgrade from my original MC2c.
    Do you recommend the polymer or glass lens on the Sheild RMSc optic or do you recommend another optic all together?

    • @AmbGun
      @AmbGun  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I do favor Shield Sights, either one, the aluminium RMSc or the Polymer SMSc. I prefer glass lenses so I can clean them without fussing too much.
      I think the MCx pistols get dismissed by the fashion conscious who look on Mossberg as a Fudd shotgun company.
      When I bought the optics ready version, I thought I'd sell the old model. I couldn't do it, though. I have suggested that they offer a magazine internals upgrade kit to bring the original MC2c to 14 rounds.

    What great detailed review, watched it all and made me want to buy one. Can I ask about what is that you refer to a “G wrap technique “(? )I’d like to learn more about it as I haven’t heard of it. Always learning with your videos, thank you for the review .

      Glad you liked the review.
      GWrap is an extreme pistol retention technique. I live fire demonstrate it at the very end of my Minuteman Review of the MC2c. But I only tried it after thousands of rounds of dry fire practice of the technique.
      I have a short video on GWrap as well as a video from the originators of the technique at the bottom of my Point Shooting page...

    I like its takedown scheme and sunken optics cut, but the Delta 2 M brings a lot to the table at approximately the same size. Would be interesting to run them side by side.

    • @AmbGun
      @AmbGun  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would love to test a Delta 2M. Looks like the slide serrations would do well in our Bloody Hands test. But I really dislike adapter plates...more height and an added point of failure. I'd like to get my hands on one to measure it's grip ratio...it looks like it might be pretty low and so less effective for point shooting. A well protected mag release button and ambi slide release, but rather thick for IWB carry. It is very efficient for rounds per size and weight.

    • @funkla65
      @funkla65 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AmbGun IDK; the Delta is designed as a 9mm (not a 40), and steel mags without plastic cladding, so it's a lot slimmer than a Glock 19, and so the grip ratio may surprise you.
      I agree on the plates. If the internals wouldn't interfere, an RMS-C footprint milled into the slide would be slicker.

      The mag release is reversible, but yeah true ambi would be nice. As for handguns, I've backed off of my ambi obsession a bit since I don't carry an extra magazine preferring a tourniquet over an extra mag. I wish the MC2c had a paddle mag release (like the VP9) to prevent accidental mag disengagement.

      I do wish they did more parts online...slides, mag internals, etc. Given that the licensed the Strike Industries takedown, I wonder if that is why they don't sell a OSP slide.

    Does actually have a loaded chamber indicator incorporated into the external extractor similar to the CZ-P10 series pistols. It's very slight but it's there

    • @AmbGun
      @AmbGun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those extractor indicators are good for satisfying the legal bedwetters, but in a high stress situation where fine motor skills turn coarse they are all but useless. At least they don't risk a case blow out or encourage newbies to waggle the muzzle about like chamber view ports.

    • @rod675
      @rod675 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AmbGun I think it's something one would almost have to train their self to feel for the slightly raised function. I find myself intentionally looking for the raised indicator when I'm at the range..and of course that's not a high stress situation..I get that.

    With the light strikes would you consider keeping the factory striker spring and only installing the MCARBO Sear spring and Striker block safety spring?

    • @AmbGun
      @AmbGun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will continue with the complete MCARBO kit. I don't normally run Tula steel case ammo. And we did have a couple of steel case Tula "light strikes" during a P365XL session a couple of months ago. So I'm not sure the MC2c or the lighter MCARBO springs are to blame.

    Question from a gun forum. Have you tired the 14 & 16 rd magazines from the optic ready MC2c in a non optic ready (13 & 15 rd version) MC2c? If so, do they fit and does non optic ready MC2c's fire okay with the larger capacity magazines?

    Is it possible to get an optic ready slide for the earlier version?

    • @AmbGun
      @AmbGun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been agitating for Mossberg to release more parts for the pistols on their online store. So far, slides are not officially available, but maybe by contacting customer support. But with the updated striker block safety, I think you'd need an updated trigger bar, too. Moreover, given how much slides cost, I think it'd be better to have two pistols...at least that's the route I went. Another advantage of the new pistol is the increased capacity of the new magazines. I'd really like to see Mossberg release the internals to upgrade earlier mags.
      If you don't currently have the Tru-Glow tritium sights, THAT is an easy upgrade to make. Although for most people the installation should be performed by a gunsmith.

      Many people struggle "finding the dot" on optics equipped pistols. I think practicing "point shooting" is the key to acquiring a fast sight picture. With a training laser, you could practice point shooting with your original MC2c. The Mossberg pistols are among the best point shooting pistols out there.

      Last month my AmbGun affiliate payout was about $40. My adventure channel (RaggedyEdge), with 1/20th the subs brought several times that...and I spend way more time filming and editing for AmbGun. While I think AmbGun is more important, I am considering transfering my focus to RaggedyEdge.
      TH-cam payments last month were less than $10.
      I hope AmbGun affiliate sales DO pick up. I desperately need a new computer, camera, tripod, and audio kit. I'm delaying dental work to keep videos coming through the end of this year in hopes that the affiliate payouts at least start covering my production costs. Filming and editing a review video is 30-40 hours of unpaid effort. And setting up shots really fucks up the enjoyment of shooting.
      My "sales pitch" videos seem rather poorly designed to generate affiliate sales though.
