If you want the absolute best G48 out of the box, get a MC2c. If you want the pride of owning an American made handgun, get the MC2c. If you don’t mind all of the third party upgrades (sights, mag button, S15 mags) go with the G48. If you like the idea of keeping your striker channel clean, MC2c.

I have been carrying my MC2C for over a year. I love mine. Switched from the M&P shield. Did almost the same video when I got it.

Holy COW, Sir. I don't think there's anything you didn't cover on this. Mine has the manual safety, and I am extremely pleased. Finally was able to find some extra mags on BrokeGunner.

Good review. I had an Arex Delta which was my favorite carry gun. Thin, lightweight, great ergos, and a smooth shooter. But, once I held the MC2C, I bought it and made it my primary carry gun. All I said about the Delta is true for the MC2C, though the trigger is better. By the way, I sold a Glock 43X, which was a great gun, too, to get the Delta. And your description of the MC2C as a better G48 is spot on.
I've never handled the Delta. Thanks for sharing your path to the MC2c....Delta > G43x and MC2c > Delta, therefore MC2c > G43x.
I have an Arex Delta Gen 2, like the gun, but I find the magazine release too hard to use, and the slide serrations are too slick. When you said the trigger is better did you mean the Mossberg or Arex had the better trigger? Still think the Mossberg is better than the Arex?

It's the only centerfire pistol I've kept...having gone to 22LR.

Glad you liked it. I have a forthcoming minor update review of the new optics ready MC2c which I expect will parallel the MC2sc. I really like the Mossbergs, but for family magazine compatibility my primary 9mm is the P3665XL. And my most carried firearm is the KelTec P17.

Made some Talon pros for it and put som Truglos on. Soft shooting, low recoil,great trigger and the fit to hand is amazing!!!

@@settleschris1965 as was the MC1sc in 2019. I think Mossberg should have kept the Safe Takedown System marketing emphasis for the dealer channel and marketed the system to the general public as an aid to keeping the striker channel clean and keeping the pistol snag free. I think a lot of us "experts" heard about the STS and thought it was pandering to noobs. At least that was my thinking not too long ago..

Is there a dust cover for the MC2C slide assembly on the mc1sc frame? That is shown off at the very end of the video?
Not that I know of. Swapping slides like that between the MC2c and MC1sc is probably not sanctioned by Mossberg either. However, things get more friendly between the MC2c and the MC2sc.

Why can't the the grip be as comfortable as my Ryobi cordless drill which I think could accommodate a double stack mag?
It could. It could have a round, full, cushy grip. I just think for a self defense handgun, comfort is overrated. Far more important to have a grip that index's well for point shooting.

Compared to the Glock 48, the MC2c is almost identical in size and weight. The 43x is like the Glock 48, but with a 3/4" shorter barrel. Best stock rounds per size and weight.
Standouts for MC2c: Slide serrations, "safe take down system", and better trigger.
Standouts for G48/43x, is that when paired with Shield Arms S15 magazines, you get 15 rounds in the Glocks vs 13 for MC2c.

The 2 shops I usually buy from are having a difficult time getting the MC2c ...
Are the two shops getting any good CCW pistols? P365, Hellcat, G43x/G48, PF9? They are all so good or have their own particular charms.

I'd love to test one. I got to shoot a LEO's P229 a few years back and really liked it. I did better with it than the he and he did better with my FNS9c, than I. We should have traded. Great SA trigger and DA pull isn't too bad either. It was heavy and fat, but the weight was put to good use both for shootability and apparent durability. Just not something I'd want to CCW. If my Applegate Grip Ratio hypothesis is correct, the thick grips would hinder point shooting.

I've no hands on with the Sec9. One of my first pistol reviews was the Ruger American Compact 9 for which I had high hopes, but was terribly disappointed.

I’ve owned both, sorry 7 months later. The MC2C is a much better pistol. Better ergos, thinner, better grip texture, better trigger, more accurate. All my opinion, I sold the Security 9 a while ago.

Hard to find in local gun shops, but readily available at Guns.com. They do a great job of handling getting it to a FFL near you.

Not very well, the MC2c has a flare in trigger guard.

In my Pistol Rounds Per Size and Weight spreadsheet the Arex Delta with it's lightweight (21.6 oz), narrow (1.18"), and modest grip height (5") coupled with a 15 round capacity makes it a very efficient capacity to size and weight pistol...number one stock 9mm on my spreadsheet. The HK VP9 is a close second with the Mossberg MC2c and Hellcat rounding out the top four. I also have the yellow columns analyzing based on what I call weighted rounds per size and weight (details on the Weighted Rounds? tab). And the green columns are analyzing based on Kinetic Energy per size and weight...where the VP9 edges out the Arex Delta.

@@johnm1004 I've never seen one in person. I'd like to try one. I think I made brief mention of it in our Micro 9 Roundtable. I'd like to see a subcompact version. And now, maybe, a 22.
@@AmbGun I just found out the a Gen 2 Arex Delta is forthcoming to US in some months. Good idea to wait but still recommend to give it a try Solid build and i suspect some subtle improvements including option for red dot and different sizes

No. Magazines are not compatible. Slides are, though.

Maybe it's unimportant to some, but there is no mention of a safety mechanism. Why?
Standard striker block and trigger safety. For modern striker fired pistols, this is my preferred setup.
There is a manual crossbolt safety option from Mossberg...I despise crossbolt safeties for any truly ambidextrous shooter....dangerous.
For hammer fired actions with a very fine and light trigger (like the P17), I do appreciate the standard manual thumb safety.
Hmm seems like a good gun at a good price.

How this performed over time?
Perfectly. Easy field strip that includes striker channel satisfies my cleanliness obsession. It's my favorite, but I like the Hellcat and P365 awfully much, too. Its little sister, MC1sc, topped our Bloody Hands test.

@@AmbGun Thank you sir. Handled one the other day and it felt great. Could not get comfortable however w the cross bolt safety. Wound up going G48... Keeping my eyes out tho for the Mossberg MC series as they seem to be great value. Keep up the videos. This is one of the underrated knowledge based channels on YT.
@@LewisMeriwether76 Yeah, I'm not a fan of crossbolt safeties either. I guess in the world of panic buying, the ones without the safety are all gone. G48 is a great pistol, too. In fact, when paired with the Shield Arms S15 magazines, it just might be the best...certainly the best for rounds per size and weight.
can never find out if its worth a damn for left handed people like me.
As an ambi shooter, I carry and present left handed then change hands for optimal use of cover. I really wish the MC2c had a true ambi paddle mag release like the VP9. I also wish it had ambi slide releases like the POQ. But the slide serrations on the MC2c are so good I am confident in my ability to slingshot it under stress. And since I rarely carry an extra mag, I do not give enormous weight to ambi controls...except for paddle mag to prevent accidental magazine disengagement. On my Hellcat I had to move the mag button to left hand operation just to prevent accidental mag disengagement. So far I am leaving the MC2c setup for right handed mag release, but if I experience a disengaged mag, I'll move it to left hand operation.
If someone builds something slim like the G43/MC2c with ambi slide releases and paddle mag release, I'll adopt it. Until the, I really like the slim Mossberg, the ease of cleaning the striker channel, and the slide serrations despite not being my ideal ambi pistol.
If I could stomach the beltline displacement of a fat VP9 or PPQ, I'd choose them for being wonderfully ambi.
I encouraged Mossberg to at least offer a paddle mag release option, if they do I'll be very pleased.

@@AmbGun It's their 1st handgun, or 2nd in 100 yrs. So I hope the 2 that they put out sold enough to encourage them to make more. Hopefully making the improvements you want.
