    The best tubeless tape is Scotch 8896, also known as strapping tape or tensilized polypropylene. It's the exact same tape sold to you by big brands as "tubeless tape", but at a fraction of the price. Heard this from Josh from Silca and my experience using it was great. It doesn't leave behind a sticky residue like gorilla tape does.

      Where do you buy the scotch 8896 tape ? It seems you can only buy this in large quantities

      I bought something like 50m for CA$17 in Amazon. Enough for many rims.

    hahaha I love this. Bloke doesn't care what the bike industry caters to, he wants his wheels like this so he makes'em like this. Who cares if the front wheel is almost 2kg if you're not racing?

    Gorilla tape is awesome! No shame in running it because it lasts forever, doesn't leak or puncture, is way cheaper, and doesn't leave a mess behind if you peel it right. If you actually ride and repair bikes, it's a win all around.

      It's a bit thick it can cause issues in some cases where the tires are very tight

    I always wrap some Gorilla tape around my CO2 cartridge in case my tires get a big tear.
    It happened ones because of a rock on the road, so i taped the tear by the inside of the tire and it did a great job !!
    Gorilla tape is so strong !

    best tape is the ones that are designed for the purpose. People that use gorilla tape specially after spending time and money building there own wheels

    Rip that park shop stool cover, my rant is why don't they make stool seat covers out of cordura nylon? it would last decades.

    I worked in a shop when people still rode Tubular cyclocross tires on Enve wheels with internal nipples…

    Just use proper rim tape . the sealant breaks down the glue on other tapes over time and leaves a horrible mess . i know ive tried it .

    That's a pretty stand, but I'd get a P&K Lie if I'm spending crazy amounts.

    Honestly if your wheels need need adjustment after a week then you aren't doing it right and its probably best you don't build wheels. I'm only a home gamer, none of my builds need fiddling with after build. My guess is you don't stress them enough during building. So in a way you are right, factory wheels are probably better than wheels you have built poorly!

    2kg front wheel, nothing wrong with that, just get 50g more muscle and the difference is gone :D

    Electric tape works fine as tubeless tape and it's much easier to apply free of wrinkles

      @newttella1043 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Depends on how high the pressure. Maybe on mtb wheels where you rarely run more than 35 psi, but I would not trust it on a road bike over 70 psi. The tape will bulge at spoke holes and possibly tear against the sharp edges.

    It takes me 35 min to build a normal wheel and I charge $50. If you want crazy hubs etc or straight pull or bladed garbage then I let JBI do it and charge the customer for it. Really, if you are not running Shimano cup/cone hubs and DT spokes and Mavic/Velocity rims you are nuts.

    • @thedownunderverse
      @thedownunderverse 11 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      😂 DT 350 hubs, rims, spokes and squorx brass nipples. All the wheel a non-racer ever needs

    And proof again that bike mechanics are not wheel builders (and vice versa)...... for someone who has so much knowledge about bikes, stating that factory built wheels are as good as hand built wheels is just stupid.

    • @newttella1043
      @newttella1043 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hmmm, every factory built wheel I've own...and I've owned many... Have been very well built and true, not even a tweak even after denting alloy rims. Carbon rims have NEVER been trued. Brands I've purchased include Shimano, Mavic, Stans, Raceface, Araya, Specialized, Reynolds. I'm sure I've missed a few brands.
