These lore entries should have been part of the post lightfall exploring Neomuna quest, like each lost sector/ secret chest / activity unlocked another one you can listen to, giving the player more control over how fast they wanted to learn the story
Best part of lightfall for me was the final mission up to the boss fight, especially the Ishtar Facilities and the mystery of what information is held within. Just standing at a terminal every week for a few lines of dialogue was a HUGE disappointment.
Yup. These 14 lore drops (or at least the more relevant ones regarding the Veil and Neomuna's origins) could've been spread out as scannables across the facility as we made our way down to the Calus fight. This drip fed delivery method was just something to made me log in each week. Well, congrats Bungie you managed that: I logged in, listened, and dipped til next week.
There were also a bunch of terminals beneath the Veil, we should have been able to access those for lore like Exodus Indigo crew as they fled from Earth or notes on settlement, formation of Cloudstriders, erc.
imagine if they did this audio log thing but SHOWED Maya dismantling and maiming the exos in her mad scramble for knowledge and power- in a PG13 appropriate way of course, that would have SO much more impact than sigh sigh sigh im cry and kill myself, like, it's dark, but they could have gone so much further to make this in any way meaningful. Also Nimbus' line is actually kinda funny, so what have we learned from this? -Nothing we didn't already know.
My problem with Veil Containment is, outside of the first week, the other 13 weeks are just listening to audio logs; there's only 1 real mission. This easily could've been put into Logbooks with Lightfall that you unlocked via Neomuna triumphs.
This whole veil containment has the same problem as Lightfall. It was said that this would answer our questions, and it was just some random dialogue, mostly about feelings and maybe 3 things that were worth it. This would be good for me if it was a side thing that you could collect on neomuna, and wasn't time gated. This is the Bungie's writing team sniffing their own farts, and saying to us that we have to get used to this type of story telling. What innovation, they made a bunch of audio logs. You load into an existing place, and then somebody had to code an interact point over that asset (the computer panel). It is nothing and fixes nothing, and think of when somebody buys lightfall. The bungie writing team thought it was a good idea, that players would find the veil containment on neomuna, and then listen to 10 minutes of audio logs. About some characters that weren't even in the campaign, and whom they most likely don't even know. Which new light know who the fuck Chioma Esi and Maya Sundaresh are.
I've been playing this game for 4 years and I have no idea who Chioma Esi and Maya Sundaresh are lmao, I've only heard Msund12 and OXA from that nessus strike
Good points, they’re so far detached From the players they have no clue what to do. Lightfall was by far the worst “expansion” Iv paid for(even though it’s priced more than a full game). I liked Curse of Osiris more actually, it at least fit thematically in Destiny. Fucking Nimbus and Calus just don’t.
I agree to an extent, no one can deny the build crafting and the quality of life improvements done in lightfall were exceptional. It basically changed it into a new game. However, the story and the direction that they went and even the feedback they choose to respond to is not effective. I dont need to harp on the story, we all know its bad, but the problem is the writers cant recognize that it was just plain bad writing, it wasnt we wanted to know what the veil was or we wanted to know how SIVA ties in, it was just a shit story all around and the players want a better story like they got in witch queen or forsaken or taken king, etc.@@NakulKrishna
Sometimes a McGuffin really doesn't have a lot of depth. That's all the Veil was: a McGuffin. Just like the Traveler has been for the better part of a decade now.

Okay, I know that Osiris was with us on the first mission, when we started this whole "Veil Lore" cycle. But the way it ends, even with the knowledge that Osiris was always listening to it with us, just makes it seem like this was originally written to be a Neomuna Lore Book, that they just decided to release as a Voiced Monologue, without changing anything in it. Because Osiris' "closing speach" quite literally just sounds like an epilogue to a book...

Should of been done like: The Veil Containment complex, exploration mission - open caches that play the dialogue. Theyve done this before with Cayde and Ace of Spades!
Hey Myelin, i just wanted to say thanks for putting these videos out summarizing all the lore. As someone who doesn't play regularly anymore. I really enjoy tuning in every week hearing the lore & your thoughts on them. ❤
The vex can be interesting. They’re an unknowable mystery. You can have a good story based around a force that has an unknown goal, you just have to be able to tell the story well.
I feel you Myelin! This whole experiment could've EASILY been much better. For example, why did we only contain/defend the Veil only once? We went through a whole "follow the clues" detective thing before knowing to even go to Veil Containment. Then, when we get there, we had to fight off the Taken AND a Tormentor just to safely get the data. That was exciting and intriguing. It reminded me of the Bungee of old. But what I really want tot know is, why didn't we have to do that every time? Why didn't we have to follow more clues for each decryption log? Why wasn't the cost for finding the truth more prevalent in the main stream of the story? Why wasn't this in Lightfall? NONE OF IT makes any sense. We did get a mystery though, but Bungee delivered it in piecemeal, and we BARELY had to work for it. In fact, I didn't even know about this until 4 or 5 weeks into Veil Containment. It was a great idea that was delivered quite poorly. Idfk, those are just my thoughts.

Aaaaaaaaand nop. Everytime I create expectations with Destiny, I get disappointed... That's my fault... I know. Oh boy..
This video is the only reason I now know this info. Thank god for content creators (Wasn’t there speculation about a link between Maya Sundaresh and Lakshmi all the way back in D1?… I’m real out of the lore loop at this point, just got a faint memory nagging at me when you said that.)
Is there anything worth exploring with respect to The MSUND12 mentions in the previous strike/context vs. what we got this week from Chioma? Does this provide any new perspective on the previous MSUND12 mentions (Was it Insight Terminus)?
If this had been fed to us slowly throughout the campaign, with the worst horrors only being hinted at just before Rohan's death, and reaching their grotesque climax sometime just before the Guardian suffers defeat by accidentally letting our ghost connect the Veil to the Traveller, this story would've made Nimbus a far more interesting character. The ramifications of this information obviously have a profound affect on Nimbus, but if they had needed to struggle with this while still trying to come to terms with Rohan's sacrifice, and also recontextulizing that sacrifice before Nimbus found closure. Alone, these events are significant in a person's life, but it doesn't reveal a lot in terms of character to see them individually. Both at once would've created a character who is beset on all sides, and now fighting a war they didn't know was coming when they are at their weakest. I don't think Nimbus has earned closure for Rohan's death yet, as a character. Instead it's something that was granted to the character, written in for convenience. Nimbus needs to face the fact that Rohan died for a city and a culture built through communion with the darkness, unethical human experimentation, and symbiosis with the Vex, whom Cloud Striders spend most of their time defending against. Essentially, when you sign up to be a Cloud Strider, you agree to die so that everyone else can live in a paradise built by SIVA and continue to commune with the darkness. In other words, it's not that many people were sacrificed, almost ritualistically to the darkness, it's that people continue to be ritualistically sacrificed to the darkness to this very day. Nimbus must now deal with the fact that they have agreed to be that sacrifice, and choose what it means to be a Cloud Strider knowing that. Only then should Nimbus have earned closure for Rohan's death.
I heard someone claiming that Bungie said we would get more Veil Lore Weeks Next Season, which would add more of the 4 other Missing Neomuna Weapons...can anyone confirm or deny this?
I think what they should have done is created a weekly mission maybe like a wave base tower defense in front of veil containment(pieces are there from final lightfall mission) at the end of the mission we go down to the terminal decrypt the log and receive the neomuna weapons. Red borders guaranteed on first drop. Maybe even throw in the missing weapons from the trailer.
As someone who hasn't gone back to veil containment since the 2nd or 3rd log I did enjoy this. I just sat through the rest of them. But I can't imagine doing this week by week..
Hey Myelin can you do a deep dive into the implication of the Cartesian mind/body separation, how that relates to the mind/physical of the darkness and light, and how the final shape might be the unity of the mind and body
Hmmm, to hear Osiris refer to "the River" (which I assume is the River of Souls) is startling, considering the innate character of Osiris. Chioma giving herself to the Vex, is either an act of exhausted cowardice or a yearning to find a (hopefully) extant 'copy' of Maya Sundaresh within the Vex Network. But it really does nothing to forward our understanding of the Veil I think, UNLESS you think that running a Chorus and using a Conductor will give us an advantage where the Witness is concerned???? Remember that big white glowy Key thing sticking outta the Witnesses Ship and pointing DIRECTLY at the middle of the Portal the Witness opened in the side of the Traveler? Maybe the Veil has something to do with that, and aul Savvy, once rezzed will help with that.
Agree 100% great story, but I got bored by week 4 and just waited till something big happened and caught up. It also just felt like a voiced lore book and that's it. Real "this could have been an email" energy.
I assume this is setting up us working on the veil. Its showing us what not to do. They said there will be more next season, i reckon Osiris is going to do his own studies and not fall into the same trappings as Maya. As well as setting up Vex in the future as you said. We may see Lakshmi's body come back controlled by a vex Maya. Giving a physical humanoid form for the villain
Okay so: it’s fun and interesting to have a bit of dialogue to look forward to every week. Should they replace that with just telling the story in the campaign? No. But extra lore like this isn’t too bad but uh, you can’t just have Osiris and Nimbus “decrypting” the files each week. Spice it up a bit then you have a great side narrative option.
The biggest problem, imo, is that Destiny has incredible potential and none of the attitude. The writing team has made great stories, the lore entries are mostly really good, some are my favorite short stories in any media, the veil containment back to back is reaaaaly good material. Bungie HAS the resources, they HAVE the talent, and yet CHOOSE to relegate all that juice into side content that only 10% of the people will actually read, or if it's audio content it's hidden in a non intuitive place. I believe Lightfall (and current Destiny Story model) is one of those things we'll only understand for sure a few years after the team has disbanded and the game has been pretty much forgotten, so the team will feel safe talking about it. Personally, all of this sounds so much like they're too afraid of Sony higher ups saying "this is too dark/sad/emotional!! the kids won't buy the game!" to take any of the good lore into a main story. Which is fair and I wouldn't blame the devs, but disappointing nonetheless.
My impression of things from all this lore is that the Unveiling lore book from Shadowkeep, which positioned the traveller and the witness as the light/dark counterpoints to each other was actually propaganda from the witness, and arrogant too. This lore tells us that it's the traveller and the veil which are the counterpoints to each other, as the former embodies the light, so the latter embodies the darkness. I also have a pet theory based on this that neither the traveller nor the veil are properly sentient beings. Civilisations have projected meaning onto the traveller, but I reckon both it and the veil sinply react instinctively to their surroundings with no higher thought to their actions
if the ending of the winterbite quest teasing the return of titan is anything to go by, this could be a lead into season 22 being centred around vex, with Maya as a villain and involvement from asher mir, potentially a seasonal vendor
@@bragekv9937I think so too. Asher is done for now as he doesn’t think there is a chance of winning against the witness and he is just buried deep in the network. We win in the end of course but at what cost? Meaning, I bet the vex gain some ability to simulate paracausality, leading to them being the main villain. All that being said I bet the 9 become a major villain too. There is also the Aphelion and they are a thread that can be pulled too at some point as we move beyond Sol.
I believe we were told in a TWAB a few weeks back that the Veil Containment would continue into next season and the one after, not necessarily each week but occasionally.
I came from the Cross video. Just wanted to say awesome job summing it all up! I still plan to go back in game and listen but yeah this all could have been delivered better and Maya WILL be a Vex Villain.

Im over the tragic love story in Destiny. Every narritive seems to be drvien by some fucked up couple trying to find each other again, or get over the past. Orisis and Saint, Zavala and his wife, crow and amanda, mara and uldren, ana bray and the exo stranger, now this. Can i please get a narrative where half of it isnt about these people pinning over each other or their family issues. We're in the middle of a paracausal war that's lasted for around a millenia, there are other motivations to do shit. You know like when we took revenge for Cayde. "Yea look, i know we're all about to die, but i still have feelings for my ex thats been missing for 4 centuries and i think right now is the time to embark on this journey to find them."
Fr. We missed so much interesting or potential lore building due to Daddy issues ESPECIALLY with Clovis and his kids. The Creator of one of, if not THE MOST, powerful technological corporations of the Golden Age and the last person who existed before the Collapse gets yelled at, made fun of, or muted because he is a little cranky. It’s like the writers forgot humanity is on the edge of extinction and living in the rubble of a once glorious planet now reduced to ONE CITY.

I think since the Echoes image on the new seasonal cadence they put up during the showcase looks like a Vex, I'm predicting that Maya Sundaresh inside the vex network will be our villian after final shape. The vex are the next biggest threat after the witness
What i think would be really cool is if we got Chioma and Maya as like a pair of Vex antagonists yk mad in the system and Asher Mir Has to help us like a joker and Harly dynamic which would also be good to bring back Lakshmis VA cause i think she was a good one. The Vex are too vauge to be real antagonists and someone we know comanding the vex would work so mucb better but as a narrative experiment this was a really really bad idea this should have been front and center after lightfall its literally the answer to almost all of neomuna that wasn't in Lightfall.
So if they’re positioning Maya as a Vex villain, do you think that “Cayde’s” return is as a weapon against her, specifically? His journal sure laid out he had feelings for her, could he be a device to retrieve her from the Vex network?
I’d assume we will see Maya again, but Cayde will be used as a guide (it’s his conscience manifest) within the portal area and will most likely be separate.
The Vex are conceptually interesting but they've got no personality really. I don't want a whole saga surrounding them even if I like their architecture.

Do you think we'll download Cayde-6 from the Veil similar to what they did with Lakshmi-2? I agree it does look like Maya is going to be an important part of the Vex storyline after the Final Shape. They are definitely leaving a bunch of breadcrumbs in these Veil Containment story drops.
Totally agree. This is exactly what they do with season stories but lazier. This would be a great story over the course of a mission or a handful of missions.
At the end she said she contacted the Vex and stated she just wants to see Maya one last time, also that now even a hell looks like heaven, so those these means that she might be with the vex some how so she could be the key for us to fallow the witness, clearly no one has more info about it than her.
Hey whatever happened to the vex mind that they saved in the neomuna network? I thought there was a vex mind that was tired of fighting and didn't like the way the vex were going, does that have something to do with Maya??
(Singsong) Random documents and audio logs we find them stuck to message boards we find them under dogs we're gonna stick them in a file and give it a review cause we're bored with all the gameplay and there's nothin' left to do.
My personal theory is perhaps that Chioma basically got put back into the matrix by the vex at her request..became a digital copy...and from there perhaps she became the 'newborn' mind that sleeps inside Neomuna's computer system.
I agree the story was pretty good, given what it established and the foreshadowing it implies. On the other hand, I think it would've been better as a "show, don't tell". If we need the characters to directly ask us and explain each time what we "learned" or what was important, then it's very likely that the answer wasn't very clear. "What did we learn from all of this?" "That the Veil is Darkness-the power of consciousness made manifest-as much as the Traveler is the Light, the power of the physical world." Just feels very loosely connected for me. It also felt like Maya and Chioma's relationship and life events were more focal, rather than being a great supporting factor (by driving through story) for explaining the Veil.
Reflecting on their statement about being inspired by Magnus Archives: The Magnus Archives episodes are much longer than the little clips we get through Veil Containment. That is unless, you string all VC together, then you get about the length of a good MA episode. I think that is what is kneecapping the narrative; it’s not that it’s one piece of a greater story once a week, but rather a fraction of a piece of a greater story.
The delivery itself wasn't bad per se, but they took a major subplot which should have been in the main campaign's narrative and parsed it out over Season of the Deep. If it had just been a little mini side story about neomuna's founders having to contend with Chioma's legacy, how that impacts the people of the city and their propaganda (why they didn't recognize the seriousness of the threat of the witness especially) this could have been a really neat and unique experiment. As it stands right now, it is really frustrating, puzzling to understand why this was done. Definitely all for experimentation but there were so many times throughout this I was saying to myself "Damn this would be a fire cutscene or why didn't we get an expositional flashback??"
I love how we still have no idea what the veil is. I think it’s a dark traveler, that was hinted at in cutscene, but that’s still not an answer because we don’t know what the traveler is. Apparently the vex tried to create their own dark traveler with the black heart even though that breaks a key aspect of the vex; they’re not supposed to be able to simulate the light or dark. The whole concept of them not being able to understand the darkness so they decided to worship it instead has been flushed down the lightfall toilet.

Borderlands has better lore delivery than Destiny and that's pretty damn sad.

Is there anything worth exploring with respect to The MSUND12 mentions in the previous strike/context vs. what we got this week from Chioma? Does this provide any new perspective on the previous MSUND12 mentions (Was it Insight Terminus)?
If this had been fed to us slowly throughout the campaign, with the worst horrors only being hinted at just before Rohan's death, and reaching their grotesque climax sometime just before the Guardian suffers defeat by accidentally letting our ghost connect the Veil to the Traveller, this story would've made Nimbus a far more interesting character. The ramifications of this information obviously have a profound affect on Nimbus, but if they had needed to struggle with this while still trying to come to terms with Rohan's sacrifice, and also recontextulizing that sacrifice before Nimbus found closure.
Alone, these events are significant in a person's life, but it doesn't reveal a lot in terms of character to see them individually. Both at once would've created a character who is beset on all sides, and now fighting a war they didn't know was coming when they are at their weakest. I don't think Nimbus has earned closure for Rohan's death yet, as a character. Instead it's something that was granted to the character, written in for convenience. Nimbus needs to face the fact that Rohan died for a city and a culture built through communion with the darkness, unethical human experimentation, and symbiosis with the Vex, whom Cloud Striders spend most of their time defending against. Essentially, when you sign up to be a Cloud Strider, you agree to die so that everyone else can live in a paradise built by SIVA and continue to commune with the darkness.
In other words, it's not that many people were sacrificed, almost ritualistically to the darkness, it's that people continue to be ritualistically sacrificed to the darkness to this very day. Nimbus must now deal with the fact that they have agreed to be that sacrifice, and choose what it means to be a Cloud Strider knowing that. Only then should Nimbus have earned closure for Rohan's death.
I heard someone claiming that Bungie said we would get more Veil Lore Weeks Next Season, which would add more of the 4 other Missing Neomuna Weapons...can anyone confirm or deny this?

I think what they should have done is created a weekly mission maybe like a wave base tower defense in front of veil containment(pieces are there from final lightfall mission) at the end of the mission we go down to the terminal decrypt the log and receive the neomuna weapons. Red borders guaranteed on first drop. Maybe even throw in the missing weapons from the trailer.
I think the other trailer weapons come with every new season xD

Hmmm, to hear Osiris refer to "the River" (which I assume is the River of Souls) is startling, considering the innate character of Osiris. Chioma giving herself to the Vex, is either an act of exhausted cowardice or a yearning to find a (hopefully) extant 'copy' of Maya Sundaresh within the Vex Network. But it really does nothing to forward our understanding of the Veil I think, UNLESS you think that running a Chorus and using a Conductor will give us an advantage where the Witness is concerned????
Remember that big white glowy Key thing sticking outta the Witnesses Ship and pointing DIRECTLY at the middle of the Portal the Witness opened in the side of the Traveler? Maybe the Veil has something to do with that, and aul Savvy, once rezzed will help with that.
Agree 100% great story, but I got bored by week 4 and just waited till something big happened and caught up. It also just felt like a voiced lore book and that's it. Real "this could have been an email" energy.

I assume this is setting up us working on the veil. Its showing us what not to do. They said there will be more next season, i reckon Osiris is going to do his own studies and not fall into the same trappings as Maya.
As well as setting up Vex in the future as you said. We may see Lakshmi's body come back controlled by a vex Maya. Giving a physical humanoid form for the villain

Okay so: it’s fun and interesting to have a bit of dialogue to look forward to every week. Should they replace that with just telling the story in the campaign? No. But extra lore like this isn’t too bad but uh, you can’t just have Osiris and Nimbus “decrypting” the files each week. Spice it up a bit then you have a great side narrative option.

The biggest problem, imo, is that Destiny has incredible potential and none of the attitude.
The writing team has made great stories, the lore entries are mostly really good, some are my favorite short stories in any media, the veil containment back to back is reaaaaly good material.
Bungie HAS the resources, they HAVE the talent, and yet CHOOSE to relegate all that juice into side content that only 10% of the people will actually read, or if it's audio content it's hidden in a non intuitive place.
I believe Lightfall (and current Destiny Story model) is one of those things we'll only understand for sure a few years after the team has disbanded and the game has been pretty much forgotten, so the team will feel safe talking about it.
Personally, all of this sounds so much like they're too afraid of Sony higher ups saying "this is too dark/sad/emotional!! the kids won't buy the game!" to take any of the good lore into a main story. Which is fair and I wouldn't blame the devs, but disappointing nonetheless.

My impression of things from all this lore is that the Unveiling lore book from Shadowkeep, which positioned the traveller and the witness as the light/dark counterpoints to each other was actually propaganda from the witness, and arrogant too. This lore tells us that it's the traveller and the veil which are the counterpoints to each other, as the former embodies the light, so the latter embodies the darkness. I also have a pet theory based on this that neither the traveller nor the veil are properly sentient beings. Civilisations have projected meaning onto the traveller, but I reckon both it and the veil sinply react instinctively to their surroundings with no higher thought to their actions
if the ending of the winterbite quest teasing the return of titan is anything to go by, this could be a lead into season 22 being centred around vex, with Maya as a villain and involvement from asher mir, potentially a seasonal vendor
felt like asher mir was done for this saga, perhaps he returns after final shap if it revolves around vex
@@bragekv9937I think so too. Asher is done for now as he doesn’t think there is a chance of winning against the witness and he is just buried deep in the network. We win in the end of course but at what cost? Meaning, I bet the vex gain some ability to simulate paracausality, leading to them being the main villain.
All that being said I bet the 9 become a major villain too. There is also the Aphelion and they are a thread that can be pulled too at some point as we move beyond Sol.
This is something that should have been listened to in Zavala office or the Helm. Instead of tucking it away in a Neomuna mission.

Something I think would help would be if they *used* the veil to create visuals like the witch queen memory quest.
I believe we were told in a TWAB a few weeks back that the Veil Containment would continue into next season and the one after, not necessarily each week but occasionally.
I came from the Cross video. Just wanted to say awesome job summing it all up! I still plan to go back in game and listen but yeah this all could have been delivered better and Maya WILL be a Vex Villain.

Im over the tragic love story in Destiny. Every narritive seems to be drvien by some fucked up couple trying to find each other again, or get over the past. Orisis and Saint, Zavala and his wife, crow and amanda, mara and uldren, ana bray and the exo stranger, now this. Can i please get a narrative where half of it isnt about these people pinning over each other or their family issues. We're in the middle of a paracausal war that's lasted for around a millenia, there are other motivations to do shit. You know like when we took revenge for Cayde. "Yea look, i know we're all about to die, but i still have feelings for my ex thats been missing for 4 centuries and i think right now is the time to embark on this journey to find them."

I think since the Echoes image on the new seasonal cadence they put up during the showcase looks like a Vex, I'm predicting that Maya Sundaresh inside the vex network will be our villian after final shape. The vex are the next biggest threat after the witness
What i think would be really cool is if we got Chioma and Maya as like a pair of Vex antagonists yk mad in the system and Asher Mir Has to help us like a joker and Harly dynamic which would also be good to bring back Lakshmis VA cause i think she was a good one. The Vex are too vauge to be real antagonists and someone we know comanding the vex would work so mucb better but as a narrative experiment this was a really really bad idea this should have been front and center after lightfall its literally the answer to almost all of neomuna that wasn't in Lightfall.
Veil Containment. Hopefully whatever shape Veil Containment takes next season is more related to things actually happening or provides answers.

So if they’re positioning Maya as a Vex villain, do you think that “Cayde’s” return is as a weapon against her, specifically? His journal sure laid out he had feelings for her, could he be a device to retrieve her from the Vex network?
I’d assume we will see Maya again, but Cayde will be used as a guide (it’s his conscience manifest) within the portal area and will most likely be separate.

The Vex are conceptually interesting but they've got no personality really. I don't want a whole saga surrounding them even if I like their architecture.

Do you think we'll download Cayde-6 from the Veil similar to what they did with Lakshmi-2? I agree it does look like Maya is going to be an important part of the Vex storyline after the Final Shape. They are definitely leaving a bunch of breadcrumbs in these Veil Containment story drops.

Totally agree. This is exactly what they do with season stories but lazier. This would be a great story over the course of a mission or a handful of missions.
At the end she said she contacted the Vex and stated she just wants to see Maya one last time, also that now even a hell looks like heaven, so those these means that she might be with the vex some how so she could be the key for us to fallow the witness, clearly no one has more info about it than her.

I feel like a good idea for this story would have been to break it up and spread it around in place of the Action Figures we found around Neomuna

My personal theory is perhaps that Chioma basically got put back into the matrix by the vex at her request..became a digital copy...and from there perhaps she became the 'newborn' mind that sleeps inside Neomuna's computer system.
I agree the story was pretty good, given what it established and the foreshadowing it implies. On the other hand, I think it would've been better as a "show, don't tell". If we need the characters to directly ask us and explain each time what we "learned" or what was important, then it's very likely that the answer wasn't very clear.
"What did we learn from all of this?" "That the Veil is Darkness-the power of consciousness made manifest-as much as the Traveler is the Light, the power of the physical world." Just feels very loosely connected for me. It also felt like Maya and Chioma's relationship and life events were more focal, rather than being a great supporting factor (by driving through story) for explaining the Veil.
Reflecting on their statement about being inspired by Magnus Archives:
The Magnus Archives episodes are much longer than the little clips we get through Veil Containment. That is unless, you string all VC together, then you get about the length of a good MA episode. I think that is what is kneecapping the narrative; it’s not that it’s one piece of a greater story once a week, but rather a fraction of a piece of a greater story.
The delivery itself wasn't bad per se, but they took a major subplot which should have been in the main campaign's narrative and parsed it out over Season of the Deep. If it had just been a little mini side story about neomuna's founders having to contend with Chioma's legacy, how that impacts the people of the city and their propaganda (why they didn't recognize the seriousness of the threat of the witness especially) this could have been a really neat and unique experiment.
As it stands right now, it is really frustrating, puzzling to understand why this was done. Definitely all for experimentation but there were so many times throughout this I was saying to myself "Damn this would be a fire cutscene or why didn't we get an expositional flashback??"
So what your saying is a siva subclass will be coming after final shape since we will be getting into a fight with vex after.

I was thinking it would be cool if the Vex planted a spy among the tower, and one of the characters we interact with is actually vex.
I love how we still have no idea what the veil is. I think it’s a dark traveler, that was hinted at in cutscene, but that’s still not an answer because we don’t know what the traveler is.
Apparently the vex tried to create their own dark traveler with the black heart even though that breaks a key aspect of the vex; they’re not supposed to be able to simulate the light or dark. The whole concept of them not being able to understand the darkness so they decided to worship it instead has been flushed down the lightfall toilet.
