I feel like every voice actor should make a video like this. Even from an audience prospective some of those questions get old after hearing them at every con panel, stream and comment section. That said, thanks for posting this, it was very fun to watch.
It’s not a good structure. Making a video like this doesn’t work in practice because he has an ever-expanding fan base and new people will come in a few years later and won’t see this video, ask again, and half of the ProZDs in alternate universes where he becomes crotchety and mean-spirited over the coming years will berate them like they did something wrong just because a single video exists explaining a set of questions. There are channels who do stuff like this and the people who run them usually end up being super stuck-up pricks who openly insult their audience. Answering questions is part of the job. When you’re a public figure, people ask questions - even the same really stupid questions. You answer them with a welcoming face because your career will start to crumble if you act like a dickhead and tell off the people funding your paychecks. I never asked myself, but I think that demanding people not ask these questions ever again is wildly unrealistic and expecting ridiculously too much.
God, yeah, I hate when I have like a really thought out question that I don't get to ask because some kid wants to ask these pretty obvious questions. Every con panel contains 90% of these questions.
*PRO* is my inspiration!! My mom said that if I got 50k subscribers!! She definitely buy me a professional mic!! *begging you GUYS alot* literally begging.
Honestly I feel like a good question is "when you have to voice a character eating what if your go to item to eat?" bc I've heard at least sometimes folk do that
I misheard when he said "maybe writing, maybe streaming" as "maybe writing, maybe screaming" and thought "You can scream into the void for a living?? Where do I sign up?" rip
I know you're talking about questions on Twitch specifically, but I wanted to mention something I think is related: interview questions. I'm a pro interviewer who hates asking talent a lot of the questions you listed here for exactly the reasons you describe. Unfortunately, a lot of outlets require these questions be asked because that's what gets clicks. I pushed back on this because I want to foster a better space for creators, interviewers, and fans, and I'll tell you what happened -- I got fired. Thanks for making this video. I don't think it'll stop the questions, but I will probably just link to it from now on when people try to force me to ask them.
I don't know how professional interviews work, but could you brief the talent beforehand that you've a couple questions you need to get out of the way before you can get to the interesting stuff? Either way, sounds like a shitty industry, both for talent and for fans.
@@nimulosmaltibos9662 It's not really a great selling point for yourself or your outlet to admit at the top of the interview that there are some questions you are required to ask that you know are bad. Also, and this is purely anecdotal, interview time is brief. I usually get 10 minutes max with talent and I don't want to waste any time providing qualifiers.
@@nimulosmaltibos9662 I don't understand how it's shitty for fans if these questions get clicks. Doesn't that mean people want to know the answers to those questions?
@Tomaskers Music That, and I say this with respect, is something I might do if I weren't focused on the fact that I currently have no way to pay my bills!
I do appreciate you saying that it's okay to say hello. He’s really cool about answering the most common questions. Especially when 90% of the questions are simply to hear the person fumble for the answer you already knew they’d say.

I feel like a good answer to the whole "Are you working on anything you haven't talked about?" question would be: "I currently have of NDAs." That's kind of a fun answer to give that doesn't specify anything, intrinsically suggests why you can't say anything about them, and also gives the viewer an amusing tidbit of knowledge.

I mean, imagine making it to a stream or a new comment section on a video and being one of the handful of people to be directly mentioned by your favorite content creator, just to realize you aren’t even worth the effort of saying or typing out a real response and everyone else calling you stupid - and don’t lie, that’s exactly what always happens. When does it become thinking yourself too good for your audience? A simple and polite repeat response isn’t too much to ask, is it? Looking at it from a member of the audience who’s really excited to meet you, not only being ignored, but relegated to a Ctrl-C by someone you really enjoy and like to relate to is pretty insulting. Everyone I see who posts videos like this always seem to end up mocking or directly insulting audience members who don’t know live on-stream or in a video, which is sickening to me considering most of them are probably new. I can’t stomach it. I hope that’s not what Sungwon is doing here.
@@scarymeunster9095 I guessing streaming is a little like teaching, in that the viewers have varying levels of experience in the subject and it's up to the streamer to decide whether to explain the basics to new people or save time for those who have been around a while, and it's clear Sungwon himself is getting sick of repeating. I don't think it's all that insulting to direct new people to a place where they can quickly get some of their initial questions answered as long as it's done politely and not mocking new people like you said.

I ***really*** wish more people would realize this.
I worked in IT at 343 Industries for about a year back in 2017-2018 . As such, I knew some of the stuff about Halo: Infinite and the Series S and X before that info became public knowledge. Like I didn't even work on the game itself and I would get hounded by friends and colleagues for info (and interviewers, though part of me thinks that was to help make sure I was trustworthy with my NDAs). I CAN'T TELL YOU, I would get in so much trouble it's not even funny. Even now I can't even really say what I knew before release, but at least I can talk about my time there a little easier.
Do you know how much money you would be sued for if your broke your nda? Do they state it in the contract before you sign? Or is it just a where going to sue you for everything you have.

Can’t wait to see what kinds of questions people ask him in this comments section.

Everyone I see who posts videos like this always seem to end up mocking or directly insulting audience members who don’t know live on-stream or in a video, which is sickening to me considering most of them are probably new. I can’t stomach it. I hope that’s not what Sungwon is doing here.

I don't think it's all that insulting to direct new people to a place where they can quickly get some of their initial questions answered as long as it's done politely and not mocking new people like you said.
