How does a regeneration work on a truck? where is the diesel injected to regenerate the dpf? and also does the regeneration cause an increase in the oil level in the sump like in cars?

When the differece of pressure before and after scr is high the dash will ask for a regen. Park the vehicle and leave it on hiddle, neutral with hand brake on and without touching any pedal, it will start revving by itself for 40 minutes, 1 hour. All merc trucks do not inject diesel on the exhaust manifold like volvo does. It just open to the max the egr valve sending the exhaust hot air back ti the inlet increasing the air temp up to 300/350 C°, then after the catalyst before the dpf the heat will be stored over 500 C°. Breaking the carbons to ash that get trapped by the dpf, the air gets monitored by sensors for nitrogen oxide quantity, temperatures and pressure, before and after treatment at all time also wile driving. The oil leveldo not increase in any european truck engine.if it does the fuel or water is leaking inside the block. Edit: sorry but for some reasons I'm not getting comments notific, so I keep finding those accidentaly under my videos or under other comments. 3 months to realise it and get a reply is a bit unfair for both of us.

@@hgvtechuk4929 so if if delete my egr with a new euro 6 truck it won't do dpf regenerations?

@@nitrekxd all e6 need egr for work correctly, not only for exhaust temp but also for have a correct fuel expansion, a paccar e6 with a egr system pipe blocked by carbons did cost to another workshop, a new scr box complete with sensors and more than
£14000 in parts. All because that egr pipe was causing exhaust malfunction warning on dash, and only one scr failure fault from obd scan.

Hello there, I have a Mercedes atego 1524. I have a notification particulate filter maintenance immediately and adblue qaulity low.
What do you think it will be ?
    Regenerate the dpf filter?
    Thankyou

Hi Slavikg. Yeas need force regeneration for the ad blue quality, but also erase the faults codes with diagnostic machine. Plus for the part. Filter, (dpf). need changing it costs from 800 to 1100 £. If you give back the old one you'll get around 30% or 40% off. Another tip is ask for ACM upgrade or programming, it's very important for have top efficiency in consumptions and performance.

I forgot.. After changing dpf need reset the service to 0. Only 10% of the M-B trucks allows you to do it from the dashboard, need Xentry diagnostic for that. I never tried aftermarket machines.

So what I understand is the DPF filter need to be changed after this notification, just a renegeration would not help the problem to solve?

@@slavikg-yan3120 Yes Slavikg, when is regeneration needed the dash ask for warmup phase followed by auto regeneration, it means park the truck and leave it doing it by himself, without touching anything (takes around 1 hour)
There are exceptions like your case where the truck will not do it by himself (a regeneration to test the ad blue Quality was detected) or (zone 2/3/4 in the dpf was reached). The dpf service means is time to change the actual filter because the ashes inside cannot be cleaned/burned any more by the scr system. You can also just reset the service, force a regen but with time the sensor before the filter will read a too high difference pressure compared to the sensor after the filter, and will cause faults like pressure between the sensors too high, followed by frequent regen request. 6/7 years ago I used to take dpf off and clean with diesel and after rinse with jet wash, the mess was unbelievable, the good thing was that the jet wash shows you when the water can go through freely. But this prestige don't give you a long lasting filter performance, maybe 6 months if well done before start causing scr pressure problems again.

@@hgvtechuk4929 im from Belgium, there are companies here that clean and make your dpf filter, they give you 12 months warranty after. It costst like 300-400€
What do you suggest better let it clean or put a new one in it. Because I look here for new one it’s like minimum 1700€
