The gun method seems to work very well with me. My boots have a zip on the side so I dont untie the lace unless I'm polishing them so the laces last about a week without coming undone

Pull the tail end of the oposite side with the loop, will give you a nicer tie. If you do an oxford tie, by pulling both loops with oposite tails through once each it will make the knot even stronger and in my opinion nicer tie, if done correctly

I've tied my laces this way for 49 years and they've never ever come out cock-eyed. If you pull them at a diagonal like that then yes they will but you don't do that. You pull them out either side.

the easier way. instead of going under. whichever lace you normally cross on top initially, cross the other lace on top. then you can still do the normal over and pull through.
