A suit is a staple for any man who attends traditional church services weekly, goes on dates to nice restaurants or is interested in business of any kind. There are conferences and marketing events for every kind of business; from vending machines, selling t-shirts, to real estate. The truth is people are more willing to do business with men who invest in themselves and take the time to present themselves well.
As long as the suit fits well. Nothing worse than an ill fitting suit. Cheaper suits from big chain stores are fine, but find a nice little lady in your city that does laundry and adjustments and she'll make that suit fit you properly, usually pretty cheap too.
That's so cool that this demo is shown with two different sized models. I worked in fashion for years and was dating this guy that had no fashion sense. He had a lot of great pieces in his closet that his mother would buy him. There was an event at his company, so I pulled pieces from his closet and styled him. He looked really sharp. When we got there, his cronies kept kidding him about "looking good", while they looked like they just came from a soup kitchen. He was uncomfortable with their comments, and afterward, he went back to dressing crappy and all those beautiful (and expensive) suits his mom bought ended up being donated to a local charity. Back in the 1990 $1K for a suit was a lot of money to spend. I'm sure the person that bought a $1K suit for $20 bucks was probably in hog heaven 😁

I have found mysrlf avoiding more formal situations cuz I always feel like I ain't just right. Which increases my already high level of social anxiety. So I 41 greatly appreciate this advice!
Eh as a construction worker who has gone to a funeral in my work clothes covered in dam tite, dirt, and soaked damn near through because i had to come straight from work to make the funeral and go back to work straight after, ive realized that peoples opinions are worthless and you should just be how ya wanna be and dress how you wanna dress
buy a really well tailored suit, wear it socially just to wear it and tell people you aspire to and or already own a construction Company…….watch how different the opportunities you get to wear a suit become, but hey u prolly dont take advice from random places and thats cool but just give that a thought, micheal.
Yes, but remember these clothes come with hidden costs - specific storage requirements/space, regular dry cleaning bills, etc. You don't _need_ any clothing items that you cannot _fully_ afford in the long term. What you need is clothes to keep you warm/cool and covered, a roof above your head, clean air, food and water and money to continue to have those things first before you "need" an entire wardrobe of formal wear and the associated costs.
When you don't actually "work" for your money what you "need" tends to be more common sense and less material nonsense. If you work in an office this isn't horrible advice, besides forgetting to mention to get socks, and of course the issue of belts/shoes. But the average person who isn't trying to be a playboy all the time certainly doesn't need to have so many suits. This is mostly just advice for people who are always trying to show off in the wrong ways.
Dude Steve Harvey was just giving young men advice about a simple capsule wardrobe it is NOT unaffordable ANYONE that works at McDonald's can afford this! You know ANYONE with a job! You want to look good when opportunities arises, and you want to have something to wear that's nice and broken in. Nothing SCREAMS GHETTO more than someone that has a suit that they clearly don't wear very often and are not comfortable in. The suits should be worn enough to be comfortable it should be no big deal to wear one. Hell go volunteer in a office to get used to wearing a suit we are a first world country.
@@DiligoBarba First off he didn't say 1 suit, but 5 of them. Second what the hell are you talking about "breaking in", are you rolling around in your suits because you don't need to "break in" a pair of cotton anything like you do with leather boots, most people not only want their dress clothes to look new but they go out of their way to iron them and make them look crisp and stiffer. Lastly as mentioned the only reason you wear suits outside of a very professional business situation is to impress someone pretending that you have money, otherwise something casual is more than fine for anyone, and at best having a basic pair of slacks and a couple simple dress shirts will do in any other situation. Obviously you are the this type that need approval from everyone and willingly throws away money to appear rich, you don't need a suit you need a better mindset and stop trying to hang around other shallow people who care that much about clothes.
@@DiligoBarbaanyone who works at McDonald’s can also afford a bullet in the head… doesn’t mean they need one. The vast majority of young men don’t need 5 suits, they don’t even need 1, really. Wear what you’re comfortable in and what’s practical and affordable. There’s no point in this advice other than for Steve Harvey to give his fake “wisdom” which just shows how out of touch he really is.
Lol ‘good fashion sense’ literally the only reason you think that is because the 6’3 has a better frame. Broader shoulders and longer legs. Fashion sense has nothing to do with it
@@a_aw1070 Yes you dress based on height as well. Look at the size differences between both their jackets. Dude on the left just needs his a little shorter on the bottom.
Exactly. I’ve seen many people with bulky (muscle) frame wearing tight-fitting clothes. It just doesn’t look good. People should conceptualize outfits as being essentially shape (star thinking of your outfit’s silhouette and drape), so that your outfit has a unique shape distinctive from your body
Actually, the right color of brown with the right color of blue and a decently colored shirt can look quite sharp. Worse, for me, is a brown with black combo, or a blue with black combo.
Us women have similar basic fashion advice, such as nude and black heels/flats and a few basic skirts/pants and blouses, can make many formal/business outfits. Also you both looked dashing in all of the suits shown!
Men don't really care. Nor do companies with an actual product that you should be making/creating. It is only a staple in places where you are basically selling smoke and mirrors, so you need to give an illusion of profession. In places where you actually create something and are not duping people out of their money, men and women alike come in relaxed and comfortable clothing and don't really care what they or other people around them are wearing. Also, never have I ever in my life approached a girl/woman in any form of formal/serious attire. I don't see maturity and/or authority, I see blandness and boredom. I'd take a girl in a t-shirt, jeans and sneakers over a girl in heels and short black dress as a friend/life partner/business partner any day of the week.
@@diegofonseca4572 belts are unnecessary, they are merely an accessory and often just mean that the pants are too wide for you. The fit counts. But if one wants to wear them as an accessory, they're free to do so.
Mixing and matching suit pants and jackets is quite possibly the most heinous fashion crime a man can commit. There are SUITS and then there are sports coats+slacks. Two VERY different things.
@@wet0wl…Why was that the reason you agree and not the obvious fact that women also need to look professional? As if women don’t normally wear suits so how they look in them is debatable…
You can find the opportunity if you look for it. If you don't care to wear suits, fine, but wearing one now and then just feels good. It's nice to look nice.
@@rawman44The way I choose to look nice is by exercising and eating healthy. Beyond that, you'll be lucky if I wear a shirt without a stain. I truly can't bring myself to understand the fashion. Makes no sense to me.
Yeah i don't see the point getting a tight highwater ankle suit pant for what seems to be part of a professional wardrobe (but I'm completely off trend). Maybe just for casual vacation wear as they may be handy for walking in sand?
It shouldn't be that high. It shouldn't be too long to where it starts crumbling around itself, but it shouldn't be short enough to see your socks. You want to present yourself with as little wrinkles as possible. It should be just long enough to cover your socks while standing and still touching down to your shoes. When you sit it is okay for your socks to show, because they should be tight enough to where they ride up. To most people it is irrelevant and doesn't matter. But in high society, it's the difference between a rich bum, and a guy who bought clothes that fit. If you work in a high profile job, or are applying for one, the suit you where matters. An inch here or there can be the breaking point. Guy on the left is a no-go. Guy on the right just needs a little bit shorter pants. Steve Harvey's advice was not for that piece of knowledge, but just pointing out that those specific options provide you with 75 different combinations you can wear. For a normal person it's fine you're gonna get told you look nice.
I never got the "tradition" that dress pants should be to a millimeter of the bottom of the shoe heel either. When a family friend, decades ago who thought like my parents (50s mentality) would tailor for us. Went to Men's Wearhouse first time? They tailor and salesman told my Dad who was with me at the time "Why would to tailor something so stupidly close to where if another shoe than this one is worn? It could be dragging?!". He told him you tailor to cover the top of laces. And also told him his obsession with CUFFS went out 20 years ago now.

I just wear my shitty ass clothes to any event and have no shame 😂
You want to look good when opportunities arises, and you want to have something to wear that's nice and
broken in. Nothing SCREAMS GHETTO more than someone that has a suit that they clearly
don't wear very often and are not comfortable in. The suits should be worn enough to be comfortable it should be no big deal to wear one. Hell go volunteer in a office to get used
to wearing a suit we are a first world country.
