Always a pleasure to watch one of your back-to-back comparison videos, Richard... Oh boy, you and Ginz (sorry if I've mis-spelled that... 🙁 ) don't half get around, do you...??? 🛣
I agree, one of our members at YORKSHIRE EV club on Facebook has just bought one. Hopefully he will bring it to our next meeting at Our cow Molly farm outside Sheffield Saturday 23rd October 2021.
Another great video. I'm actually going to test drive the EQV this coming weekend. We were looking at a Ford Tourneo Custom until we saw your camping video. We need a large 7 seater with room for dog cage & wheelchair so on paper EQV looks perfect.
Sadly I’ll be advertising this EQV soon. Now that the summer events and camping are over, I now rarely have need for it. Been great, but time to move on. Let me know if might be interested..
Wouldn’t have considered the Merc as a natural Tesla Model X competitor but I can see now it does make sense. Great comparison, look forward to a few more, what about MB EQA and Audi Q4 E-Tron please?
Your reviews are absolutely spot on. Great effort. Love the honesty. Could do with something to replace my 7 seat Touran but these two are just a bit on the expensive side for my children and mrs to destroy. A little large for her to drive too.
Another great comparison of two large EVs but at the other end of the spectrum I wish there were more EV Superminis with decent range. Only really the Corsa e and e208 currently.
Ginst competitive nature, likes to take advantage of slipstreaming! Anyway, to quote Sabine.... "I can do that in a van!" Great video, but generally different vehicles for different needs/uses.
I've seen several reviewers already test what it's like to camp in EVs. Is camping in cars really a thing? I have never known anyone who would - as a conscious choice - sleep in a car. Can't really believe that this capability is a consideration for a significant percentage of buyers.
I don’t think so either… but it’s more possible than normal cars because heating can run overnight. The van I actually used as a family camper for a week. Was great
@@RSEV indeed, 140 ish mile range, built on the Nissan Leaf platform with shocking rear leaf springs and somewhat unpopular. That said, owners love them and if it suits your use case, they are tough as old boots!
IMHO not fair to compare 2 very different vehicles having only the battery pack capacity as their only common feature? The Tesla drag and kerb weight and even fully occupied with passengers is far more efficient than a brick that has to cram in not just passengers but cargo as well...
I don't understand when people go pn and on about regen. The brake pedal IS regen. Coasting is the most efficient and then when you press the brake the car is regen. The flappy paddles are just brakes if you see it like this then all this talk about how "good" they are is nonsense.
Tiny, I have a V class and a kodiaq, kodiaq is considered a decent size 7 seater, close in size to a Y. When you have a tribe, nothing compares to a van. Looked at a model X, far too small for my needs, people fit but not with stuff. I can get 4 bikes and 7 people IN my XL v class. Eqv is my next vehical
because the Van is 200 KG heavier, so carries more momentum so more kinetic energy , so even they slow at same pace tell me Van has more regen. no biggie..just stats for nerds ..
Been waiting for a video like this as thinking of changing our X 75D for an EQV. Really useful, thanks.
Great video! This comparison is very helpful in my decision making. EQV is now on my shortlist 👍
This is interesting as a current model X owner and previous Mercedes Vito owner

All your videos are super informative and entertaining. Great job!
To asses quality of regen you need to see the amount of watt hours recouped from any particular speed.
Have they sorted the rusting issues with those Merc Vitos ?

Thank you.
Nissan nv200 7 seater perhaps, although more limited range…?
I want a Model Y tbh I just wish they'd bloody release it over here.
Good video mate

Yes, and I like both of them. Have a review video of e208 and another covering 400 miles in a day with the ecorsa
I think because of the space the benz has i feel it could be the better buy of the 2
If possible with your editing software it would be cool to insert a table with the summary figures at the end
Nissan Evalia of course!
Completely different but might be worth a look?
Great Vídeo and informations !
Since there is a weight and drag difference between the two, the regen is probably not the same, Tesla's probably more aggressive?
Ginst competitive nature, likes to take advantage of slipstreaming!

The eqv is kind of boring and the interior has aged, however ut has the formfactor i need. Can it tow?
Well, we have NIO ES8 in Europe now to compete with the model X.
Is that model X a pre raven?
Yes, a “100d”. Raven models are mid 2019 on and referred to as “long range”. Bit more economical.
No love for the Nissan E-NV200 Evallia 40kw 7 seater?
Never tried one I’m afraid. Far more limited range but then also far cheaper

Is it legal to use 2 way radio when driving ?
I’m not sure if you have checked you don’t want some nutter reporting you
There is a Model Y 7 Seat... I know the 3rd row back seats maybe a bit smaller but that may be a decent alternative and maybe here next spring :)
Not in the UK yet
Funny that they have the same stocks

Love this! First comment!
👏🏼👍
The van didn't do too badly, but if you did this with ICE vehicles I think you'd see a bigger difference.
Just a shame the EQV cannot tow

You can change your TH-cam channel name to a " Tesla fan"
No. Wait for a model y

The Model X like all Tesla’s it seems was designed in the photocopier room. Not special looking enough for its price.
2.6 miles per Kw/h is fucking awful = 400 W/h/mile

Not really comparable cars. One is a giant van with lots of luggage space and the other is a hatchback with no luggage space.
Apple and oranges indeed but fun to watch ..also heat pump all of these ev in UK need better than best Heat Pump ..
Or Apple and Android
I did say they’re not really competitors, but to be fair I’ve seen many a person say they need to consider eqv following an X..
No luggage space ?
Completely agree, no 7 seat SUV compares to an XL v class in size, same is true of the EQV.
