    This video really helps with most bikes I see. I have the 2001 Kawasaki 1500e classic and it has the same top of the folk opening. Wish I had that gadget you made. I will search to see if they sell anything like that. Thank you so much for the video. I love it.

    Good video, my F800r had bolts on top of the fork tubes instead of that crazy clip. Was very easy to remove. Changed the fork oil and brake fluid every season.

    So, as a mechanic myself, I have a question for you. Since new seals are relatively inexpensive, and, changing the oil is a reasonably time consuming job....wouldn't it make sense to replace the seals with new ones, even though the old ones weren't leaking yet...????
    Your thoughts?

    • @TheOldMechanic
      @TheOldMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Roger, normaly I change the oil when renewing leaking seals. In this case the seals where still perfect and I just needed to change the forkoil as its a secondhand bike, and you never know if the forkoil / seals where changed by the previeus owner. So thats the reason for not changing the seals too. But you are right, perhaps it was good to renew them anyway.. 😉👊🏻👍🏻

    I have a question you might be able to help me with Sir. I see that on the screen you wrote that you flushed out the fork. What did you flush it out with?

    • @TheOldMechanic
      @TheOldMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Randy, because I didn't took it fully appart I used a cheap oil. If I would have to take it fully appart, due to lets say leaking seals, I use petrol to flush and clean the inside. Greets, The Old Mechanic

    I wonder of I can do that without central stand on my F800R. Do I neeve to remove the exhaust and use a lifter under the engine ? Seem's not correct to me.

      Lifter under the engine with a block of wood works fine on an F800r. At least it worked perfectly for me so far.

    What did you use to flush the old oil from the forks?

    • @TheOldMechanic

      @@TheOldMechanic Are there solvents that one can use? BTW I like your "All Purpose Tool" !

      When I take the frontforks fully apart I use petrol. But because the oilseals where still okay, I didn't took them fully apart you know.
