    Please be careful: because of the dry-sump oil circuit NEVER check the oil level at cold engine or let the engine just run for a few seconds before the oil check.

      Always check the oil level at operating temperature 😉

    Great manual as usual. Thank you for telling me how to use the wrench (torx) and for giving the tightening force (Nm) I am scrupulously recording everything and will use it in my work. I saw all your F800 GT videos, you are my guru hehe. Best regards from Poland.

    My bmw book says 15W50 not 20W40. API SJ
    Why do you deviate from this stipulation?

    Thanks for this video, to change oil+filter+air filter do I need to nake all the bike? It seems quite a long work and many things can go wrong. Any suggestion, except "be careful, pay attention"?

    This is simple video. I hope you will not stop doing videos. It gives some vibes to do all maintanance by my self. Also will try this winter to clean and calibrate carbs. Would be nice to see how you do it.

    These videos are an absolute Godsend, thank you for posting them. Do you have one that covers the removal and replacement of the rear swingarm and eccentric??

    Great video.
    Did you ever use flush engine fluids ?
    What you think about it?
    Regards

    • @TheOldMechanic
      @TheOldMechanic  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In the past I have flushed an engine, when it was neglected by its owner for years. I used cheap oil and let the bike idle for 10 minutes, then renewed it with my beloved Castrol 😉

      @@TheOldMechanic thank you for quick response.
      I used "Flush engine" when I maintained car engine. I have never heard that any one used it for motorbike. Anyway flushing engine with a cheap oil is great idea too.

    Hello, first of all thank you for your super helpful videos! my question is the oil, you use 10w40, bmw the 15w50 is used. Is there a reason you don't use 15W50?

    • @TheOldMechanic
      @TheOldMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, actualy not perticular that I use the 10w40. It does extremely well in all of my bikes.😉👍🤛🏍

    • @adamt.9694
      @adamt.9694 ปีที่แล้ว

      Initially BMW recomended 10W40 and at some point they changed to 15W50. It's something to do with the behaviour of the hydraulic timing chain tensioner apparently.

    • @Sweep29
      @Sweep29 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Always used 10w50 before...Just put 15w50 in mine for the first time.
      What a difference...engine seems quieter but gear changes are a lot smoother and less clunky.

    Did you reset the service interval? If so, what diagnostic tool did you use?

      @@TheOldMechanic Thanks so much. It appears that MotoScan does not work with Iphone, IOS, which is what I use. I have found some alternative devices and apps though.
