My dad and I loved playing this game when I was a kid back in the mid 90s. Was such a fun game. My dad mostly played it. Watched him upgrading weapons and such. He never had the chance to fully complete the game though.
Surprisingly, there weren't many decent DOS shooters after this one either, but not because of any technical reasons. I guess lots of people were getting bored of the genre at the time, while consoles and Amiga had plenty of options to choose from.

@@MegaUnwetterThere's an alternative game that you wouldn't consider on the face as a shoot em up called EV Nova. This is arguably better than Raptor or Tyrian. Once you get to end game and start dominating planets it becomes a shoot em up with similar graphics except you have more options with ships and fleets etc.
Yeah, great, but then the player here has to nearly die from having to shoot point blank to hit any moving targets hard enough. Twin Laser all the way 👍
playing this again after so many years shocked the hell out of me. i didn't think it was going to be that difficult! managed to power through in a bout 4 days. amazing game that still holds up to this day, even in a tiny dosbox window.
Have beaten Raptor recently on Elite in a similar way. Though I don't think I could pull that off in one go, without save/load. Also, I used megabombs on regular basis. Why do you have them just sitting in inventory?
nice playthrough ! I am trying elite mode, i'm in bravo sector wave 4 so far It's a really fun and epic challenge, as i try to destroy most ennemies and building (but cost too much health to do that)
This game looks really cool and i just realized that i have this game but never played it before. I might give it now a try since it looks so much fun like an old arcade shooter.
My God, so young I was when I heard this sound the last time, yet I'm 38 and I was searching this song for si long without remembering the games name. I was thinking that the song didn't sound that crappy old computer-nintendo with this "tu tu tu tu" 😆. As a kid, I heard this sound "HD"... but now I can tell that the ears of an adult are far beyond expectations. The rhythm si fantastic but really crappy "tu tu tu" sound 😱😖. I'm in love no more.
@@AnthemofGrimm When I started on this, I thought straight port 3 months max. then enhanced mode came in, then REMIXED and I remember saying this is taking longer than I thought, and I think it was you who said I thought it would take longer
Hello everyone here who remember the game which is look like this one too , that first level there a lot of meteor stones fly through us? If you know please tell me i can't find it.
So once you've played through all Waves on hardest difficulty you are basically done aren't you? It just lets you keep playing ad infinitum, the difficulty only ramps up so far?
Played the shareware version of this when I was young. Glad to see the whole series being beaten cuz I was a kid at the time and didn't have money to buy the 3 floppy disk expansion. You have to admit though, those are some DUMB PILOTS flying for that evil organization!!
I'm not really good at shmups and I never really liked the idea of bullet hell, so to me this was always just a fun game. Getting paid for taking out ground targets was an interesting twist.
You are technically correct considering in game footage. The original capture is about 70 fps with at least every third frame duplicated. That would be around 46,666... fps at best and frame rate drops at times below that. Anyways, the point of the title & description is for YT definition purposes. What I'm getting at is that the frame rate is not restricted to 30fps as it has been before and would be the maximum 60fps allowed by YT if the game would constantly run at that frame rate. Only menu screens in this game are updated for every frame.
This game used to keep me out of trouble back in the days. Nice shoot em up game. I get sick of games like CoD where there are scared campers and no run and gun game. Leave that to the old school players.
I re-uploaded bunch of my old videos in better quality when 60FPS and longer than 15min videos became available in YT. Marked those videos with 60FPS tag to differentiate from old videos. I understand it might be somewhat confusing, when video (title) FPS doesn't correlate with actual FPS.
I made original Raptor and yes the 2015 version sucks.. I have a new Raptor classic for windows in Beta now and making a new Raptor REMIXED that will be 60fps
soundtrack is legendary
Bobby Prince is legendary

Remember playing that many years ago. Was the final proof that you can have a decent shoot'em'up on a DOS machine.

Ahh. Love the look of this game. The visuals are amazing. A proper shooter.
I remember this! I had lots of fun with this as a kid.
I remember buying this back in the day in the bargain bin at a game shop when I was on vacation in Vegas. Awesome game.
Man this reminds me of Saturday morning in the early to mid 90s! Really brings me back :D
Radical music
Autotrack mini-gun. Fond memories.
Loved this game as a kid. Was a short grind to the Auto-Track Minigun and then hold down the fire button to win.
19:15 that weapon!!! It was so satisfying have that weapon in your stock!!! 😍 You were feeling so powerful!!

Right in the childhood. Friend got it from a cereal box along with other games and we played until the keyboard broke.
Best decision ever.

i bought it on gog a couple of month ago. good old nostalgia
I love this game, so much!
Ayyy I remember this, it was awesome! Loved it as a kid.
I love this game. I remember the cheat pressing backspace....
There was God Mode on this game too.
15:15 at this moment you can have the thor minigun. tecnically at sector 3 with a TAS on elite, but it's pretty hard RTA. WR is sub 1h30'
This game came up wit mb romppu 99 =D good times.
My first time playing this is probably back when I'm just 5 years old. I remember I can't even pass the first stage.

You can only carry 5 megabombs at a time.
I love how the ground explosions leave small flares and embers after blowing up. Such nice attention to detail.
Scott Host is making a remaster. He has a patreon and a discord.

Look on Steam. There's a 2015 version, and the original version.
the furthers i got as a child was till 24:00 .... pretty decent for a 8 year old xD
If you dont use megabombs, SELL them.
You need to constantly switch weapons for more firepower.
Twin lasers make life easy
Found it rather easy to finish though, but good times of course
I use to have a demo of this now I have the full game.
