cant remember still legit or not, is the backspace button was bind to become cheatcode? so you get all the firepower. level 1 I already got the twin laser
This game came with the first PC my family had and I have very fond memories of it. I remeber the level where you can find the air to ground missiles relatively early in the game and I would just get that, quit the level, sell it and repeat until I had all the upgrades.
I was 12 when my dad likely got the Shareware version of this game. I'd 100% forgotten about it until I saw it in a 90's DOS games compilation video. I always loved the use of color in the graphics and the outstanding music. Thanks for posting this!
I'd always equipped myself with the tracking machine guns(for evasive mode), shield, mini missiles, & the pulse cannon(for aggressive mode), plus air to surface missiles to make quick work of the pesky "groundhogs", also keep a few nukes on me. Such a pleasant throwback. Thanks for posting.
Trick to fire 3 laser beams (multiple weapons at the same time): Using programmable keys (e.g. Logitech keyboard), you can create a simple code to automatically and continuously switch between weapons, by holding down that key. Then having the Deathray and the Twin Laser, you can basically fire 3 laser beams, by constant switching between the two weapons with the right timing.
I legit found you from a random TH-cam recommendation for KKND. I watched that, and was looking through your other videos thinking it'd be neat if you had this game (or Hocus Pocus), since I remember playing a demo for it so much as a kid. I didn't find it, was disappointed but figured "oh well, I'll watch monkey island"... And then, the very next day, you go and upload this. Nice.
I remember this game as a Raiden Clone but your Jet actually has armor, and with a credit + arnament system you can buy all kinds of sick weapons, the 1st thing I saved up to buy was the smart gun
my favourite shoot'em up ever! it was not an arcade game porting, so it was not overly difficult to spill up your money! it has a nice progression througth the levels while you boost your ship capabilities in the shop. Very nice graphic and sound i loved it!
Whenever I play "Raptor: Call of the Shadows" in DOSBox, I use the following audio settings: Gravis UltraSound for the music, and Sound Blaster for the sound effects.
@@RayFlorenceReyes Maybe one of these tutorials will help you. www.pc-freak.net/blog/enable-gravis-ultrasound-dosbox-enhanced-music-experience/ www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=16974 After you finish setting up Ultrasound in DOSBox, just open the game's setup menu from the command prompt, and setup the sound card from there.
This game aged incredibly well. Everything from the graphics to the music and the gameplay and the best part is i never saw the ending as i only played the demo Its 3am and i get to watch it now!!
I was 5 or 6 when I played this, but I vividly remember that I used to get a green missile weapon that was available in one of the missions and then exit the level immediately and sell it off for huge amounts of money (more than completing the level itself). Then re-enter the level, get the weapon, exit the level, and sell it off again. I farmed this until I became a millionaire (or more) and bought every expensive last level gear and finished the game with relative ease. Fun times! :3
This game looks really cool and i just realized that i have this game but never played it before. I might give it a try now, since it looks so much fun.

LOL I was gonna say...all those defenses and they get wiped out by one little plane??? They need to get them some of that tech and fire all of their defensive strategists. What an embarrassment.
Great game. I remember getting this running on a Nintendo DS using DS2x86 (by Patrick Aalto). It ran at a steady 60fps with accurate emulation and stylus support. It was like playing a native port.
My favorite shmup game, ever. The only one I can beat casually, with convenient saves between missions and persistent ship upgrades. What a masterpiece. I used to replay this every year for a while.
For some reason I still have my Gravis Ultrasound, don't have the boxes though. This game was a bit glitchy on my 486 if I remember my PC owning timeline.
My brother and I played this when we were kids. Had no clue what we were doing. I was like 5 he was like 7. We could never get past like the second level lol 😆 took us like 20 years later of re playing it to realize the Green missiles we use to think were awesome on the second/third level were actually air to ground … so that’s why we never made it past that level cuz we weren’t hitting shit lol 😆
i always use air to ground missiles on buildings as well for max money earned. they are super useful to the end of the game. still...i wish multi purpose weapons like the twin lasers and micro missiles would be able to hit passive ground targets like non combat buildings, the same as air to ground missiles do. it makes no sense that they cant do that.
i was looking for the best sound of this game, i mean, when i was a kid i remember that the music sound was so powerful, and i had a sound blaster card but when i emulated it the sound was kinda a midi music :S , for some reason Gravis Ultrasound is the mos likely sound that i remember.
This game with the Gravis ultrasounds had the best sound. I noticed this when moving to a different PC. Better that the Sound Blaster 16 or Soundblaster Awe 32. Guitar music was better as well as explosions and sounds.
my favourite way of playing is having both auto track minigun for ground and auto track laser for air units and switching between then, it's a different playstyle completely
On the apogee screen I recognize that Melody. I can't remember what it is. It's changed a little bit and it's used here. It's the same Melody that's used in Same Old Lang Syne. It's a symphony piece. Does anybody know what symphony piece this is?.
I loved this game. This and Tyrian were my go-to shoot-em-ups for ages.

I remember having some CD full of dos games. Raptor, Duke Nukem, Jazz Jackrabbit, and many more but I don't remember most of them.
jazz jackrabbit 1 & 2 was the shiet. I think Alexander Brandon made both soundtracks (most known for Unreal Tournament, Tyrian).
I had the same. Was it called Zodiac Ultimate Game pack ?
@nicholassandanam i think thats it! Wow awesome thanks
I had one with raptor, doom 1 & 2, wolf1& 2 and street fighter 2 and others.
I played this one a lot when I was 14-15. Loved this game.

Don't know how many hours I have spent with this game. A truly timeless game. Still holds up very well today.
Same here. Our childhood
what not many people know: If you stop to fire, your shield starts to regenerate. So there is an intent to not hold down that button all the time.
Ого, не знал этого
But it only works for your standard shield, not any additional ones you could buy.
Thanks for the tip!
Damn what a blast from the past
The soundtrack on this, and Tyrian were absolute bangers
Thanks for uploading this video. You’d be surprised how many people don’t believe me about this game existing.
