    I happened to be able to see them years ago in Portland, OR. It was a great/worst concert to go see. I had gotten turned on to these guys by a fellow metal head (Thunderstruck video) and thought they were amazing at delivering great rock in a classical style. Saw they were playing in Portland (about 4 hours away) and bought tickets. I guess in my head I figured the audience would consist of a lot of fans like me, slightly older rock guys who appreciated people taking those songs in a different direction. Since we arrived a few hours ahead of schedule we decided to visit an Irish pub and pregame before having to pay for $7 or $10 beers at the venue. Fair enough to say, by the time the concert started we had a decent buzz on. We walked in.... my buddy wearing a Volcom t-shirt, I think I had an In Flames t-shirt on, pretty drunk ready to party. Everyone else is in opera clothes. Full families with grandkids all in their Sunday bests. It was like expecting Metallica but getting Yanni instead. We were totally out of our element and had no choice but to just stay the course. So we rocked it. People were in tuxes while we were in ripped jeans and t-shirts in the second row (yeah, I bought good seats). 3 songs from the end, when I decided we needed to buy 2 beers every time we went to the beer garden area so we wouldn't have to go beers so quickly, we get back to our seats and I stumble while trying to rock a little harder to whatever they were playing. I ended up dumping a full beer down the backside of the 90 year old (at least) lady in front of me. She was in a beautiful dress she probably hadn't worn since the 60's and it was so loud all my profuse apologies probably weren't even able to hit her ears. I've never felt like such an asshole in all my life!

    I’ve been sitting out COVID in West Virginia and listen to the moaning and groaning of people here who believe this is a hoax. I’ve been following narrowboaters as they deal with lockdown and a camper in New Zealand. It has helped me to cope with something beyond our control. I’ve been encouraged by the presence of adults in the rest of the world who take this pandemic in stride. Thanks for helping me to make the most of my COVID time. We have nothing in the states ti compare with your canal system but I’m enjoying being the armchair cruiser. I also have taken to walking in our parks and enjoying the “quiet” lifestyle. Thanks so much for sharing your lives with us all.

      jean de la croix Yep it doesn't sorry about that but i believe that they are more talented europeans out there than americans because europeans tend to have better backgrounds

    • @JeanDeLaCroix_
      @JeanDeLaCroix_ 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      coral liaw the fact is, asian people tend to force their children to practice 10 hours a day, so it's not surprising they often get extremely good, but practice isn't the only thing that matters, neither culture or background. Talent isn't by definition something you get, it's something you have, you can believe in its existence or not, I think that truly talented people exist in every country and if they have a family where they can express their talent, they can develop as well. Now about what you say, it's absolutely true that background and culture change your way of playing music or in fact that was true. Nowaday, a lot of musicians travel across the world and are able to meet different cultures and deepen their way of seeing music (or art), that's why some people say that that today's violinists/musicians play all the same way, without personality.
      The thing you can't deny is that there are A LOT of extraordinary musicians that live or were born in the USA like Heifetz, Menuhin, Bell, Hahn, Perlman, ...
