As a former Cellist, the amount of bow strings broken to play this cover is absolutely hardcore. I played for the better part of a decade, and I never broke THAT many bow hairs. But then again, I never played Smooth Criminal 😂

Fun Fact: Grant Gustin has talked about rehearsing this scene. The show's directors had him practice throwing glasses of water at a stationary dummy, then a moving dummy. Eventually, they gave him slushies to practice with. This was due to the fact that if he messed up, it would take 4 hours for the actress for Santana to get her makeup back on. Grant has has said he must have thrown over a 100 practice drinks at dummies. In the end, filming wise, he got it on the first take.

As a former Cellist, the amount of bow strings broken to play this cover is absolutely hardcore. I played for the better part of a decade, and I never broke THAT many bow hairs. But then again, I never played Smooth Criminal 😂
This is played by 2CELLOS. They make for 30% of the bow string market by themself. I have yet to see a performance by them where they don't destroy the bows xD

Fun Fact: Grant Gustin has talked about rehearsing this scene. The show's directors had him practice throwing glasses of water at a stationary dummy, then a moving dummy. Eventually, they gave him slushies to practice with. This was due to the fact that if he messed up, it would take 4 hours for the actress for Santana to get her makeup back on. Grant has has said he must have thrown over a 100 practice drinks at dummies. In the end, filming wise, he got it on the first take.
