Thank you for this informative introduction to "The Entertainer!" I was only 4 years old when "The Sting" came out in theaters, so I don't remember much from that first year, but I can tell you that in subsequent years (1976 - 80) this tune was ubiqutous! It was like Phil Collins song, "Sussudio" in the mid 1980's, you could NOT get away from it to save your life! Even today, hearing the ice cream truck, as it passes my house, still brings a smile to my face, as it blares out, over and over ad nauseum, "The Entertainer! 😮
Hello Allysia, I really like your videos! You are doing a great job in providing very useful information and tips. Your love for music really shines through everything you talk about. You don't try to sell anything other then this enthusiasm for music and this is very refreshing :-). Thank you!
Allysia, you are awesome as a teacher!! i love the entusiasm and energy you put in your videos. I discovered your channel 2 hours ago and can't stop watching it. Don't ever change.
I played the Entertainer a month before the movie, "The Sting," came out (yes, I'm that old). "The Entertainer" is not nearly as hard as "The Maple Leaf rag," which took me years to learn.
I think it's fine! Easier arrangements are a good way for beginners to get familiar with some really difficult famous pieces. And once they're at an advanced level and can play the difficult pieces, it's really rewarding.
Articus Heaven fax bro so many people say “Oh I could never play the piano” or “Oh I would love to learn the piano” it’s like if you want then learn it?!?

This is great. It seems like exact arrangement I played in one of the Alfred Book series. And I mean exact. Thanks for posting.
I really appreciate you taking the time to make these videos. I'm a guitar player but I really enjoy them a lot. Definitely helps with my reading too!
Awesome, thanks for the comment :)
Superb lesson - so much really helpful info in a 10 minute vid. Many thanks for taking the time - so much appreciated..
Gracias linda
Great video! The background music is a tad distracting, but maybe it's just me - I get pulled right to the music!
Awesome! I somehow missed this video before. I'd love to see a tutorial like this for a simplified Maple Leaf Rag!
Not the piece I was looking for and not this kind of simplified version but good work

Great. Thanks. I asked this is the History of Ragtime comments, but... Do you recommend any Ragtime method books? Do they even exist?
What about the original that is harder to approach?!
^_^ awesome!
is there a link where i can download the sheets?
Follow the link in video description. You'll find note sheet there. But it's only one page.
I'm sorry, but this is not a tutorial of the song. it is an explanation of the chord structure, briefly touching on the rhythm.

Joplins music isn’t meant to be played fast

You should be practicing instead of complaining like a bitch.
