    Thank you for doing this video. I have this exact problem with my Lodgy, so it’s a relief to now know how to fix it 👍

    Thanks! A bit more difficult to get to the antenna from the inside of my Sandero Stepway but the problem and solution is the same :) Nice too see you fix yours before attempting it myself.

    Thanks for the video. I noticed the same problem with my Logan MCV this afternoon. At least I know how to fix now.

      @@mervtaylor Hi Merv. Just thought I'd let you know that I have just done the job, following your video. Took me 40 minutes from start to finish. I found that the aerial was slightly loose and the water was seeping in under the aerial block. I sealed it with clear GP silicone as you showed, plus I put a generous amount around the holes on the outside of the roof and a fine bead around the underside of the aerial block. On re-assembly, I opted to put a shake-proof washer under that 8mm nut. Thank you once again for your extremely useful and practical video. I have now hit the "subscribe" button!

    never had this problem until i tried to remove the stupidly long ariel which i had to use mole grips to unscrew the blutty thing..then using copper ease put a shorter Ariel on two days later dripping through microphone grill..a bit of black silicone sealant sorted every thing out 👍

    Hi, thanks for the video. Though surely just putting a ring of sealant on the outside roof under that black aerial housing would do the same thing. As you say, you don't want to put it around the edge of that black housing as it would make it stand proud, so a full ring of sealant a couple of mm within the area of the housing base should seal it. That is presuming the water is seeping in around the base, and not down the aerial pole somehow!? It ideally should have had s rubber base seal.
    Yes that foil on the inside will be the earth for the aerial and you will mess up the reception if you mess with that. 👍

      All I can tell you is mine has not leaked again since doing it and also gave me the opportunity to check for any potential rust under the shroud.

    Thanks a bunch, I've actually taken my duster to the automatic washer a few times and the antenna isn't a fan of this of course. But the big problem came after I transported a big door on my rails and the antenna had to be bent underneath and when going over 80 km/h it was wiggled a lot and I started to get the leaks. Mine is from 2015 do we'll see what difference it is. I am a bit worried about corrosion though.

    • @mervtaylor
      @mervtaylor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't have thought the 2015 would be any different. Regarding corrosion, mine is a 2013 Indian assembled vehicle that were the worst. Dacia took my car away and gave it a full anti corrosion treatment as part of a recall programme. There is not much to worry about underneath, the chassis do not seem to to suffer but it is worth pulling pack your door rubbers as there is a tendancy for surface rust to form from the steel in the rubber itself. Also thoroughly check the rear tailgate around the pull. That is the main areas and probably will be just surface rust if any. It is worth removing your side steps at some point as some reports of corrosion have been identified there. Good luck with the antenna and thank you for your feedback.

      @@mervtaylor Wow thanks for all the possible places to look for corrosion! I will do. Maybe you have an idea on where to look for my other problem. It's the license plate lighting, I thought the bulbs was just dead but it seems like the power harness or what's it called is off somewhere. I haven't taken a closer look to where it is yet. Thanks in advance.
