90s X-men had the thematic of the x-men, it's storylines and themes and general loo, of the x-men; however, it was limited by being on fox kids. The creators did their best to not make it a dumb kids show; made it so that it appealed to an older age; made it so that it wasn't a dumb comedic show; but again, since it was limited to fox kids; it couldn't show fighting much; you barely could show a punch; wolverine really could never use his claws on anyone that wasn't a robot; couldn't be sliced like omega red, or didn't have blood like sinister. fight scenes was really limited to a few minutes at the start of the show and then a few minutes at the end of the show. The animation of that show was. very hit or miss; especially in the last 2-3 seasons; and the proportions of the characters was way to muscles; evolution and wolverine and the x-men was too thin so something in between would have been perfect. Evolution; was too high schooley. X-men really never was high school; even going back to the original 1963 team; where they were clearly teens; but high school/classroom depictions were never the big thing in X-men; and it clearly wasn't in the modern X-men which really is Giant Size X-men and on. That really was the big problem with evolution. Now with Apocalypse, his appearance in evolution was great in dark horizon; but then it went down hill from there. In fact; it seem he was weaker with the celestial technology than he was w/o it. And as the other post said; he appeared in the first episode, then disappeared until the last two episode; making the fourth season kinda weird as everything positioned him to be this overwhelming force and it kinda wasn't. In fact; this is the one issue with American cartoons, it's hard for them to depict a truly epic character or an epic fight. Like Wolveirne vs sabertooth should be like a Sasuke vs Itachi type of fight; but what we get in all cartoons is very underwhelming. nothing is remembered; often lasting too short of a time for two fighters with over a century of experience and healing factor that would allow them to display this experience over many episodes (or at least a full episode). Anime tends to do a much better jobs at this...and I'm not talking about dbz 40 episode freeza fight lengths. Oh well; this was kinda of a rant. I wish we get a modern crack at making an x-men cartoon.

Looks like some students taking practical exams and they don't know what to do. Then suddenly the teachers starts to clap everybody falls on their feet admitting defeat.
X-Men The Animated series has nothing on this. The Apocalypse in this show wasn't just some cartoon villain. He was a god among the mutants. He swatted some of the most powerful mutants on the planet aside like they were flies.
Hard pass. They would make it comedic and lighthearted just like they do with all their movies. If this scene happened in the MCU, someone like Nightcrawler or whoever would ruin it by making some stupid joke.
I don't know but I think it was that scene what made me start paying attention to every soundtrack in every show. And yet I still struggle to find some such as striking as this one. And I think that scene must be the most magnificent villain intro we got as far as 2024 goes.
i loved how they built him up throughout the season. and when he finally shows up, he does not disappoint. he feels almost..........otherworldly. like calling him a "mutant" is too small and simple a word to describe him.
I glad it didn't because while Apocalypse look all nice and powerful he is very one dimensional while Thanos has alout of personalty and character flaw plus Thanos has alout of points in my book for actually killing a large portion of the heroes and the universe.
@@allistancooper1502 Yeah but Thanos is boring tbh. Apocalypse story especially with ancient Egyptian mythology makes him interesting character. Imagine Apocalypse with Infinity Gauntlet, he would be stronger than Thanos.
I loved Evolution almost as much as Xmen TAS granted it took alittle to get used to the character designs. I remember loving this show though. What I love about both of them is how well they both got Apocalypse right and for different reasons. This dude felt like a final boss character.
The 90s X-Men was amazing, but this storyline for Apocalypse was brilliant. Had such a great buildup over the season.
I certainly agree. But then in the 4th season we hardly saw him. Apocalypse only appeared at the beginning and very end of that season.
I like how he was hinted at in mid-season 2 and then in 3, out of left field, they suddenly yanked the story back front and center

Because he could beat anyone without trying.
Because he's unstoppable.
